Debating Gay Marriage With Cynthia Yockey On Da Tech Guy’s Radio Show

I’ve been invited to debate my dear friend Cynthia Yockey of A Conservative Lesbian on Da Tech Guy’s show tomorrow afternoon, on 26 January 2013, from 2-3 PM EST, if the technical gremlins are smiling.

My arguments will consist of pure, heated denunciation, in the style of that 18th century fire breather Jonathan Edwards using that immortal chestnut Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God as an outline. Why make the rubble bounce, when you can pulverize it into a brimstone-scented incense? I ask you.

Of course I’ll be doing none of that. Cynthia and Pete Da Tech Guy have been friends for years, and this is an opportunity both to showcase his new, syndicated format, to encourage Cynthia on a project that I understand is in progress, and to exchange ideas where we vary substantially in the kind of rational way you used to think possible with the Left. One does not intend to offer religious arguments, at least as a going in position.

DaTechGuy syndicated run begins at a temporary time on the Money Matters Radio network from 1-3 PM EST bringing you Matt O’Brien talking about a new initiative to stop Obamacare in its tracks in our the first hour and in our second hour the great debate. Chris Smitty Smith of The Other McCain on one side and Cynthia Yockey from A Conservative Lesbian on the other with the topic, Gay Marriage!

The call in number is 888-205-2263 the live stream for the Money Matters Network is here and or you can listen live via TuneIn.

Woo hoo!

Ought to be an interesting discussion.

Oh, this is your “dear friend”? http://americanpowerblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/cynthia-yockey-declares-war-on-gay.html She not so much “debates” people but attempts to destroy them.

    I’ll pass…

She has this one little issue where she’s extremely invested. Please come by with a broom and dustpan, in case I get the Leroy Brown treatment. :-)

I have left respectful posts on the topic on her site (and remember I support gay marriage) that never saw the light of day because they differed from Cynthia’s view. That is okay, she is fully entitled to post anything or nothing at her site.

But the sort of attack that Donald Douglas notes above is disappointing. I would not have expected that of her.

As for Perez Hilton, he could wind up dead and the list of suspects could be miles long. He has managed to alienate a lot of people. I do not support him getting beat up, but I do not get Cynthia going after you like that.

a small number of people are bisexual and we shouldn’t encourage their gay side.

    boom argument won

  • Jeremiad

in all seriousness (though there’s an element of truth to my little joke — The Bisexual Menace?,) when someone thinks all opposition to this is the moral equivalent of slavery or [insert other historical wrong here], it’s probably not worth debating.

that’s why i’ve sort of accepted that this’ll just be a cold war, with the same-sex marriage side probably winning if current trends hold. part of me hopes the Supreme Court just decides in its favor cuz i’m generally sick of it.

Gay sides? Stop listening to those old Frankie Goes To Hollywood records

I have started calling all automobiles “horses.”

People look at me like I’m crazy, so I simply tell them they are discriminating. I want the right to pack the back hatch full of hay and ride on top, bareback, like nature intended. And I call it a horse. That makes it a horse.

    H8trs.

Should point out 888-9-FEDORA also works as always

I have a vested interest in this debate, having a gay daughter. She has talked about marrying her partner, but I’m against that. The institution of marriage is one Man and one Woman for the procreation of our species.

LGBT’s that want to partner up already have the Civil Union that in effect gives them the same legal rights as heterosexual couples as far as insurance, inheritance, ect.

I’m getting fed up with the LGBT’s jamming their agenda down our throats. They are as bad as the Globull Warming crowd and every other progressive group.

    Well put, Mike.

The truth of the matter is that we need to get away from the definition of marriage as being a legal contract between one man and one woman. Marriage is all about the children…period. The family is the building block for every civilized society. Obviously there is lot to say about the subject and more than can be addressed in one comment, but the main thing to remember is that children are what matter when it comes to societal interest in the institution.
