Success Is Its Own Defense

If something works, it works. To intellectuals, however, theory takes precedence over practice and ideological abstractions like “equality” are more important than actual success and happiness. So in the wake of their failure to destroy “Duck Dynasty” because of patriarch Phil Robertson’s alleged homophobia, now the Left has its collective panties in a bunch because, in 2009, Robertson said this:

“Make sure that she can cook a meal, you need to eat some meals that she cooks, check that out,” he said. “Make sure she carries her Bible. That’ll save you a lot of trouble down the road. And if she picks your ducks, now, that’s a woman.”
“They got to where they’re getting hard to find,” Robertson remarked. “Mainly because these boys are waiting until they get to be about 20 years old before they marry ’em. Look, you wait until they get to be 20 years old, the only picking that’s going to take place is your pocket.”
The Duck Commander company founder added: “You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16, they’ll pick your ducks. You need to check with mom and dad about that of course.”

From all the pearl-clutching horror inspired by this quote, evidently we’re supposed to think the Robertsons are the Louisiana Taliban. But then you get to the end of the article and read this:

Robertson practices what he preaches. He began dating his wife, Kay, when she was only 14 and he was 18. They waited until Kay was 16 to get married.

Oh, that’s right: Phil and Kay Robertson recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. they’ve got four grown kids and numerous grandchildren and — by the way — they’re millionaires. For obvious reasons, the Left must discourage this way of life.

This reminds me. Go check out the weaky-pedo pages for Lysenko. They’re busting their asses to rehabilitate the guy.

Every time someone mentions the horrors of Lysenkoism, it gets replaced by very bland, passive-voice statements about lack of success. Either that or no one has ever mentioned how all of the real scientists ended up in the gulags.

You also won’t see the word “gulag” on the page (or the one about “Lysenkoism”)

I know MANY normal couples (phil and kay included) who have been together over 50 years. and have met very few gay people who I would consider happy.

Despite the hardships endured, they kept faith to their vows. “All the failed other ones” is impertinent twaddle. And the money didn’t mean shit when it came to their existence, but it DID glaze A&E’s eyes.

I first caught them on the Outdoor Channel… I’d bet they could go back there and be just as happy as peas and carrots.

Which vow was that? Did he vow to throw out his wife and children out of the house because he got fed up with them?

And failed marriages, violent marriages, and destructive marriages are no twaddle (even though anything you think is impertinent I like!). They are real and not the kind of marriage that we need in society.
16 yr olds are not adults, and should mostly not be getting married. Certainly not as a rule.

I hate to burst anyone’s bubble but this whole Duck Dynasty flap was nothing more than a marketing ploy from the start to finish. The timing is too obvious. First, have Phil say a few controversial things to draw
condemnation from main stream America. Next, have A&E “suspend” Phil drawing rabid support from Ducksters. Then have the right wing media machine go to work ginning up outrage over Phil’s suspension for his “Christian beliefs”. And finally, sit back and count the cash as evangelical Christmas shoppers fill up their buggies with talking Uncle Si dolls and pre-worn Duck Dynasty camo underwear. This is now taught in business schools as the the Chick-fil-a effect.

So I guess we can add pedophile to Phil’s list of accomplishments now right below bigot and homophobe. But hey, the guys a millionaire so that makes it all OK. Maybe Phil’s come down with a case of the Afluenza.
