I Can’t Understand Why Everyone Hates The New Aristocracy

Rush Limbaugh reviews the skewering given to Chelsea Clinton over a debut that was to Katie Couric what #OccupyResoluteDesk is to Jimmy Carter.

Now she’s 31 years old. She is a statist-in-training. She’s working on her 14th college degree. It’s time to get serious about life now. Her future as a statist will require being good on TV–learning how to become likable and what have you–and so that’s not what this is. This is not about Chelsea Clinton learning how to do news. And, remember, there isn’t news in the news anymore. There’s no news. That’s just that’s not why people turn on the TV. There’s no news. She is dutifully learning the inner workings of television in order to learn how to manipulate it later. That’s all this is. Nobody starts at the top like this unless they’re the daughter of an ex-president who can call in some chits. Nobody starts at the top like this.

You get the meritocracy you demand. The people of the United States, as a whole, haven’t demanded anything other than Statism for so long that its sickening.

Quoting Chelsea, emphasis mine:

As a person and professionally and academically, my grandmother, who passed away at the beginning of November, had a core adage in her life, that life is not about what happens to you but about what you do with what happens to you, and she recently had been cajoling me and challenging me to do more with my life, to lead more of a purposefully public life, that being Chelsea Clinton had happened to me and that I had a responsibility to do something with that asset and opportunity, and telling stories through making a difference, I believe, will be one way to manifest that and I hope to make her proud.

The concept of ‘telling stories’ smacks of ‘narrative’ and the whole Postmodern ‘truth as a social construct’ mumbo-jumbo.

The advice I’d offer Chelsea is to reject everything, return to the Judeo-Christian underpinnings of Western civilization, and go forward with certainty about what matters in life. Consider parenthood. Deal with the fact that you’ve been brought up on shinola, lady, and maybe there will be some hope for you.

There’s no hope for that little bitch, and there never was. Let’s see, father-Bill Clinton. Mother-Hillary Clinton. And that’s just for starters. Look at the people she’s been surrounded and influenced by. Does anybody really believe this woman was conceived as an act of love, or even more laughably, lust? It wasn’t just her life that was mapped and planned out, her conception was a political act. Bill and Hillary needed a child for the same damn reason Bill decided during his second term that he needed a dog. Manson has more of a soul than this unfortunate creature.

Never mind the Judeo-Christian heritage, take some time to teach that career student some basic grammar and writing skills.  I’ve written first drafts drunk with sentences less badly run-on than that…

I appreciate your act of charity, Smitty, and I realize that it’s the result of nurture AND nature, but the fact remains, Chelsea looks and acts like Howdy Doody

Pagan:  Cranky this morning?  Maybe someone should order you a country ham from Amazon, I hear they are delicious!

I agree Chelsea did not have the best upbringing.  But maybe she could have a few kids and realize that there is a way she can contribute to society–in a rather profound way.  Having a kid (dare I say) can make a bigger impact than being President of the United States, because you do not know what those kids will do when they become adults or even multi generations from now.

The most likely difference between me and her being I won’t laugh at you behind your back when you say stuff like that.

And you think having a few kids will make Chelsea come around to your way of thinking? You do know this is the daughter of the woman that wrote “It Takes A Village”, right?

“Qualification by experience and skill” is a concept long outdated in the infotainment business.

If the suits are willing to suffer the indignity of Chelsea stumbling through reports any on-air reporter in 100th largest local TV market in the country could deliver with practiced ease, I am willing to mock their slavery to progressive icons and hypocrisy about elitism.

But if only the nepotism were limited to the children of former Presidents, we could endure it easily.  A Chelsea Clinton here, a Ron Reagan there, the infrequent appearance of Julie Nixon Eisenhower – and God bless you, Amy Carter, for keeping a low profile the last couple of decades – can even amuse.

Unfortunately, the notoriety-as-qualification extends far lower, as witnessed by Meaghan McCain, a stupid fat girl with no experience who can’t put two coherent sentences together being paid as a “writer” and TV “commentator” on political issues.
