City University of New York: Where Students Learn to Hate America

Posted on | September 12, 2013 | 38 Comments

Take the most anti-American sector of society (academia) in one of the most liberal cities in the country (New York) and what do you get? An ugly mob of young goons harassing retired Gen. David Petraeus:

Gen. Petraeus was hired to teach a course at CUNY. None of their students would have protested if CUNY had hired Bill Ayers.

Mr. Patraeus deserves heckling, just not for war crimes. He turned political and became stupid. How dare he tell Americans that they should watch what they say while he wore the uniform! He is NOT an Oath-Keeper. I gave back the coin he presented me because he compromised his integrity. Scumbag!

ALL people who attain flag (general officer) rank are political. They rise above their peers to the stratosphere of military command not due to military skill or knowledge, simply the ability to kiss ass, say “yessir” at the appropriate times to the appropriate persons and the willingness to sacrifice not only their integrity and humanity but also any shred of honor.
Didn’t use to be that way and most Americans still harbor the ideals of the past where any mother’s son could become a general by dint of excellence, hard work and talent.
Rather like what has happened to elective office and those who seek same …

YOU, personally, may have a reason to heckle Mr. Patraeus. MAYBE. Certainly you’ve earned the privilege of calling him out.

A bunch of leftie student academic activists? Not so much. Their motivations are far different from what you lay out.

Unless you agree with them about hating America.

My personal experiences with flag officers was excellent during my career (25 years). LTG Peter Kind was someone to emulate. I thought that way about Powell and Patraeus, too. I worked with Patraeus and spoke to Powell. Now they have abandoned their integrity and honor. I have no respect for them anymore.

I wonder if the protester who stepped in front of that bus realizes how close he came to being killed. Well timed, General, and well played.

Your last comment shows that you are an asshat. If we were together, I would punch you in the face. I am tried of jerk-offs questioning my love of America simply because I don’t agree with them. YOU are an example of what is wrong in our country right now. The right to protest is not something you earn. It is guaranteed in the Constitution.

Words aren’t the “be all, end all”. I will use words until such time as someone steps over the line. Implying that I hate my country are what are known as “fighting words”. It is a recognized legal defense. Discipline I have, tolerance for stupid remarks, I don’t.

  32. Quartermaster
    September 12th, 2013 @ 7:23 pm

Fighting words is a legal defense in some states, but not nearly all. His statement was reasonable and you are reacting utterly out of proportion to what was said. Even if his last line was stupid, your reaction was undisciplined and stupid.

I never thought much of Powell. He advanced as he did because of his skin color, and not because of excellence. Petraeus holds a PhD in something, but it didn’t really carry much military weight. Like Powell, he advanced mainly because he managed to insinuate himself into the right place at the right time. As we’ve seen, he sold his integrity for a bit of poon on the side which, while the temptation is understandable, allowed Zer0 to play him like a violin.

I’m in agreement with Stormbringer. Sack all the Generals. I know a few Admirals I’d Court Martial – Harvey, who relieved Honors as CO of Enterprise, would top my list of dishonest GOFOs to bring down.

    September 13th, 2013 @ 12:12 am

Nonsense. The vetting process that produces general officers is excruciating and produces men of the highest caliber. You can not become a general without high military competence and competence in general.

    September 13th, 2013 @ 12:15 am

These buffoonish threats show you to be a fool. I’ve experienced the same kind of venom from the same kind of lefty kids forty years ago. They are simply haters. There is something psychologically wrong with them.

  36. rmnixondeceased
    September 13th, 2013 @ 7:59 am

*snicker* That used to be the case. The process now produces mostly dilettantes and ass kissers, more interested in checking off boxes on their career plan than actually being warrior leaders. There are some exceptions but they are becoming rarer.

And what would you all do with Patton, who had an affairs?

  38. Quartermaster
    September 13th, 2013 @ 9:27 pm

Patton was pretty much known to have played around with a niece. My judgment of him is the same. He was an outstanding General for the ETO style of warfare, easily the best in the ETO. But he compromised his integrity by playing the alleycat. He damaged his long term rep as a result. His overall rep, however, is better than Petraeus’s will be. Patton was 10 times the soldier Petraeus was.
