    As I predicted, the Cardinals selected a new Pope in plenty of time so they don’t miss a move of the World Chess Championship Candidates’ Tournament, which begins Friday in London and will determine the challenger to World Champ Vishy Anand this fall.

    As soon as they said the conclave would be blocked from internet access, I knew they wouldn’t take the chance of missing the opening round, featuring Aronian (World #3 rated) vs Carlsen (World #1). More on the venue and full pairings here: http://po.st/NOtqkD
