Lying Liar: ‘I Never Lie,’ Says Jay Carney

Posted on | April 27, 2012 | 11 Comments

The Washington Free Beacon cites a list of fibs, fables and dubious half-truths told by the White House spokesman, and quotes what Jay Carney said today at a luncheon event:

“[W]hen I go and stand up in front of the podium, in front of the White House press corps, I never lie. I never say something that I know is not true.”

However, Carney frequently spouts noises so devoid of information content as to be meaningless.

“I never lie” is not the same as saying “I always tell the truth.”

Here’s the rub in Jay’s claim, “When, which is often the case, I know more than I can say, I answer in a way that is truthful without obviously betraying what I can’t say for national security reasons or other reasons.”

That begs the questions, how often is often and what are the other reasons?

I suppose claiming ignorance is a better defense than “I was just following orders”.

Little Doogie Howser will be out of there anyway just as soon as he gets his driver’s license.

But the perfect follow up would have inquired for details on the “three Hilary Rosens” he claimed he knows.

    The esteemed Mr Carney said:

I never say something that I know is not true.”

Which is to say, “They keep me in the dark on anything impo’tent!”
