Even in Deep-Blue California, ObamaCare Still Inspires Deep Doubts, Poll Finds

Donald Douglas points out that President Obama got nearly 60 percent of the vote in California last year, but the president’s signature health-care program is still widely unpopular there:

Sixty-five percent of respondents said people wouldn’t be able to afford the health insurance they’ll be required to have under the law’s individual mandate. Forty percent think the program will have a negative effect on what they pay for coverage, compared with 21% who expect a positive outcome.
According to the survey, 46% of registered voters expect the Affordable Care Act to be a drag on the overall economy and 34% see an economic boost. Nearly 60% think the law’s new requirements will raise healthcare costs and keep businesses from hiring more workers.

    The economic impact of all the disposable income which will now be directed to health insurance that no one wants is something which has received relatively little attention. Because this administration hid the actual costs from the public, the public had no time to adjust it’s spending/borrowing habits to conform with the reality of 2014. It’s going to be tough for a family which now realizes it will have to by O-insurance or keep the car they just bought, not to mention those on fixed incomes who will be debating between health insurance and food.

    I understand what Roberts was up to, but it is a huge gamble given the harm Obamacare will do in the sort term. Because if you were dumb enough to vote for Obama in the first place, and then stupid enough to vote to re-elect him, it is doubtful you can act rationally now.

    Oh well, that is how Republics fall. Bread and circuses for the plebs.

    California is downright schizophrenic. The people here put a Democratic supermajority in the legislature and voted for Governor Moonbeam, and yet no one I ever talk to trusts the state government. And this is in a heavily Democratic district.
