‘Fiscal Cliff’ Deal Rumored; Obama Supporters Cheer Tax Increases on Rich

Posted on | December 31, 2012 | 20 Comments

Ace has examined the reported terms of the deal, which would raise taxes on those earning more than $400,000, if indeed it is a deal, but deal or no deal, President Obama refused to be distracted from his most important second-term priority, scapegoating Republicans:

Barack Obama held a last minute press conference today to bash Republicans and gloat about his election victory. At one point in his speech he bragged about how he’s going to be able to raise taxes on wealthy Americans.
His supporters cheered — as if they earned it.

Happy New Year, America. This is what you voted for.

Good thing those folks can afford big houses AND higher taxes, cuz their kids are coming home…

Barry had a little take hike,
    Leaving bloodless-white rich, even though,
    Everywhere tax numbers went,
    Loopholes were sure to follow.

    Yep.

No sympathy for anyone who complains about their taxes and voted for Mr. Obama.

That farce of a press conference by Obama was one of the most disgusting things ever to be shown on broadcast tv. They should have put one of those tiny “parental advisory” boxes up before it started.

The question now is whether Republicans will cave yet again (and still get blamed by Obama) and agree to immediate tax hikes and mythical spending cuts that will never happen.

I’ve had this bumper sticker on my truck since 08: A taxpayer voting for Barack Obama is like a chicken voting for Col Sanders.

Yeah, I went ugly early and avoided the rush.

CNN and Fox News are reporting that the House has decided there will be no votes today, so tighten your shorts, pilgrim, and sing like the Duke, cause we’re going off into the wild blue yonder.

I can’t wait for the screams of rage when some of these O-bots fill out their taxes next year. Those big refunds they’re used to getting (from the evil Bush tax cuts – sshhh) will disappear – Poof. If they don’t get a refund, the Amount You Owe line will make their eyes pop out. The O-bots that don’t pay taxes are also in for some unpleasant surprises.

We’ll get hit too, of course, but I’ll thoroughly enjoy reminding these people that “You voted for this – suckers”.

It’s the refundable credits we should hold fast against. People get “tax credits” when they pay no tax at all. Even if they keep the credits – as much a distortion of the code as any deduction – it is ridiculous to allow refunds in excess of taxes withheld or prepaid.

We’ve turned the tax code into a welfare distribution mechanism.

Thank God. It’s good for business, honestly.

But certainly, the Fair Tax, and a plan to bridge between the current system and the Fair Tax (some sort of 9-9-9 plan) is preferable.
