If indeed this is true and he knew his mother was going to get him committed (which she would have had to tell him because of his age) why would she have not immediately disposed of the guns? Hid them, got them out of the home, or gave them for someone she trusted for safe keeping?

I understand your sentiment though Sheryl. I don’t consider it an implication that it was her fault, but it sure would have been nice if things had been handled differently. With someone with that many issues, who had already started harming himself (burning himself with a lighter), it’s not far fetched to think that he could eventually move on to harming others. Precautions should always be taken when mental illness is a factor.
