Rule 5 Sunday: Bad

A piece of administrivia this week: I must insert a reminder that while some of the links below are to quite tasteful and chaste pictures of attractive young women, many of the others are without question NSFW. Severely NSFW. So exercise discretion, and enjoy the links in privacy so as not to be embarrassed by your boss, children, fellow workers or S.O.’s negative reactions to exposed boobs and snooch. As you may recall, when I started doing these linkfests, I was marking some links as NSFW, but gave up on it due to the pressures of time and an underlying attitude that anyone dumb enough to click on the links in a place where others might be bothered was beyond my ability to help anyway…

I’m not as flippant about this as you are. I think mixing porn links and pictures of your little girl on the same site is a very, very bad idea. I’ve read this blog long enough to have seen Stacy brag that his “upskirt” Google-bombs about famous women rake in the pervert traffic. But for the sake of “hits,” he’s bringing those perverts to the place where he posts the pictures, names, and hometown of his wife and daughters. As a father, I would never take that risk with my kid’s safety — even if I didn’t care what such behavior would teach her. McCain fille will learn what Daddy’s Rule 5 is sooner or later. The message he sends with a business plan based on “exposed boobs and snooch” is this: girls who take off their clothes and spread their legs…pay the bills. And that’s a disgrace.

Back in the days when Smitty ran the rule 5, it was all SFW. And even once the rules changed, knowing what wasn’t was helpful. I was smart enough to figure out pretty early that anything from Soylent Green was dangerous. But it’s gotten to the point that I won’t click any of them, which is a shame. I agree with the premise–everybody likes a pretty girl. And I live at the beach, so a little exposed skin doesn’t offend. But I try pretty hard to avoid looking at nekkid girls I’m not married to, and neither my employer nor my bride is likely to laugh off the NSFW stuff.
