Bachmann Ad: ‘There Is an Honest Conservative and She’s Not Rick Perry’

Posted on | September 1, 2011 | 41 Comments

Like she’s calling him a liar or something:

“Rick Perry says he’s one tough hombre on spending,” the ad says. “But what’s his record? Rick Perry doubled spending in a decade…..And he’s supposed to be the tea-party guy?”
The ad ends with an image of Mrs. Bachmann and the line: “There is an honest conservative, and she’s not Rick Perry.”

Dear PerryBots: I didn’t produce this ad. Nobody asked me to approve this ad. I’m merely reporting what the ad says. And yeah, sure, sharing it with a few thousand readers.

But I’m strictly neutral. Blame Tina Korbe!

Robert Stacy McCain! Hiding behind a girl for spreading such nonsense? And Im not only talking about the ad, young man. I read that this ad was produced by a pac “close” to Bachman, but not the Bachman campaign itself. Am I misinformed? Such a rascal…

You gotta “adjust for population growth and inflation,” don’t you know.  Uh huh.

This guy reeks of crony capitalism. He spends money like water. He doesn’t even know what the word fiscal means. He was not the Tea Party candidate in Texas and was behind in the polls until Beck blindsided Medina and labeled her a “truther.” Texans held their nose and voted for Perry in the last governor’s race.
When did the GOP become the party of crony capitalism? We already have that with Obama. Crony capitalism is killing this country. Crony capitalism isn’t going to create jobs. It’s the same pay to play as the Chicago gang only it’s Texas style.
McCain you know you are one of the best in sniffing out a story. Cain is your dude. Why aren’t you helping him over the finish line? Just because you work for the Spectator and they are talking up this guy I can’t believe that you can’t smell how corrupt he is. You are no Erickson. You are your own man.
How is the Republican Party going to accept corrupt politician’s business as usual? This is the perfect time for a clean sweep. It’s time to take our country back. Millions of Tea Party peeps didn’t put their lives on hold for the past 3 years to protest for the first time in their lives to elect this good old Texas boy who is the king of the corrupt bastids club for POTUS. Get real. Give people a reason to throw Obama out. I have no incentive to go to the polls to vote for this cretin.
C’mon McCain. You’ve got children just like the rest of us. Is this what you want the USA to be the crony capitalist capitol of the world?
The Perry-krishnas Kool-Aid is just as potent as the Obamabots and I refuse to drink it no matter how the Republican thugs try to shove it down my throat. And I know that I’m not alone. This is BS. Perry ain’t lighting a fire under anybody’s butt to get to the polls.

What are you going to do if Sarah doesn’t run?

I will have to actually study Bachmann and Perry some more.  So far, I  hear a lot of people alleging that Perry tain’t hardcore enough.

    That is a problem.

We have serious problems. We need people who make the Left tee-totally flip out.  We need people who make RINOs weep loudly.  We need people who terrify even much of the Right.

Sarah is tough, very tough, but she’s kinda centrist.  Still, I’ll support her.  If she doesn’t run….we’ll see.

Oh yes, Mr. Romney, please go home.

Also, Rick Perry says “islam is a religion of peace”, that alone should disqualify anyone seeking public office. Ten years after thousands of us were murdered on our own soil for jihad, it is appalling how few Conservatives understand at all that islam does not hold good intentions for the United States or freedom loving people anywhere else in the world.

Exactly. I know I sound like a broken record, but Perry was the establishment candidate in Texas, not the TEA Party candidate.    He’s a millionaire, which would be ok except he made his fortune by being the governor.

We’ve already got a crony capitalist in the office – we don’t need another.

There are 3 Republicans I would vote for in the general.  Perry isn’t one of them.

Yes I know, I know. I just thought that it would get me a quick answer to sound like I was threatening you with a cookin spoon. But now You ignored my actual question: Is that thing really Bachmann approved?

  17. Anonymous
    September 1st, 2011 @ 11:26 pm

It’s produced by a separate pro-Bachmann “super PAC,” fitting into the First Amendment loophole of McCain-Feingold carved out as a consequence of the Citizens United ruling.

So, no, it was not approved by the candidate or her campaign.

Chuck’s got the right idea, properly cleaned up: Bachman distorts the record of a fellow Republican, who has his issues, but who begins to look more attractive in comparison to her. She’s now chewing on the Peter Principle and I don’t feel bad for her.

I don’t know where that leaves Angela, but it would leave me holding my nose and trying not to throw up as I vote ABO GOP, regardless of who the nominee is. I just wish he could get a presidential candidate who isn’t a useful idiot for the jihad.

That’s how I feel about Mitt, I’m thinking if it were Huntsman then cthulhu is my guy. The only way we get everything we want in one candidate would be to combine two of them. This would require either high pressure, heavy equipment or strong chemicals but I suspect we still wind up with something very messy.

No matter what we must fix congress, House and Senate. I’m as concerned about Perry’s positions on Islam and immigration as you are but am reasonably confidant he will treat the bureaucracy ugly. In the long run that might be more important. Unless he’s gaslighting us about regulation and making the federal government as insignificant in our lives as possible he might present a good possibility for eviscerating the departments. I’m not on his bandwagon and I haven’t decided on anyone yet. But we must entertain the probability that the choice will be between Romney and Perry. If that’s what we have to live with well I don’t know about you but I don’t have a passport.

Mortimer, do you ever admit when the facts don’t back up what you say?

And why, pray tell, would population growth and inflation not be factors?

You sound like other Copperheads I’ve run across, who don’t want to admit that Texas’ unemployment rate is because the unemployed are actually moving there to live under a business friendly regime.

  32. Anonymous

OK, then maybe you can refute, you know, some actual facts….

And who was the Tea Party candidate? Hutchison?

  33. Adjoran
    September 2nd, 2011 @ 4:50 am

Yeah, I’m not at his level of outrage either, but it was a lame attack.

Bachmann jumped the shark immediately after winning Ames.  She went to the event in Waterloo, her home town, but while Perry was eating and talking with the residents Bachmann stayed on her luxury bus and only appeared to make her speech and shake hands, then be whisked off like a rock star with a tour date while Perry kept schmoozing the folks.

Maybe that’s unfair.  Maybe she had a migraine.  Maybe she was trying to pray away the gay for Jon Huntsman.

But she didn’t tell us, so how could we know?  Miss Cleo’s number’s been out of order for a long time . . .

  34. Adjoran
    September 2nd, 2011 @ 5:07 am

Young whippersnappers . . . I remember when conservatives complained about Reagan’s lack of purity.

We’ve only run truly conservative candidates in two elections in the last century:  1924 and 1964.  Silent Cal had the advantage of being the incumbent (he had been Harding’s VP), and AuH2O took the worst loss up to that time.

We won’t run one this time, either, so get a grip on yourselves.  As Nixon observed over 40 years ago:  “You can’t win the [GOP] nomination without the conservatives, but you can’t win the election with just the conservatives.”

And if you don’t win, you get to sit on the sidelines and watch the other guy appoint 200 judges for life, the US Attorneys, and control the regulatory regime for four years.  Been there, done that, did not enjoy it.

Yeah, we have primaries, but they are only effective if voters are informed. It is dangerous and stupid to discourage people from vetting ALL candidates. That’s what got us BHO.

Goldwater wouldn’t even count as a conservative by today’s standards. All he cared about was fighting communists and the Cold War, and too much government. And even then, though he wanted to cut government programs, spending, etc., he still didn’t even care about the inordinately high tax rate at the time. When Kennedy lowered taxes, he criticized him for it.

If Romney would end up running against O, I would vote for Romney.  I wouldn’t like it,  but I would do it.  I’m sure that Romney loves our country, so at least we’ve got that going for us.  I think too that he would bring back some dignity to the White House.
