Detroit: What Democrats Do

If you want to see the long-term effect of Democrat policies, there is no better example than the sad fate of the Motor City:

DETROIT — This city was already sinking under hundreds of millions of dollars in bills that it could not pay when a municipal auditor brought in a veteran financial consultant to dig through the books. A seasoned turnaround man and former actuary with Ford Motor Co., he was stunned by what he found: an additional $7.2 billion in retiree health costs that had never been reported, or even tallied up.
“The city must take some drastic steps,” the consultant, John Boyle, warned the City Council in delivering his report at a public meeting in 2005. Among the options he suggested was filing for bankruptcy.
“I thought all hell would break loose — I thought the flag would finally be raised,” Mr. Boyle recalled in an interview last week. But his warning drew little notice. “It was utterly astounding,” he said.

The Democrats who have run Detroit into the ground don’t care about anything but how much more money they can loot from the city:

Some factors were out of the city’s control. As auto industry jobs moved elsewhere over the decades, for example, Detroit lost much of its affluent tax base. Lower than expected state revenue sharing did not help, nor did corruption allegations in the administration of Kwame M. Kilpatrick, a mayor who resigned in 2008 and was convicted on Monday of racketeering and other federal charges.
But recent findings from a state-appointed review team and interviews with past and present city officials also suggest a city that over the years was remarkably badly run.

What? Democrats don’t know how to run an effective government? Shades of Jimmy Carter! I never suspected such a thing!

Dan and I were in Venice, Fl, visiting our daughter and family where we met a couple from Michigan. They told us that the churches, all denominations, are getting together to try to improve things there. They want to keep the government out of their plans too.

This article entitled “What Democrats Can Do” only speaks to half of the problem. I will address the other half. Here is a list of Detroit Mayors http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mayors_of_Detroit . What sticks out? From 1974 forward, every Mayor of Detroit has been black. Detroit is but a microcosm of America, and what has happened to Detroit, is going to happen to America.

Look down thread here at the article about Kwami Kilpatrick. He was just a broutha, doing what broutha’s do best. Looting the treasury.

I think you are blinded by bigotry. There has not been a Republican mayor in Detroit since 1962, the last year in which Detroit had no deficit. 12 years of Democrat control BEFORE their first black mayor. Color and race are not a factor. Dishonesty, corruption and the Democrat tradition is.

The corruption in Detroit has been a family affair for quite a while. The Conyers family has been pretty awful. But the Kilpatrick clan has been far worse.

Dave Bing was supposed to clean it up. I think it was too big a mess for him though.

There is no better example of what Democrat policies do to urban minorities who vote Democrat than Detroit.

There is no better example of why the Obamee administration should be impeached than Detroit.

There is no better example of massive Democrat vote fraud than Detroit.

There is no better example of where America will be ten years from now than Detroit.

There is no better example of our liberal media hiding the true financial Obamee Depression that we’re in than Detroit.

It’s not just Dim misgovernance. Black Run America, no matter where you go, is in a shambles. We are seeing the same thing in Memphis, Birmingham, and now Atlanta. You can call it Raaaaacist all you like, but the facts speak far different than your knee reactionism, a reactionism that lives on the left.

But then Tricky Dicky was a liberal, and certainly not a conservative. So, you haven’t changed even after your passing.

How many GOP blacks are in charge in places like Detroit, Memphis, Birmingham and Atlanta? Black Run America is universally Dimocrat. The Dims will allow BRA to get flushed down the sewer because it is in their interest to allow it.

THAT – is exactly right.

Not to mention Mayor Colman Young was the right hand man of a Communist VP for decades.

Just look at what that Democrat leadership has brought forth in that city!

And Detroit VOTERS ‘LIKE IT’ – AS THEY VOTE FOR DEMS YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR and in record numbers.
They will never learn.

I can’t be to only one to notice this. The problem, you see, was all those thoroughly unhelpful allegations! Not the actual corruption, for which this bum was convicted (no “allegedly” required now!), but rather those pesky allegations.

NPR did a bit about Kwame a couple of days back. The article went on about him for about five minutes.

Nowhere was it mentioned that he’s a Democrat.

Well, I think black voters are blinded by bigotry.

They vote skin color over everything else.

Detroit is one case. Black unemployment under President Obama is another.

Blacks vote skin color everywhere, and everywhere they groan under the lash of poverty.

Of course, it’s all Bush’s fault. Still.

I agree with you that overall, blacks are bigots … because the socialist policies have kept them on the liberal plantation and the educational system has forcibly kept them there. Sadly, some of my policies helped in that. I SHOULD have deconstructed all of LBJ’s “Great Society” programs and policies while I was President. That will all change in 2016 when I am again elected President and can apply truthful and honorable change and true Constitutional limits to government.

The jobs left as a direct result of Democrat policies. High taxes, burdensome regulations, overpriced union labor, etc, etc, etc.

Also typical in Democrat run cities/states. Tax hikes NEVER bring in the expected revenue. People aren’t robots, they change their behavior to avoid paying higher taxes. This includes moving to lower tax Republican run cities/states and bringing their businesses with them.

Show me a single Democrat run government anywhere that isn’t rank with corruption.
