‘Support a Progressive Champion’
Posted on | September 25, 2011 | 9 Comments
Readers will excuse my lack of blogging today, as I’ve been on the phone and working on an article about the Orlando straw poll. Smitty seems to have been a busy blog beaver, perhaps having escaped the Third World bandwidth suckage en route from Afghanistan toward home, so a dearth of updates is fortunately not a problem.
However, if I don’t write a post or two from time to time, readers will start to wonder if I’ve been kidnapped, so I’ve got to blog something, right? Anyway, while checking my e-mail, I received a pleasant reminder of why I signed up for all those stupid left-wing lists, giving me a chance to learn what the Left is doing. Democracy for America (DFA) is raising money for socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders:
Robert –
Bernie Sanders is leading the fight to keep Social Security safe, stable and secure.
Make no mistake about it — Republicans are dead-set on using the so-called deficit “Super Committee” to destroy Social Security as we know it. Major cuts to benefits, raising the retirement age, privatization…
We need to have Bernie’s back in this fight and send a clear message to Washington — keep Social Security safe, stable and secure.
Support a progressive champion — Please contribute $10 right now to back up Bernie Sanders.
Bernie is the greatest advocate for working families in Washington today. He doesn’t back down when it comes to protecting the poor and middle class from being preyed on by Republicans and their big corporate backers — he has the backbone to stand up and fight for what’s right.
He’s stood up for us in big fights with long odds — standing up against tax cuts for the rich, harmful cuts to student programs, and so much more — and we need to stand by him in this fight for Social Security.
Social Security is a cornerstone of the American middle class and we’re not going to let Republicans turn it into a taxpayer-funded mutli-trillion-dollar Wall Street slush fund.
Back up Bernie — Contribute $10 now.
With your support, we can send a message to Washington — stand up and fight for working class families, and we’ll fight for you. Try to tear us down, and you’ll lose.Jim Dean, Chair
Democracy for AmericaDemocracy for America relies on you and the people-power of more than one million members to fund the grassroots organizing and training that delivers progressive change on the issues that matter. Please Contribute Today and support our mission.
“Support a progressive champion”? Is Bolshevik Bernie a better “advocate for working families,” than me, a married father of six? If all those deranged moonbats are giving $10 to Comrade Sanders, don’t you think you should hit my tip jar for $20, just to keep things “fair and balanced”?

Okay, how about this. In the future we keep the death penalty, but it is done by drowning in melted Cherry Garcia icecream.
And for euthansia, medicare and social security, we just feed unlimited abounts of Ben and Jerry’s icecream to those boomers just about to cash in.
For Bernie and for Social Security.

Dear Smitty, some guy is interrupting you posts to talk about socialists.

I’m pretty sure Bernie Sanders’ hair is a weapon of mass destruction.

If Bernie’s running for president I might contribute.

Damn! Bernie looks like a deranged Warren Buffet!

Bernie wants to be Eugene Debs when he grows up. But sadly, the Authoritarian Democrat currently in office won’t send him to Prison, so he’s just a wanna-be.
I’m not too sad for him, but would like to see him do three or four years in a Federal Pen, just because he could. It’d increase his cachet with the liberals, and would make my heart glad.
Heh.

Poster boy for term limits.
Bad enough he’s a contemptible Marxist reptile; he (like all the other reptiles, “D” and “R”) are almost impossible to get rid of.

Running Bernie or Nader is a sure way for “Progressives” to signal they are unhappy but aren’t serious about opposing Obama.
Sanders does look familiar . . .

A friend of mine used to rate members of Congress on what he called the Sanders Index — anyone who voted exactly like him got a 100, but a few safe-seat Democrats would actually vote even farther Left than Bernie, thus earning ratings above 100 and securing the title of “more socialist than Congress’ only avowed Socialist.”
Some of those more-socialist members are still there.
