‘Remembrance’ for a Criminal

Posted on | February 17, 2025 | Comments Off on ‘Remembrance’ for a Criminal

Six years ago (“The Media’s ‘Climate of Hate’ Myth,” American Spectator, Jan. 18, 2019), I examined the political forces behind allegations of an “epidemic” of violence against transgender people. The mainstream media were complicit in a propaganda campaign to convince the public that right-wing “hate” was responsible for this phenomenon. The propaganda campaign involved a running total of how many transgender people had been “murdered” during the current calender year, so that a news report about a recent death could include the fact that the victim was 14th (or 27th or whatever) such person killed in the U.S. that year.

Of course, the activists compiling those lists of transgender victims were not scrupulous about who got included in their totals — they wanted a big number to promote the EPIDEMIC OF HATE narrative, and relied upon the gullibility of journalists not to examine the details of these deaths on a case-by-case basis. Any reasonably curious person could do some basic research and realize that the “epidemic” narrative was bogus. The number of transgender victims whose deaths could be clearly attributed to “transphobia” was so close to zero as to be statistically neglible, a drop in the bucket in a nation where there are about 20,000 homicides a year. Let us stipulate that a drag queen who gets shot during an argument outside a bar at 3 a.m. may, in some vague way, be a victim of “transphobia,” but does it make sense to depict such an incident as evidence of a “Climate of Hate”? And yet this was the substance of the alleged “epidemic” of anti-transgender violence that the media kept hyping up during Donald Trump’s first term. Anyway . . .

As noted in an update on my most recent post about the “Zizian” radical vegan transgender death cult, there is now a Kiwi Farms thread about the Zizian cult, which includes a screenshot from the Instagram account of Robyne Plaga, mother of Amir “Emma” Borhanian:

Borhanian’s mother described him/“her” as being an “advocate for justice, animal and human rights activist” who “passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022, in Vallejo, California,” a description that omits some rather crucial details. Borhanian was shot by Curtis Lind, who fired his pistol in self-defense after being nearly murdered in an attack in which he was “impaled with a sword and blinded in one eye.” Borhanian and her fellow Zizian cultists had been staying on Lind’s property, but stopped paying rent during the COVID-19 lockdown, when there was a moratorium on evictions. After the pandemic ended and the moratorium was lifted, Lind wanted the Zizians to pay the rent they owed him. The Zizians refused to pay, and Lind was planning to have the sheriff evict them, so they concocted a scheme to murder him, a plot that included plans to dismember his corpse and dissolve it in vats of acid.

As noted on the Kiwi Farms thread, Borhanian also got mentioned in a #SayTheirNames tribute by the Texas House LGBTQ Caucus on “Transgender Day of Remembrance” in 2023. Why would a bunch of legislators in Texas be paying tribute to someone from North Carolina who died while committing a crime in California? I can’t explain this, and I’ll bet the Texas House LGBTQ Caucus can’t explain it either. Probably some junior legislative staffer had a connection to Borhanian via social media, so that name just got thrown on the list.

Borhanian also got listed in this “Remembering Our Dead” tribute page, as having been “one of two people shot during a property dispute,” which is rather euphemistic, all things considered. My point is that once any category of people are deemed Official Victims of Oppression, then everything about them gets filtered through the warped lenses of this victimhod narrative. Even when a transgender person gets killed while engaged in attempted murder, this does not diminish their status as an Official Victim of Oppression, which entitles them to obituary praise.

Radical Vegan Transgender Death Cult Gets Mainstream Media Coverage UPDATE: Finally, the KiwiFarms Thread

Posted on | February 16, 2025 | Comments Off on Radical Vegan Transgender Death Cult Gets Mainstream Media Coverage UPDATE: Finally, the KiwiFarms Thread

What’s with this “cultlike group” bullshit, AP? Like, you’re afraid they’re going to file a defamation suit if you call them a cult? As if these murderous weirdos — who are all either in police custody or fugitives from justice — have nothing better to do than to pursue tort cases in defense of their reputations? Bert the Samoan Lawyer has assured me that I can safely call the followers of Jack “Ziz” LaSota a radical vegan transgender death cult without fear of civil liability, because truth is always an ironclad defense against any libel claim.

Anyway, about five hours after the Associated Press published its story about the so-called “Zizians,” CBS News did its own summary:

In the wooded outskirts of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, a perplexed landlord noticed odd sights at two of his rental properties.
Tenants wore long black coats and parked box trucks outside the duplexes. They ran an electrical cord from one box truck into one of the condos and kept a stretcher inside another.
A neighbor remembers similarly dressed figures walking around at night holding hands. They never spoke a word.
By the time the FBI searched the property last week, one of the most recent tenants had been killed in a shootout with U.S. Border Patrol agents in Vermont, and a second was under arrest. A third, a shadowy figure known online as “Ziz,” remains missing after authorities linked their cultlike group to six deaths in three states. . . .
Associated Press interviews and a review of court records and online postings tell the story of how a group of young, highly intelligent computer scientists, most of them in their 20s and 30s, met online, shared anarchist beliefs, and became increasingly violent. . . .
Jack LaSota moved to the San Francisco Bay area after earning a computer science degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2013 and interning at NASA, according to a profile on a hiring site for programmers, coders and other freelance workers. NASA officials did not respond to a request to confirm LaSota’s internship, but a Jack LaSota is listed on a website about past interns.
In 2016, she began publishing a dark and rambling blog under the name Ziz, describing her theory that the two hemispheres of the brain could hold separate values and genders and “often desire to kill each other.”
LaSota used she/her pronouns, and, in her writings, says she is a transgender woman. She railed against perceived enemies, including so-called rationalist groups, which operate mostly online and seek to understand human cognition through reason and knowledge. Some are concerned with the potential dangers of artificial intelligence.
LaSota began promoting an extreme mix of rationalism, ethical veganism, anarchism and other value systems, said Jessica Taylor, an AI researcher who met LaSota both in person and online through the rationalist community and knew her as Ziz.
When LaSota left the rationalists behind, she took with her a group of “extremely vulnerable and isolated” followers, Anna Salamon, executive director of the Center for Applied Rationality, told the San Francisco Chronicle.
Taylor said Ziz adherents use the rationalist ideology as a reason to commit violence. “Stuff like, thinking it’s reasonable to avoid paying rent and defend oneself from being evicted,” she said.

Well, you can read the whole thing, but you won’t learn much that I didn’t already report in my five blog posts on the topic, beginning January 27. Basically, three weeks after I start blogging about something, the mainstream catches up, and they don’t even hat-tip me (or Andy Ngo, who was the first to put this story together). The important thing, however, is that at least three members of the “Zizian” cult are fugitives at large, whereabouts unknown, considered armed and dangerous.

Jack ‘Ziz’ LaSota (left); Jasper ‘Gwen’ Danielson (right)

If you should spot one of these dangerous weirdos, do not approach them. Do not ask what their pronouns are. Nor should you offer them a cheeseburger. Instead, contact law enforcement immediately.

Like I keep telling you: Crazy People Are Dangerous.

UPDATE: Did I say “crazy”?

In case you didn’t already know, Maximilian Snyder, 22, applied for a marriage license with Teresa Youngblut, 21, who is being held without bail in a Vermont jail for murdering a Border Patrol agent. Snyder, meanwhile, is being held without bail in California for murdering Curis Lind, who had been the landlord for the Zizians. Despite being an accused murderer, however, Snyder (a/k/a “Audere”) thinks the world needs to know his feelings about animal rights.

UPDATE II: NBC News has an excellent and very detailed story about the late Felix “Ophelia” Bauckholt:

Ophelia Bauckholt was living her best life in spring 2023.
A math whiz from Germany, Bauckholt, then 26, was making more than a half-million dollars at a New York City trading firm and juggling a bustling social calendar. Her apartment in Jersey City, New Jersey, was the gathering place for her network of friends, most of whom were highly educated transgender women like her.
“She was the glue of our friend group,” Bauckholt’s roommate at the time, Astra Kolomatskaia, said. “She was living a very good life.”
But over the next few months, things turned dark. Bauckholt began to retreat from her friends and talk on the phone for long periods of time to people she wouldn’t identify. She started taking frequent weekend flights to places she wouldn’t talk about. And then, in November 2023, she hopped on a flight out of Newark Liberty International Airport and cut off all contact with her friends, leaving them with no idea where she had gone. . . .

Read the whole thing, which includes some extensive quotes from Anna Salamon about her experiences with “Ziz.” Meanwhile, a Vermont TV station had a nice five-minute summary of this cult crime spree:

UPDATE III: KiwiFarms thread about “Ziz.” I knew from the start that the KF crew would eventually be on this story, and they kind of took their sweet time about it, but they are nothing if not thorough.

The ‘Red Pill’ Remains Undefeated

Posted on | February 15, 2025 | Comments Off on The ‘Red Pill’ Remains Undefeated

Rollo Tomassi: Godfather of the ‘Red Pill’

Late Friday the political world was shaken when MAGA influencer Ashley St. Clair revealed that last year she gave birth to Elon Musk’s 13th offspring. Quickly, I sought out Rollo Tomassi’s take on this development, which was of course highly amusing.

Rollo (a pseudonym) has long pointed out that “Red Pill” is not ideology, but praxeology (“the study of human action and behavior”). It’s not about dictating what you should do, but rather about understanding what you actually do. And when you consider what Ashley St. Clair actually did — clawing her way to prominence in MAGA world, in order to get herself inseminated by The Richest Man in the World — you’ve got to tip the cap to Rollo, who has lectured endlessly about hypergamy as the motive force of female behavior. It doesn’t get more Red Pill than this.

Recall that in 2019, I traveled to Orlando to cover a Red Pill conference where Rollo was the featured speaker:

While most of these guys are Trump supporters, the “red pill” is not about politics in the usual sense. The phrase, borrowed from the 1999 film The Matrix, refers to seeing through socially accepted illusions to understand the brutal truths of human nature. A major popularizer of this concept as applied to male-female relationships is Rollo Tomassi, author of the 2013 book The Rational Male and its sequels. Tomassi was introduced at the 21 Convention as the “godfather” of the red-pill community. “A lot of men are finding the red pill because they’re looking for answers,” Tomassi said during an on-stage discussion with popular Tulsa radio talk-show host Pat Campbell. Often the experience of divorce or the break-up of a romantic relationship leads men to discovering the online community known as the “manosphere,” where Tomassi’s books about “intersexual dynamics” are widely read. Campbell says he’s heard from men who say their lives were quite literally saved by reading The Rational Male. “They were ready to end it all, zero out,” Campbell told me, describing men — typically in their 40s — who were devastated by divorce. Tomassi has become a regular weekly guest on Campbell’s morning program on Tulsa’s KFAQ-AM.
“The feminization of culture” has developed a woman-centered “gynocratic ideal” in Western societies, Tomassi explained to an audience of about 100 men attending the conference. This creates a concept in which fathers are regarded as superfluous in their children’s lives, an effect compounded by the fact that 77% of teachers are women, so that children are raised under female authority, with little effective male influence in their lives. “The systematic disempowerment of men” in modern culture, Tomassi said, is a major cause of what he called “the ‘Lost Boy’ generation” of young men lacking the ability to live productive, independent lives and form successful relationships with women. .. .

You can read the rest to remind yourself. What does Rollo mean by “the feminization of culture”? Among other things, it means that boys learn to be “simps,” forever trying to please girls who, in turn, learn to be cruel ice queens, always expecting servile abjection from men.

There are unrealistic expectations on both sides of this dynamic, fed by popular culture. For example, young men generally do not seem to realize how rare beautiful women are. Even at the peak age of youthful attractiveness — late teens, early 20s — only a single-digit percentage of women are truly beautiful. Stroll around a college campus and keep a running total in your mind. Maybe 25% or 30% of college girls could be categorized as “reasonably attractive” by a discerning observer, and the real beauties are seldom more than 1-in-20. Why is it, then, that so many barely-average young men let themselves be deluded into thinking that there is some adorable cutie out there just dying to meet them? Feminists have identified the “Manic Pixie Dream Girl” trope in movies as encouraging such beliefs, but they overlook how movies and TV shows similarly foster unrealistic expectations in young women. Not long ago, Instapundit noted that women have fetishized tall men to such an extent as to exclude the vast majority of men from their potential choices. Only 16% of men are six feet tall or more, so if a woman sets her dating app preferences to make six feet the minimum height — and this is apparently quite common — then she never even sees 84% of men on the app.

One sees a lot of young women bragging online about having “high standards” for men — the imperious Ice Queen posture — but on closer examination, this boast is usually just an excuse, a rationalization for why they don’t have a boyfriend. Oh, they’re too good for the available men, and can’t lower their standards by dating any man who might actually be interested in them. This is the mirror-reverse of male “incel” types like Elliot Rodger, who styled himself “The Supreme Gentleman” and harbored a deadly grudge toward all the pretty girls he couldn’t get.

Well, I’ve followed that digression far enough. My point is that Rollo Tomassi’s Red Pill praxeology is about getting men to see the patterns of female behavior in a realistic way, rather than to let themselves be deluded by a bogus Hollywood-manufactured romantic idealism — an appealing fantasy of what women “should” be, as opposed to the reality of what women actually are. Think about all the earnest MAGA guys who might once have had a foolish crush on Ashley St. Clair, but now she’s living in a $15,000-a-month apartment and raising the baby of the World’s Richest Man. If only they’d listened to Rollo . . .

A Celebration in ‘Killadelphia’

Posted on | February 13, 2025 | Comments Off on A Celebration in ‘Killadelphia’

In case you didn’t know who won the Super Bowl

Longtime blog buddy Dana Pico is usually our go-to source for all Philadelphia-related news, but for some reason he had no comment on the Eagles winning the Super Bowl and the subsequent riot. Therefore, belatedly, I’ll supply the necessary update. ABC News:

Dozens of people were arrested in Philadelphia after fans took to the streets to celebrate the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory, police said.
Philadelphia police reported nearly 50 arrests following the Eagles’ win against the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans on Sunday.
Among those, five people were arrested for assault on police, authorities said. There were also two arrests for aggravated assault, one for recklessly endangering another person and one for misdemeanor disorderly conduct in the third degree, police said.
Additionally, police said 29 people were arrested for disorderly conduct and issued code violation notices.
There were eight arrests for vandalism incidents, including against four city sanitation trucks, two banks and two retail stores, police said. The businesses were all in Center City on Walnut Street.
Amid the raucous celebrations, fans were captured passing a downed traffic light pole on a packed street, and a large fire was seen near an intersection.
Police similarly reported disorderly conduct and other incidents after the Eagles won the NFC championship game in Philadelphia on Jan. 26, which sent them to the Super Bowl.
Thirty-one people were issued citations for disorderly conduct or failure to disperse, police said at the time.
Two shootings, a stabbing and a car crash that injured multiple pedestrians were also among several “significant” incidents reported amid the NFC championship celebrations, police said.
Tragically, an 18-year-old Temple University student died after he fell from a light pole while celebrating the [NFC championship game] win, officials said.

The adverb “tragically” is doing a lot of work in that sentence, but rather than digress on that topic — the intersection where FAFO meets the Darwin Awards — permit me to note the location of Sunday night’s “celebration” (by which I mean, riot) in Philadelphia:

Philadelphia police are seeking the people responsible for tearing down Center City traffic light poles during the celebrations that took place following the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory.
On Sunday night, when thousands took to the streets, three poles located at Juniper and Market streets were taken down by a “large group of people” and “damaged beyond repair,” police said Tuesday.

OK, so the intersection of Juniper and Market streets (i.e., the east side of Penn Square) can serve to pinpoint this destructive chaos. This is in the Second Congressional District, represented in Congress by Democratic Rep. Brendan Doyle. However, the district line running north-south bisects Penn Square, so that the violent rioters could easily be residents of the neighboring Third District, represented in Congress by Democratic Rep. Dwight Evans. Using the New York Times interactive map of the 2024 presidential election, which allows you to search results down to the precinct level, I can report that the precincts around Penn Square in Philadelphia went for Kamala Harris with between 81% and 88% of the vote. Nowhere in the vicinity did Trump get as much as 20% of the vote.

This is deep blue territory, in other words, which means that the criminals arrested there are almost certainly Democrat voters:

As thousands took the streets of Philly to celebrate the Eagles victory Sunday night, police say several fans took the festivities too far, ending with their arrest.
Philadelphia police released the mugshots and new details about the arrest of 8 suspects, including two women and six men:

— Terry Kinard, 26, is charged with resisting arrest and harassment for spitting on and hitting a medic
— John Kasianczuk, 44, is charged with simple assault, resisting arrest and defiant trespass for assaulting a police officer.
— Paul Aguilera, 28, is charged with PIC [possessing instruments of crime], REAP [recklessly endangering another person], evading arrest and disorderly conduct for swinging a flag pole, and trying to knock down electrical wires
— Tyler Roach, 30, is charged with harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness
— Destiney Paramore, 18, is charged with REAP, fleeing a police officer, yielding to a pedestrian sidewalk and reckless driving for nearly striking several pedestrians with her vehicle and performing donuts
— Anonio Kizzia, 21, is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and disorderly conduct for trying to punch a police officer
— Teairah Tate, 33, is charged with simple assault, resisting arrest and harassment for hitting a police officer
— Brandon Thompson is charged with aggravated assault, PIC, simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct for throwing liquid into an officer’s face

‘Eagles fans,’ IYKWIMAITYD

“Diversity is our strength!” Crime in Philadelphia is just part of the local culture. Black, white, Hispanic, male, female — everyone in Philly is a dangerous criminal. A propensity for violent mayhem unites the city.

Our friend Dana Pico refers to the city as “Killadelphia,” but actually homicide trends in Philadelphia are down. Last year, there were only 266 murders in Philadelphia, the lowest number in a decade, and down more than 50% from the 559 murders in Philadelphia in 2021. In terms of per capita homicide rates, Philadelphia now ranks 12th among major U.S. cities, with the top five spots held by St. Louis, Baltimore, New Orleans, Detroit and Cleveland. So an Eagles fan was actually more likely to be murdered in New Orleans, where the Super Bowl was played, than in his hometown — a marginal improvement, perhaps, but a potential source of local civic pride: “Philadelphia: Not as Bad as New Orleans.”

Keep in mind that the spontaneous chaos Sunday night in Philly was an unofficial celebration of the Eagles’ win. The team’s Super Bowl victory parade is scheduled for Friday, and here I will remind readers of what I said about Jasmine Crockett’s Texas district:

“With a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of D+27, it is the most Democratic district in Texas.” If your employer relocated you to Dallas, and you were looking to purchase a residence in the area, I’d advise you to stay as far away from the 30th District as possible. Nothing good ever happens inside a D+27 congressional district.

Pennsylvania’s 3rd District is rated D+39. Consider yourself warned.
