Why Media Bias Matters

Say hello to Noah Madrano and, while you’re at it, go ahead and say good-bye, because it’s highly unlikely you’re ever going to see him unless somehow you get sentenced to federal prison, where he’s going to be serving a 50-year sentence for “his heinous crimes”:

PORTLAND, Ore. — A Gladstone, Oregon man was sentenced to 50 years in federal prison today for abducting and sexually abusing a Canadian child he met through a music creation social media platform.
Noah Madrano, 43, was sentenced to 600 months in federal prison, a $5,000 fine, and a lifetime term of supervised release. The sum of restitution he must pay to his victim will be determined at a later date.
“The U.S. Attorney’s Office thanks the FBI special agents and Oregon City police officers who rescued the victim in Oregon and brought the defendant to justice,” said William M. Narus, Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon. “This sentence is a result of the extraordinary efforts of the victim, the victim’s family, their community, and law enforcement here and in Canada.”
“The persistence with which Madrano pursued his heinous crimes — traveling internationally on multiple occasions to victimize a child he met online, and ultimately smuggling that victim across an international border, speaks to how predatory his actions genuinely were,” said FBI Portland Special Agent in Charge Douglas A. Olson. “Madrano will be in his mid-nineties when he is eligible for supervised release. His removal from our communities benefits everyone.”
According to court documents, Madrano met a child online whom he sexually exploited for more than a year. In May 2022, he traveled to Canada to meet the child in person, took the child to a hotel room, sexually abused the victim, and recorded his abuse. A few weeks later, on June 24, 2022, Madrano returned to Canada, where he abducted the child from outside a school and took the victim to another hotel room. At the hotel, Madrano sexually abused the child for several days and recorded videos of his abuse. On July 1, 2022, Madrano hid the child in the trunk of his vehicle and drove back to the United States. Once in Oregon, Madrano brought the victim to a hotel room, where he continued to sexually abuse the child.
In the early morning of July 2, 2022, FBI special agents and Oregon City police officers entered Madrano’s hotel room and found him inside with the victim. Madrano was arrested and the child was taken into protective custody, reunited with her parents, and returned to Canada.
On September 21, 2022, a federal grand jury in Portland returned a six-count indictment charging Madrano with sexually exploiting a child, traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct, transporting a child with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and possessing child pornography.
On January 13, 2025, Madrano pleaded guilty to sexually exploiting a child and transporting a child with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

You may ask, what does this have to do with media bias? Well, I learned about the Noah Madrano case from Andy Ngo, who exclusive reported in 2022 that Madrano was involved with an Antifa-aligned radio station:

Following the disappearance of a Canadian child last month [i.e. June 2022], a 40-year-old Portland-area man and radio host on the left-wing station, KBOO, has been arrested for child trafficking and child rape. . . .
Madrano used male, female and nonbinary pronouns and the monikers, “Bud Jackson,” “NoMad” and “Noah Zark.” . . .
Until the publicity around Madrano’s arrest, he was a producer and co-host of the “Sub-Human Intellect Theater” (S.H.I.T.) monthly show at far-left self-described Antifa Portland radio station, KBOO-FM. The show’s other host is Karen Green, who has deleted all her social media accounts after the arrest of her co-host.
The Post Millennial can exclusively report that Madrano’s Twitter account has pro-pedophilia content. . . .
Portland left-wing radio station KBOO is one of three accounts that follows Noah Madrano on Twitter. The banner on his account appears to show a nude child. . . .
Madrano’s YouTube account under the username “Madnana42” also has content suggesting an interest in the violent sexual abuse of minors. A playlist on the account is titled, “Videos of teenagers literally getting raped.” The only video on the playlist is a Marilyn Manson music video of “Heart-Shaped Glasses.” Actress Rachel Evan Wood, who was 19 in the video, alleged this year that the sex in the 2007 music video was non-consensual. . . .
Outside of his disturbing personal social media accounts, Madrano had a long relationship with KBOO radio lasting over a decade. He was a program committee chairperson for the station from 2012–14. His show, which launched in 2012, uses the slogan, “Making radio sound like a child’s play.”
KBOO broadcasts far-left political content and one of its main membership programs is called the “Fight Fascism Power Pack” which gives donors a flash drive with access to content from violent group Rose City Antifa and Portland Antifa members, Alexander Reid Ross and Shane Burley. . . .
The last episode of his show, which has been deleted, featured a purported skit in which Madrano was having phone sex with an underage girl.

KBOO-FM is a “listener-supported, community radio station,” and you see what kind of values were “supported” by this “community.”

Now here’s where the media bias angle comes in. Because of Andy Ngo, you and I know that KBOO gave airtime to this predatory child rapist, who was not exactly secretive about his pedophilia. But guess what? In the Oregonian‘s article about Madrano being sentenced to prison, you’ll have to read down to the 28th paragraph before the reporter mentions Madrano’s association with KBOO radio. Many other media accounts don’t even mention Madrano’s connection to the “listener-supported, community radio station.” Just ask yourself how they’d play it if a similar crime was committed by someone with a right-wing MAGA connection. Daresay that would be mentioned in the first sentence of every article.

However much you hate the media, you don’t hate them enough.
