If there is no God, there is only Science and, as everyone who has studied the “climate change” phenomenon is aware, Science involves a self-selecting cabal of credentialed insiders empowered to dismiss criticism from anyone who does not concur in the sacred consensus.

So child molestation is harmless — the Science is settled!

Richard Dawkins, one of the world’s best-known and outspoken atheists, has provoked outrage among child protection agencies and experts after suggesting that recent child abuse scandals have been overblown.
In an interview in The Times magazine on Saturday (Sept. 7), Dawkins, 72, he said he was unable to condemn what he called “the mild pedophilia” he experienced at an English school when he was a child in the 1950s.
Referring to his early days at a boarding school in Salisbury, he recalled how one of the (unnamed) masters “pulled me on his knee and put his hand inside my shorts.”
He said other children in his school peer group had been molested by the same teacher but concluded: “I don’t think he did any of us lasting harm.” . . .
“I look back a few decades to my childhood and see things like caning, like mild pedophilia, and can’t find it in me to condemn it by the same standards as I or anyone would today,” he said.
He said the most notorious cases of pedophilia involve rape and even murder and should not be bracketed with what he called “just mild touching up.”

This just in: Man who has spent entire adult public life attempting a Freudian vengeance against God-As-Father-Figure-Betrayer announces that a bit of “mild pedophilia” did “no lasting harm” to his psychology.

Who told you about the Pervert Party and the New Abnormal? What about Slutwalk Insanity and the Psychotic Professor?

Does anyone else see a pattern here? Perhaps the apostles of the Gospel of Science could examine these correlations, and confirm my impression that there is a distinct non-randomness involved.

Deranged Cyberstalker Bill Schmalfeldt: Why Can’t He Explain His Cyberstalking?

Monday, the state’s attorney’s office in Maryland announced that it would not prosecute Bill Schmalfeldt for violating the peace order that prohibits Schmalfeldt from directly contacting John Hoge. And so this afternoon, Schmalfeldt sent this message on Twitter:

Isn’t that rather a specific list of people in whom Schmalfeldt now claims to have lost interest? Need I remind you that this list is in fact the list of defendants in a lawsuit Brett Kimberlin has filed claiming “DEFAMATION, MALICIOUS PROSECUTION, HARASSMENT, STALKING, CONSPIRACY, INVASION OF PRIVACY AND INTENTIONAL INFLICTION OF EMOTIONAL DISTRESS.”

This confirms what Bill Schmalfeldt said last November:

Everything that Bill Schmalfeldt has done to harass Aaron Walker, Lee Stranahan, Ali Akbar, Patrick Frey, Ken White or John Hoge in the past 15 months, he has done on behalf of Brett Kimberlin.

Why is defending Brett Kimberlin so important to Bill Schmalfeldt?

Out of all the causes on the planet that Bill Schmalfeldt might have chosen to support for the past 15 months, why Brett Kimberlin?

Good luck getting Bill Schmalfeldt to provide a rational explanation for why he has made this his life’s work.

Did you notice the similarity of language? In November — at a time when he was relentlessly harassing me — Bill Schmalfeldt declared he would stop “investigating” (which was a term he used to describe his harassment) if everybody would “forget Brett Kimberlin even exists.”

Now that Brett Kimberlin has sued several of the people Schmalfeldt has harassed? Bill Schmalfeldt says he wants us to “forget I exist”!

Quite a convenient coincidence, I’d say.

Barrett Brown and the Thug-Mob Anarchist Threat of ‘Anonymous’

Last night someone on Twitter sent me a link to a Pastebin file that contained the transcript of an IRC chat that Barrett Brown had with a hacker in March 2011. Brown at that time had been acting as unofficial spokesman for “Anonymous” for about a month. At that time, Brown was angry at Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs.

Anyone who knows my history with LGF knows how I feel about Charles Johnson. Put it this way: If Charles Johnson went out riding his bicycle on the Pacific Coast Highway and got run over by a semi truck, I’d nominate the truck driver for a Nobel Peace Prize.

OK, so no love lost there, but what this IRC chat transcript revealed was that Barrett Brown was willing to use a hacker (whose knowledge of Johnson and LGF consisted entirely of what Brown told him) to shut down Little Green Footballs — for pure personal spite.

Barrett Brown was a selfish, arrogant famewhore and, after Charles Johnson “parted ways with the right” in late 2009, Brown saw in this a potential opportunity to jump on a bandwagon that would enhance his own gloriousness, and used his blogging access at Vanity Fair to promote a proposed collaboration with Charles Johnson that would eventually become “Project PM.” Eventually, however, Brown’s wretched habits — Barrett is one of the most shameless bullshit artists ever to walk the Earth — made this collaboration impossible. By December 2010, Johnson and Brown had a falling-out, and Barrett recorded a YouTube video describing their abortive partnership:

“Obviously, it was a mutually beneficial working relationship. We had certain shared goals, you know, we said nice things about each other. We had sex on the beach. We wore condoms, though. I’m just kidding — it was barebacking. . . . Charles Johnson is not being very factual. He’s deleting comments. He’s deleting his own comments. It’s really a little much.”

That video was later deleted, but clearly Barrett Brown bore a grudge against Johnson so that, four months later in March 2011, he solicited a hacker to knock Little Green Footballs offline.

Here’s the thing: It took only five minutes for the hacker to accomplish this criminal mischief, merely to satisfy Barrett Brown’s grudge.

There’s no love lost between CJ and me, of course, but the digital vigilante ethos of Anonymous, which enabled Brown basically to put out a “hit” contract on his enemy, is what was wrong with the Anonymous project from Day One. The radical slogan, “By Any Means Necessary” — which recognizes no ethical limits in political combat, but justifies dishonesty and criminality as long as these serve to advance the Glorious Cause — encourages and incites wrongful tactics against anyone identified as an Enemy of the Glorious Cause.

And anyone can become such an Enemy, simply by becoming a nuisance to one of the leaders of the radical mob.

This brings us to the Hayekian insight: Why the Worst Get on Top.

Barrett Brown coveted leadership status with Anonymous for selfish reasons, and one of those reasons was that, if anyone disagreed with or criticized Barrett Brown, he could sic his hacker buddies on them, to shut down their Web sites, to dox them or otherwise harass them, to intimidate them, to smear them.

The Pastebin of the March 2011 IRC chat between Barrett and the hacker whose attack temporarily shut down Little Green Footballs has been deleted (because, I suspect, the person who posted it is friends with the hacker) but what I read there stunned me. This hacker had never heard of Charles Johnson or LGF, and had no knowledge of how or why the yearlong collaboration between Charles and Barrrett had ended badly. All this hacker knew was that Barrett said Charles was a bad person and, within a matter of minutes, the hacker had LGF offline.

Think about that. No matter how much you hate Charles Johnson — and I hate him like God hates sin — this vindictive hacker attack incited by Barrett Brown was entirely unscrupulous. Besides being an all-purpose douchebag, what had Charles Johnson done to deserve that, except to have once befriended Barrett Brown?

Yet who but a douchebag would ever be Barrett’s friend?

Bad causes attract bad people. Julian Assange is a bad person and WikiLeaks is a bad cause, and when members of Anonymous mobilized in support of Assange (and in support of the traitor Bradley Chelsea Manning), it was inevitable that those marching beneath the Anonymous/WikiLeaks banner would include some of the very worst people in the world, e.g., the criminal drug dealer “Sabu,” who rolled over like a punk to save himself from prison.

The radical anarchist is the enemy of all mankind. He may be able to cite a laundry list of grievances against the status quo, but his real grievance is his own childish resentment of authority, his sociopathic craving for a lawless world in which there are no hindrances to the fulfillment of his own depraved and selfish desires. Alienated from society, with no friends except those fellow outcasts who share his resentful attitude, the radical anarchist seeks to destroy, rather than to reform, the institutions of civil society. His impulses are those of a juvenile vandal hurling a stone through the glass window of a department store and claiming that this is a blow against “Corporate America.”

Anyone who thinks they can benefit from association with such radical anarchists must eventually learn a painful lesson.

Because the ethos of anarchism is wholly selfish, the radical who is your “friend” today will sooner or later betray your trust and, because his irresponsible worldview always absolves him of fault, the radical will blame you for whatever went wrong between you. And if the anarchist thug mob sides with your ex-friend in the resulting conflict, you will find the outlaw tactics you once cheered (when they were directed against your enemies) are now turned against you. And because you have, by joining this mob, eschewed the protection of law — anarchists don’t call the cops, eh? — you will find you have no effective way to fight back against your thuggish ex-friends.

Utmost savagery is therefore the only safety within the mob. Obtaining a reputation as a dangerous antagonist — a man not to be crossed, who wreaks total vengeance against his enemies — can only be accomplished by repeated acts of brutality, and such acts therefore become habitual to members of the mob. What was the purpose of the Moscow Show Trials, except to demonstrate Stalin’s ability and willingness to destroy anyone who threatened his power?

This is why I am an opponent of such tactics, and of any individual or movement that encourage such tactics. Being an enemy of radicalism is always less dangerous than being an ally of radicals. If you see someone acting on the principle that the end justifies the means, be assured their vicious means will soon become ends unto themselves.

Perhaps Charles Johnson can write a lengthy explanation of why his friendship with Barrett Brown was such a mistake. And perhaps, in writing such an account, Charles Johnson can persuade some journalists to stop celebrating Barrett Brown as a First Amendment hero.

Charles Johnson might thereby cheat a truck driver out of a Nobel Prize nomination, but this would be a small sacrifice, eh?

P.S.: Jen Emick found a Google cache of that deleted Pastebin showing Barrett inciting a hacker against Little Green Footballs. A certain Twitter account claims that this IRC log is a forgery, but that Twitter account is a Neal Rauhauser fanboy, and so is not to be trusted.

Hunting the Syrian Squirrel

You’re not supposed to say that The Syrian Crisis has been manufactured for domestic political purposes. The underlying situation is legitimately serious enough — a two-year civil war in which the dictatorship has allegedly used sarin nerve gas against civilians.

The problem is that this administration is so dishonest and cynical, so committed to campaigning and so inept at governing, that whatever they do, our natural suspicion is that they’re playing politics.

Serious People therefore cannot say what a lot of people suspect: When Congress returned from their August recess, they were due to have hearings on a series of Obama administration scandals — IRS, NSA and especially, Benghazi. By ginning up an international crisis over Syria, Obama was basically shouting: “Look! Squirrel!”

If Syria is the Big Story that all Serious People are supposed to be talking about, all the scandal investigations — IRS, NSA, Benghazi — became by definition Small Stories for Unserious People.

I hope this isn’t rude but that Blonde? When I was done with her she’d look like Daffy Duck after a safe falls on him. You’d have to peel her off and shake her out like a beach-towel until she got all of her dimensions back.

While researching Hugo Schwyzer, I came across a BuzzFeed story about a disastrous thing called the “Good Men Project,” which had the crazy idea that maleness could be a topic in the way feminists are always writing about What It Means to Be a Woman.

Guys just being guys without being ashamed of it — we don’t need any “studies,” we don’t need any “rights,” and we don’t need permission.

See that’s the thing: Guys who crave female approval so much that they’ll jump through hoops and degrade themselves to get it. The minute you start playing that game, you’ve failed. No woman worth having is interested in a guy without a basic sense of pride.

Frankly, nowadays, there aren’t that many women worth having. I married one. The rest of you losers are on your own.

Hugo Schwyzer Update: Professor Admits He Kept Boning His Feminist Students

Remember when “male feminist” Professor Hugo Schwyzer melted down, he admitted he’d slept with more than two dozen female students but said it stopped in 1998? Yeah, he totally lied about that:

Pasadena City College’s porn professor Hugo Schwyzer admitted Thursday he had sex with students as recently as 2011 and said he has admitted himself to a psych ward for the fifth time this summer. . . .
On Tuesday a woman who identified herself as a former PCC student wrote on a blog about having sex with Schwyzer in his campus office in 2008. The former student said she knew of at least one other girl who also had sex with the porn professor. . . .
In a statement issued late Thursday afternoon, PCC officials said the college would “act swiftly to conduct an investigation and hold Mr. Schwyzer accountable for his actions while an employee.”
The student, who identified herself as “Megan Moore” said she enrolled in Schwyzer’s History 25B class “Women in American Society” in spring semester 2011. After meeting for coffee at Starbucks on North Hill Street and Walnut Avenue, the student said she developed a relationship with Schwyzer.
After that, “We continued to meet for sex, sometimes in his office with the door locked, for the next seven months until I graduated PCC in December 2011,” she wrote.
“Throughout his spectacular recent fall from grace Hugo has maintained that he never slept with his students after 1998,’ she continued. “That simply isn’t true. I know one other girl besides myself with whom Hugo was having sex the same semester.”

Hat-tip to Josiah Ryan at Campus Reform, the girl’s Tumblr is here. She says she “was one of the organizers of the 2011 SlutWalk in Los Angeles. I am 23 years old now and I was 20 when I helped with the event. I was also sleeping with Hugo Schwyzer before and for some time after the event. . . . I kissed him in the parking lot of the Starbucks on Hill and Colorado in early May 2011. The next week I brought him back to my apartment where we had sex. We continued to meet for sex, sometimes in his office with the door locked, for the next seven months until I graduated from PCC in December 2011.”

SlutWalk organizer, eh? I am so surprised . . .

Nothing says “equality” and “empowerment” quite like getting boned by your college women’s studies professor.

Pasadena City College officials say they’re investigating. They paid Professor Schwyzer more than $90,000 a year to bone his students.

UPDATE: Kathy Shaidle had this story last week, and quotes StudentActivist.net:

Today’s revelations make it abundantly clear, if it wasn’t before, that there is no place for Schwyzer in the classroom. Not now. Not ever.
Schwyzer should resign from PCC immediately. If he refuses to resign, he should be fired. Period.

But boning student feminists for $90,000 a year is his job. Certainly no one would do it for free . . .

UPDATE II: The former student who reported having sex with Schwyzer also reports on her blog that PCC officials and Schwyzer’s “fangirls” are harassing her. The two PCC students who organized SlutWalk LA in 2011 were Mon-Shane Chou and Simone Dugal Webster, according to online sources, so by process of elimination, it must have been one of them. It seems kind of odd that she would demand that “the truth” about Schwyzer be known, while concealing the truth about herself. But feminist “equality” means that women never have to take responsibility for anything.

UPDATE III: After doing some additional research, I’m going to guess (a) some facts in the Tumblr post were deliberately changed in an attempt to preserve the writer’s anonymity, and (b) Mon-Shane Chou was “my wonderful student” in more ways than one.

That’s just a guess, of course. Chou is now a senior at Cal-Berkeley, where she is involved with the student Democrat organization. Has Chou denied sleeping with Schwyzer? This would be problematic, because Simone Webster has had the same boyfriend for four years.

Anyway, the idea that someone could anonymously expose Schwyzer for having such an affair seems rather dubious.

The Tumblr post says Schwyzer “did not abuse me or take advantage of me,” so she’s not the victim of a crime. In fact, she’s kind of bragging that Schwyzer “told me I make him weak with lust.”

Whoever wrote that needs to ‘fess up, because otherwise everyone will probably suspect it was Cal-Berkeley senior Mon-Shane Chou.
