CPAC12: We’re So There

For bloggers like us, CPAC is the thing that even CINCHOUSE knows we cannot miss. (Sorry about the Herman Cain event tomorrow in Arlington, VA, Stacy). This event could also be called #OccupyMarriottWardmanPark, except that, to paraphrase Ann Coulter, conservatives tend to have jobs, showers, and a point.

This trailer makes CPAC look like an action flick:

There is indeed action, albeit of a more wonkish nature. I’m actually not a crowd person, so it really wipes me out, but that is what coffee is for. The World’s Youngest Blogger may put in an appearance,

but is not currently predicted to best Ron Paul in the straw poll.

CPAC12: get some. It’s February 9-11, 2012, so you’ve got plenty of time to form a green energy company, secure federal cash, pay your kickback to the Democrat party, go Tango Uniform, and still make CPAC. No, that’s not how we’re actually funding our appearance.

I like the ACU, they’ve done great work over the years, but I look at this as a fundraiser for them first, a social event second, and of practical value not at all for most who attend.

Whenever I’ve engaged with a group of like-minded conservatives, even for an hour, I emerge invigorated with the reassurance that the world is not completely insane, but somehow that always takes me down the path of believing that the existence of other sane people means the world may not be incompletely insane, and that is a dangerous thing to believe.

Because conservatives aren’t a majority.  Even the 40% of American voters who describe themselves as conservative aren’t really conservative by any measure most of us would agree to be accurate.

    The world IS insane.

Glad to see The World’s Youngest Blogger sports West Point colors, two of them, sort of, anyhow:  gold and black.  Sorry, couldn’t resist the friendly dig.  Go Army!  Beat Navy!

One is tempted to fire back, but for the sake of the doughty soldiers with  whom I served in Afghanistan, I’ll hold fire. 😉
