I recommend Surber’s piece on Lawrence Welk. For those of us of a certain age, with parents of a certain age and disposition, our childhood included Saturday nights with Welk’s Champagne Orchestra. A much more innocent time which we’ve lost.

We are the worse for it, I think.

Here’s a good one that delves into some details I didn’t know: Hillary Clinton Is Still Violating the Law and the Justice Department Should Take Custody of the Server

The number of 1095A’s I’ve seen as a paid tax preparer this year: 1.

If the “Affordable Care” Act was a success, I’d have seen far more of them.

Something obliquely linked to Stacy’s Sex Trouble series.

I’ve seen about half a dozen. It’s been an even split between people that got screwed, people that got a credit, and people who broke even.

I’m not sure where to put this or how to explain it, so I’ll put it here and try my best.

We have a couple of alternative newsweeklies here in the Portland area. One of them, the Portland Mercury, has a satirical column called “New Column!” It is often from the point of view of a recurring character that is sort of your grumpy uncle (possibly once removed), like a SNL skit in print form, but it can be anything random.

This week, it’s about adopting Biscuit, the Social Justice Warrior Otter. Keep in mind that this is a very liberal rag, even more than Willamette Week. Maybe they’re trying to satirize the criticisms of SJWs, but it’s spot-on.
