After six years, the Obama administration learns to behave like adults and owns up to a mistake. Maybe they’ll learn to chew with their mouths closed and cover their faces when they sneeze next.

Obama couldn’t have gone because the security would have been a nightmare, but the way he behaved – he as good as ignored the march. He could have given a television address supporting the march and sent Kerry. Why did he ignore the march?

Because he doesn’t care about the issue. He’s given speeches in which he says that this kind of terrorism is like junior varsity as opposed to Kobe. I mean, really. He is completely immune to understanding the issue.

If a kid lunges at a cop and gets himself killed in the process, that’s a different matter. That, he feels on a gut level.

He just doesn’t care. And when you don’t care about something on a gut level, it shows.

I do not blame him for not traveling to France and would not if he were sparing in his travel.

Harry Truman presided over some of the most consequential diplomacy of the post war period. He traveled abroad 3x in 8 years: once for a courtesy visit to Mexico, once for a courtesy visit to Canada, and once for the Potsdam Conference.

Re Obama, it’s difficult to believe that more than about a half-dozen visits abroad he made during his first term were beneficial and useful. What do we have these diplomats for? (I mean the professionals, not the bundlers and lapsed museum curators).

Re: “ISIS Allies Hack CENTCOM Twitter, YouTube Accounts”

I see three troubling possibilities. They are not all troubling in the same way or to the same degree, but none are good.

    1. The #CyberCaliphate jihadist hackers actually have some basic capacity to hack accounts and dox people. That isn’t the same as being able to attack computerized infrastructure, but it builds the necessary skills, experience, and toolsets that could lead to that.

    2. #Anonymous is willing to do a “false flag” attack to make their declaration of cyberwar on jihadists seem more serious and necessary.

    3. The U.S. gov’t is willing to do a “false flag” attack to make their cybersecurity funding requests seem more serious and necessary.

It would have been great if Obama had gone and stood shoulder to shoulder with world leaders against terrorism.
It would have been understandable if Biden, or Kerry, or another high ranking official had gone.
It would be the Obama administration if they put more value in a photo op with a basketball team rather than put in even a symbolic gesture of opposition to Islamic terrorism.
