Great One From Erickson

There is no permanence in politics. All is fleeting. All is cyclical. We find comfort in our cycle and distress when others rise to the top.

Right now, conservatives are bitterly disappointed. Some choose to check out mentally. Some have decided to throw in the towel. A few blame the American people. Many think the gig is up, the show is over, and destiny is undone.

Demography is not destiny and neither is the ever growing leviathan. Many think so now, but they forget the ebbs and flows of the tide of history. Conservatism is not done. The message of freedom and opportunity is not done.

No immigrant comes to the United States wanting to be on welfare. They come for a better life of hard work and success. What conservatives forget is that people forget.

And conservatives have done a terrible job reminding people.

Read the whole thing, as it’s a needed dose of perspective.

In a way, the results are Obama’s best possible punishment. The bad news is that there will be substantial collateral damage, and damage to your collateral. Great time not to be too attached to your toys.

My worry is that, as FDR II rolls us on through the Even Greater American Depression (EGAD), the saga climaxes in WWIII.

The Dimocrats like to lump people together like that because identity politics is easy. They own the Lamestream media and they just lurves to play along.

And you become like what you fight as well as empowering the government in ways that are toxic.

In case you’ve forgotten, I don’t work for you, and if Stacy has a problem with the way I police the commentariat, I’m sure he’ll let me know. In the meantime, if people insist on being impolite assholes, they can expect to get whacked. You’ve managed to avoid going over the line.

This is true, but there’s no reason we have to play along.

Of course immigrants come here to be on welfare. Just look at Obama’s aunt. When did she look for a job? Red State has blinders on. The Obama crew is bringing them in everyday.

I’m not sure why the pushback here, A_W. The “actual” immigration problem isn’t hurting the country or the economy. It can also be managed at the state level, as far as infrastructure (number of people coming in that have to be assimilated), social services (who gets aid and education), and basic law enforcement (you need to know how to drive and work without breaking the law) are concerned.

The illegal alien problem is orders of magnitude more damaging to the economy, and as we’ve seen, the feds are fighting the states on it.

So yeah, there’s two problems. But in the scale of what’s the major stuff we MUST fix to survive as a nation, the genuine “immigration” problem is near the bottom, just above global warming.

You what’s really exasperating K-Bob? Reading your comment “you cannot win a war of ideas when you allow the left to determine the language” and then checking to make sure you’re the same K-Bob who is a moderator at The Right Scoop. Yup, that’s you alright.
Uh, when conservatives care more about being “respectful and courteous” to people who hate their guts and want them dead, there is no hope we will ever win the language wars.
You, dear K-Bob, are not part of the solution you’re part of the problem and until you and all the other Beta Male Dickless Wonders get your heads out of your own asses this country is doomed.
    Hell, it’s already doomed.

That’s it? That’s the best you can do? Good luck with that ” war of ideas when you allow the left to determine the language”.
By the way, Rush has been arguing that it is NOT about immigration. But in order to argue that he did have to say the word a few times. Boy, nothing gets by you.

I wasn’t the one who banned you. And your whining about it here in public is unseemly.

(I expect to hear from Stacy or Wombat about this exchange, because they don’t want their site being used to bash Scoop’s site. Get over it.)

You brought it up, not me. My point was to call you out on your hypocrisy. Don’t whine about losing the language war when you are part of the reason we’re losing it.
And to then go running to the Mommy moderators? Oh, that’s rich.
I don’t mind being banned. I take it as a badge of honor to be banned by the Beta Male Dickless Wonders. At least I fight back. It’s just too damn bad I have to fight through the likes of you to do it.
We lost Tuesday because too many of you won’t fight back.

Because the legal immigrant problem is at least as damaging as the illegal immigrant problem. The flood of legally immigrating illiterate peasants contains no upsides and in fact tends to act as cover for illegal immigration; and not just politically. The “quality” of hispanic immigrants from Central America during the eighties, both legal and illegal, was much higher than the peasants coming here now from our southern hemisphere or the various Islamic hellholes to our east.
I would much prefer 500 thousand illegal immigrants a year coming here from Mexico, south and central America than 100 thousand moslem legal immigrants.

Mmmm. I’d have to go ahead and call that a moral equivalence, A. I just don’t see much evidence of a “flood” of legal immigrants. Meanwhile, we’re probably over 30 million illegals in the last decade.

I get that we need less legal jihadis here. Now that we’re Britain all of a sudden, I expect New York to look as Arab as London before long. We can push back on that, but it is pointless to do so unless we get control of the borders.

Over 14 million legal immigrants from 2000 thru 2010 nearly two thirds under the family reunification programs. That’s a deluge.

We don’t need less jihadis here we need NO jihadis here. How does one tell the difference between a jihadi Pakistani and a non-jihadi Pakistani? Who cares why on earth would we to figure that out?

  16. K-Bob
    November 9th, 2012 @ 10:12 pm

Look, I get that you see a problem with some of the legal immigrants. Fine. And regarding your numbers, “reunification” is from anchor babies which is from the illegal alien problem which is from not enforcing the law.

    IE, not from “immigration.”

Let’s not confuse immigration law improvements with the far more nasty, and massive problems of illegal entry.

I have a problem with most of the legal immigrants. I take no consolation from the difference between the illiterate peasants who come legally and those who come here illegally. Two thirds of legal immigrants come here under reunification, whether they’re family of children born here to illegal parents or family of those who have came here legally makes little difference. Only stopping the flow of illegals is like asking a cop who’s beating you with a nightstick to slowdown rather than asking him to stop.
