Herman Cain to Neil Cavuto: Affair Accusation Came ‘Out of the Blue’

Posted on | November 30, 2011 | 41 Comments

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain says a woman who claimed to have had an affair with him was among “many people” to whom he has provided financial assistance, and that her accusation was “out of the blue.”

“I have helped many people financially . . . She’s not the only person I have helped,” Cain said in an appearance today on Neal Cavuto’s Fox News program. Cavuto asked the Atlanta businessman about the claims of Ginger White, who has produced phone records showing more than 60 texts and conversations with Cain’s personal cell-phone number.

“That by itself doesn’t tell you the whole story,” Cain told Cavuto, explaining that his campaign has not had access to the records White showed to an Atlanta TV reporter. He said he had no warning that White was prepared to go public with her claims.

“Boom! Out of nowhere. . . . This was totally out of the blue,” Cain said, describing the accusations against him as “character assassination” because he was “doing so well” in his campaign. “As long as I was low in the polls, this stuff didn’t come out.”

Cain’s poll numbers have dropped substantially in the past month, as he has battled accusations that he sexually harassed women during his tenure as president of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s.

Cain told Cavuto that he is concerned about the impact of the accusations on his family, especially his wife, saying the charges were “having an emotional toll on her . . . she gets upset.”

As for the motives of White, whom Cain acknowledges he has known since 1998, Cain suggested to Cavuto that “people . . . are putting her up to this . . . We don’t know who it is.”

He’s Done, we may never know the whole truth, but there is something in the man’s past to lend to the accusations.

I was on the phone with a former senior campaign adviser earlier today. Obviously the allegations came up and he said “I traveled with Herman Cain for months and saw him interact with literally thousands of people. Not once did I see or hear anything that would lead me to believe any of this is true.”

You have to appreciate Occam’s Circumcision in American politics: if you don’t like a candidate, just surround him with a ring of accusers as lengthy as the border of Burma and shave him razor-close.

…and Sarah Palin tried to ban books and Trig is really her grandson.

These people stop at nothing.  NOTHING.  We are idiots for listening instead of rallying around the one who is being slandered and libelled.

Some people are very scared of Mr. Cain. All of the accusers have dubious histories and do not strike me as credible. Heaven help the accusers, cause I feel no sympathy with these women who offer no proof and just think we should take their word for it.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of idiots out there– many of them are playing the dangerous game of going along with Cain’s accusers to try to take out their favorite candidate’s competition.  Except when the people going after Cain go after their candidate, who will be there to help them?

First they came for Herman Cain, …

Let’s also rally around John McCain and HIS mistress, since he was slandered before Herb the Love Bug. Or how about rallying around Bill Clinton?

Also… how is Cain conservative to begin with?

A new tax stream for the feds to grab? Tarp 1? What exactly? Is it his social conservatism?

    Geeeez, Roxeanne.

I’ll concede that there is no physical evidence (so far) for this latest accusation, but holy shitballs,  all of this phone and texting stuff? Flying her around and giving her money?   Cain says,”Somebody got to her.” Herman Cain got to her and gave her money and bought her plane tickets to meet him all over the place.

    The math is off.

Cain was direct on Cavuto.  He said he wants the text and phone calls released.

Honestly, I don’t care.  Newt, Romney, and Perry are terrible alternatives.

The lady is obviously troubled.  I mean, logic tells you, if you want money, you tell Cain you are going public and you ask for it (I’m certain he would have paid up).

This particular situation is weird…and stinks…because of the false (probably) allegations…not because of anything Cain has done.

I don’t dislike Newt or Perry or Romney because of sex issues, but because of their big government policies and  leanings.

    November 30th, 2011 @ 9:15 pm

Hardly surprising, since Cain keeps a very light campaign schedule.  Did your contact expect he would keep a bimbo on his lap on the bus?  Was he with him 24/7, monitoring his calls and texts?

  20. Adjoran
    November 30th, 2011 @ 9:21 pm

Clinton used to attack his accusers, too.  “Trailer trash looking for a payday,” wasn’t it?  If Linda Tripp hadn’t convinced her to save the stained blue dress, Monica Lewinsky would be known today as “that psycho stalker slut who accused the President” – she was “troubled,” you know.

Unless you believe the Illuminati planned this conspiracy with several women over a decade ago, arranging for two to be paid settlements and one to maintain a “friendship” with Cain to this day to preserve the phone records, it ain’t “poor Herman” at all.

In any case, the conspirators didn’t force Cain to lie his ass off the first day the Politico story broke, even with ten days to prepare for it.

    Believe what you wish.

Like Cain or not. The MSM/DNC and Progtards everywhere know if Cain is on the R Ticket either at the top or VP, there’s no need for an election. Obama is DONE! They must get that “Black Man” back on the plantation. IF there’s any truth to these allegations I’d be very surprised.

Fact is, Newt is looking real strong right now. Cain is good friends with Newt. A Newt/Cain ticket means Obama is joining the masses in unemployment.

Can you imagine the cries of racism if “Allegations” NO PROOF, just allegations came out about Obama’s gay lover during his marriage to Mooshell?… Oh wait, you’d never hear about it. nevermind…

Cain can simply say, I have never flown Ginger White to meet me at any destination, at anytime, anywhere. I have never given Ginger White a gift my wife would not approve of. It would be over.

No no no Maggie, that’s too wordy. He should keep it short and simple. For example, he could say something like “I have never had sexual relations with that woman-Ms. White.”

Clinton’s “bimbos” had evidence: Monica had the dress, another had taped phone conversations, another was escorted to Clinton’s room by state troopers, aka witnesses.

Your “Illuminati” argument is pretty thin gruel: nobody is asserting that what happened in the past was part of someone’s grand plan. Skeezy women make sexual harassment accusations all the time because they get the tidy five-figure payoffs regardless of whether their accusation has merit. It’s a good way to make a fast buck if you don’t mind lying like a rug.

Opposition researchers looked for women whom they could use to make false accusations, women whose PUBLIC records of settlements and bankruptcies and the like made them likely to accept money in exchange for telling yet another lie.

All the accusations against Cain are coming from one direction: the Horny Black Man going after “our women.” They’re playing off the cartoon-character version of conservatives in their heads, whom they know to be so racist that they’d never vote for One Of Them Who Got So Uppity He Thought He Could Have Him Some White Tail.

No WAY does Obama want to run against a black man; no WAY does the Left want to abandon its pretense that the right is invariably racist.

Cain’s schedule is pretty packed.  Something like 3 or 4 campaign stops today and a couple of interviews.

    December 1st, 2011 @ 11:20 am

You may not think Herman Cain should get the nomination and that’s your call. However, if you think the left will let you fall in love with the next guy and then not destroy him too, you’re delusional. This is classic Axelrod tactics in play. If you can’t win the policy argument (and even if you can) destroy your opponent’s character. They cleared Obama’s way to the senate the same way. They tried to hang an affair on McCain for goodness sake! WAKE UP! Get pissed!

  40. Mainesairjoe
    December 1st, 2011 @ 11:26 am

Newt only looks strong today because the MSM hasn’t run two solid weeks of negative stories about his admitted affairs. You think the press has succeeded in destroying Cain with ZERO proof, wait till they start on Newt. His affairs really happened! When they get done with him, three weeks from now we’ll be down to only one choice, Romney. Then what? Well there goes the enthusiasm gap we once enjoyed over Obama. You gonna go shout Romney! from the rooftops? Nope. Didn’t think so. Game over. Don’t let these bastards win.

  41. Mainesairjoe
    December 1st, 2011 @ 11:32 am

You got it exactly right. Obama, and more importantly, Axelrod knows that if Cain were to peel even 15 percent of the black vote the Obama loses the election. It really is that simple. They must run against Romney to have any chance to reelection.
