New Robert Spencer Book Promises To Be An Interesting Read On Islam

That’s a provocative title:

Far from an anti-Islamic polemic, Did Muhammad Exist? is a sober and unflinching look at the origins of one of the world’s major religions. While Judaism and Christianity have been subjected to searching historical criticism for more than two centuries, Islam has, astonishingly, never received the same treatment on any significant scale.”

I doubt this work will trigger any real criticism. My theory is that the Postmodern Left views Islam as a wrecking ball for their anti-Enlightenment effort. Radical Islam, anyway, view the Postmodern Left as enablers. Each thinks the other a tool, and both are correct.

Update: to Bill Quick’s question, I meant ‘real criticism’ of Islam. You could also, if you say that ‘real criticism’ refers to genuine dialogue with an idea to improving understanding, say that Spencer won’t receive real criticism, either. That Spencer will receive his umpteenth napalm shower of jingoistic blowback, one can be certain.

    Exactly right, sir Smitty.

Secularism is a power vaccum that Islam runs over and crushes like a daisy. Example: France. Without the Declaration of Independence, America is France. This is why it’s so critical to support Rick Santorum for president. The basic rights of the Judeo-Christian ethic have to stand or we are all just walking sacks of meat with “rights” determined by mob rule. If Santorum doesn’t win, I think it’s “game over” for America for a long long long time.

This is interesting. For years in debates between Christian apologists and their Muslim opponents, the Muslims have used the opnions of liberal post-modern scholars (like Bart Ehrman) to undermine the historicity of the Bible. Christian scholars have rightly noted the irony of this, considering the fact that the historical case against Islam’s historicity is order of magnitude worse.

    I’m with Ladd. Brilliant formulation.

You should do a film on it.  Unfortunately, as Penn & Teller noted when asked why they did not pick on Islam in their shows lampooning religion said “We have families.”

    Agreed, Gentlemen.

The Left thinks they will be able to control the Mohammedins.  They are in for a rude shock.  Don’t be surprised that, if the two gain dominance, it is the Left that ends up nuking the other back to the pre-Stone Age.

The United States is the only nation within The West with any will left to defend Western Civilization from the onslaught of the Nihilists [ie: the Left and the Mohammedins].  We are, truly, the last, best hope of [civilized] man on Earth.

And let us stop beating around the bush: the proper name for The West is ‘Christendom’.
