You Might Be a Media Douchebag If . . .

Posted on | April 15, 2010 | 12 Comments

. . . people are attacked for exercising their First Amendment rights and you don’t think that’s a news story:

Over 10,000 Boston Patriots turned out for the event and to hear Sarah Palin speak.
So did the thugs.
Leftist thugs wearing USW T-shirts threw punches and rammed their way through the Tea Party Protest in Boston . . .
The USW 8751 in Boston represents bus drivers.
This did not get any press even though it was caught on video. . . .

What does count as legitimate news to biased media hacks? Anything that fosters the perception of division between Tea Party protesters and the GOP. Any opportunity to portray Tea Party activists as misinformed or ignorant.

UPDATE: Michelle Malkin on a new left-wing meme: “Tea Klanner.”

UPDATE II: Best Tea Party sign of the day:

UPDATE III: Linked by Ed Driscoll. Thanks, Ed. We who wear fedoras much stick together.

While their presence was rude and obnoxious, it is their right to be there.
In fairness,”…threw punches and rammed their way…”, is a bit of an exaggeration. The ‘punch’ was a somewhat violent, backward motion of the arm to dislodge the woman who had hold of his arm, whom he was not looking at. It did not look like they were ‘ramming’ their way through the crowd.
The man shouting “Sarah Palin!” at them, was equally as rude/obnoxious, as it was hard to tell who’s side he was actually on, from a casual observer’s viewpoint.
There should be a division between Tea Party activists, and some elected GOP politicians, because some of the elected GOP politicians voted for the Bailouts, which led to the Tea Party activity in the first place.

That’s a weak defense for a member of a group who shoved their way through a peaceful demonstration with bullhorns. Their right to demonstrate does not include the forceful treatment of other people who were peacefully assembling. On;y a defender of violence would try to excuse a trashy boor.
