New York Advocacy Group Plans ‘Very Gay Mother’s Day’ Event in Sex-Toy Shop

Posted on | April 24, 2012 | 19 Comments

A New York group that describes itself as “an advocate and resource for people with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ) parents” has announced a Mother’s Day fundraiser at a Soho sex-toy shop. “Join the queerspawn of COLAGE NYC on Sunday, May 13 for a very gay Mothers’ Day!” says the online invitation to the third annual event, advertised with the slogan “HOT CHILD IN THE CITY: Flaming Parents Make Hotter Children!”

COLAGE is a San Francisco-based organization that describes its mission on its Web site: “We build community and work toward social justice through youth empowerment, leadership development, education, and advocacy.”  The invitation to the Mother’s Day event in New York says:

For the past 20 years, COLAGE has been an advocate and resource for people with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ) parents. In fact, COLAGE is the only national youth-driven network of people with LGBTQ parents. COLAGE NYC is an active, thriving chapter that is led by a team of adult volunteers. COLAGE NYC serves youth ages 8 and up by facilitating meetings where we offer advocacy and media trainings, community building and a chance for youth to have fun with their peers!

The event invitation describes the location:

Babeland is a forward-thinking, women-owned chain of sex shops, with locations in Seattle and NYC. For over a decade, they’ve touched the lives of countless women and men, queer and straight, with their positive, fun-loving attitude about sex and a bunch of really great sex toys! They’ve generously donated their beautiful Soho store for this event, and they’ll be adding Babeland classes, gift certificates and toys to our raffle.

Where’s the celebration for those of us practicing celibacy? Oh yes, I remember now. Heaven.

FWIW, the Q is for Questioning (not sure – what I think Matthew Shepard really was); they also now have I (intersex – hermaphroditic) and A (asexual – which should disqualify them entirely).

And, yes, it’s getting sick out there, but I think that will be their downfall. Eventually, people will see this stuff (all they get now is the sanitized “Will And Grace” view) and be revolted, particularly when it comes out the real percentage of homosexuals in this country is probably around 1.3%.

PS Check out The Center For Military Readiness’ report on same sex sexual assaults in the military to see how that DADT repeal is really working.

    “Flaming Parents Make Hotter Children”.

And if flaming parents don’t do it, there are always fisting and boy/man sex advocacy in public schools to help bring them along. How could anyone possibly be suspicious of the desires of homosexual couples to adopt children?

I never cease to be amazed at how such a small minority managed to capture the minds of so many of the young. I suspect the 1.3% is somewhat low but even at say 5% have an amazing amount of political clout.

They already had in’s in every aspect of the entertainment industry.  Andrew Breitbart was right: we’ve got to get back control of the arts and entertainment.

People can deny the reality all they want that people are quite influenced by what they see and listen to, but it is a fact.

How many people took up smoking because it looked so cool onscreen?

How many people took up an instrument because, not only did they love Rock And Roll, but they wanted the groupies?

Aren’t most kids embarrassed by any references to their parents having sex?

Only if they’re raised by normal parents.

I don’t think I want to know what “forward thinking” means in this context.

So let me get this straight (pardon the pun) –

This is an invitation for the “CHILDREN” of gay “parents” to come to a party at a sex shop?

When did “Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor” quit being an arrestable offense?

I guess this just puts some truth into the old grafitti exchange:

“My mother made me a homosexual.”

“Great! Can she make me one too?”

If it were homosexual males we were talking about, why of course it would mean the same as “backward thinking”. It would just depend on which one was pushing forward and which one was pushing backwards.

Actually, there are some reports that say the 1.3%  may be a bit on the high side.

But, squeaky wheel, grease, you know how it goes.

I’m also not so sure that they’ve captured the minds of the young so much as the young (and others) want to believe themselves tolerant (and thus “nice”) people.  That’s the problem: eventually things flip and then people (usually innocent ones who never gave a moments offense) get hurt in the backlash.
In the end it will cause more evil than good, as “niceness” almost always does.

You’d be surprised/appalled at how many millennials equate gay rights particularly the right to marry as right on par with the civil rights movement of the 60s.
    Spot on about niceness.

FWIW, the 1.3% comes from a group that arrived at that figure by tracking venereal disease stats. Nurses of my acquaintance, including one that worked 8 years in Communicable Disease, say homosexuals usually have all kinds of health issues.

Ever have one of those days when you wake up and read RSM and say to yourself, “The hell with it…let’s go ahead and start the 2ACW”? This is one of those days, this is one of those posts.
