What It Feels Like to Be Targeted

Posted on | May 18, 2012 | 23 Comments

Reacting to Aaron Worthing’s account of being harassed by convicted terrorist Brett Kimberlin (link is to the shorter summary), Donald Douglas writes at American Power:

The goal of these progressive cowards was to have me fired. And what’s so amazing is how seriously those contacted by my enemies took the lies and allegations against me. Carl Salonen even had an investigation at my college initiated upon the demand of California Attorney General Kamala Harris. . . .
For people like Aaron and myself, and so many others who’ve had their livelihoods disrupted simply for exercising their First Amendment rights, there is no other more important story than the progressive left’s campaign of political (and criminal) intimidation. . . .

Read the rest. You might call Brett Kimberlin a deviant criminal sociopath, or you could call him a “progressive activist,” but the one thing you can never call Brett Kimberlin is honest.

Psychopath is the better fit for the pattern written about in the IndyStar and the books describing the history of the Speedway bombings.

Most people have consciences,  and BK has gotten the sort of default credit we normally extend to our fellows of possessing one.
Most people would never consider making such claims or taking such actions in bad faith.  He takes advantage of human nature.

It’s not terrorism to make use of one’s legal rights in the courts or to speak the truth outside the court or to offer an opinion that might be mistaken,  even if it is very annoying.

However perjury, deliberate falsehood, abuse of process, abuse of discovery,  vexatious, bad-faith litigation is something else again and can and ought to be punished more often.

I would like to see a competent litigator who knows which battles to pick and how win them, shut down that abuse.

Oh,  abuse of process I meant.   And he has been doing it since his callow bomber days.   I think you quoted this bit or something similar:

    Page 46

…”Kimberlin proved to be a difficult prisoner, filing
civil suits against many of the witnesses against him and threatening
the rest with similar actions. After his conviction, police released
yellow legal pads the had confiscated from him that they said detailed
his plans to kill key witnesses and prosecutors and rob and intimidate
    others.

And lax parole standards or not, how is it that this guy isn’t still in jail, again?

He’s like the poster boy for parole board rejects.
