More Of This, Less Of Its Cause

I didn’t bother posting on Alan’s earlier remark. But the apology, and forgiveness, are two of the most powerful and under-utilized tools in our culture. The former, because hearts are so hard that ‘New Tone’ is mostly honored in the breech, and the latter, because politics is blood sport set to something off of No Remorse, say Steal Your Face:

In the early days of photography, it was fairly common for people to take pictures of their dead babies, often in elaborate poses.

I won’t go so far as saying Colmes is a decent individual, because I really don’t think he is. I used to listen to his show when I lived in Ohio and he was your standard moonbat. The Radio Graffiti section of his program yielded some pretty good gigs on him and his leftist buddies, but the rest of his show was standard leftist swill.

Colmes would, however, call down people on some things. Someone made a slanderous comment against Reagan after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Colmes interrupted graffiti to call the man down. He would do it only with the most egregious comments. The comment he apologized for, in this case, falls in that category.

Still, it’s a good thing he apologized and I have no desire to minimize it. I just wish it were typical of him.

There is an increasing problem among so called conservatives in this vein as well. Not as much here, but AmSpec comments are a fever swamp of so called conservatives acting like leftists. It’s disgusting to see it happen.

What a vile creature he is. Sure he apologized but the damage has been done. All of the various whackjobs scumbags and wierdo’s will have this all over facebook, twitter and the smear sites like SadlyNo. That he would say it to begin with reveals a deep character flaw.

“Love means never having to say you’re sorry.”

The little understood thing about that phrase – it’s NOT that you can do anything you want. It’s that you shouldn’t do it in the first place.

That’s Colmes’ mistake. And your point.

This is an apology that shouldn’t have been necessary. The Santorums will have to say they ‘forgive’ him. But as MrPaulRevere notes, the hurt and the damage is done.

Rick and his wife should have him over for dinner, and they can all pose for a group hug. Then Rick should get down on his knees and pray to his God in thanks that it wasn’t he who made a similar comment about Colmes or any other leftist, secure in the knowledge that if he had he would have never heard the fucking end of it.

Screw these leftists scumbags, preferably with a broken 7-Up bottle.

Deborah Leigh said… The Santorums are far better than I. Conservatives, are always quick to relieve the offender of the offense. The Left knows this and uses it successfully. The meaningless mea culpa is answered as if sincere, but the damage remains. The tolerance of the Left is not extended to Conservatives. Alan Colmes has come to the defense of some who were ill-targeted, as has Bob Beckel, but both show their true nature when employing such tactics. It is all a game to them, and Conservatives are the enemy. Alinsky taught them well.

It is the Santorum’s unique and unchallengeable privilege to decide whether or not to forgive Alan Colmes.

It is our unchallengeable privilege to decide not to forget his actions…

His twitter feed and responses showed no remorse.  This appears to be more of a measured response based on the backlash.

Forgiveness is cleansing and therapeutic.  It does not, however, absolve the consequences.

He may have apologized, but the hurt of his words is permanent.

Santorum should kick Skeletor’s ass. Challenge him to a duel of fisticuffs. If he would do that, and then inform everybody that Ron Paul and the Paultards are a cult of booger-eaters, he would win the nomination and the election.

I am no fan of Alan Colmes, but at least he apologized.  It is not much, but it is something.

And lesson people:  Some things are off limits.  Show a little respect!

Respectfully, I think you miss the point. Episodes like this reveal the chasm between how liberals and conservatives react to a given slander. A traditional conservative might react by saying ‘thats nice he apologized’. And there is nothing wrong with that per se, but one must face the fact that we are dealing with hardcore political fanatics who do not respect traditional values or rules of conduct. Colmes threw a turd on the wall that he says he now regrets throwing. But its still sliding down the wall. This is a pattern and I think an intentional tactic with these folks we should not now,or ever forgive.

I don’t know why anyone is surprised. Colmes not only has a track record of this kind of stuff (attacking Palin and Trig, worshiping at the bloody alter of abortion), but is perfectly indicative of the left’s mindset. I’m sure he’s confused as to what the fuss is about, but he’s playing the apology game because he’s expected to. To people like Colmes, babies aren’t people, they are things. Thinks to be avoided, things to be disposed of, things to be manipulated as needed. Peter Singer is a god to these people, and he’s so putrid I hope I never meet him because I’m literally not sure I could contain myself. Deep in his heart of heart Colmes probably thinks that the Santorums got lucky. Hey, they already had 3 yammering rug rats at home, man, they just dodged a bullet there! Disgusting, every one of them.
