‘Underlying Psychological Co-Morbidities’

School shooter Audrey ‘Aiden’ Hale

Thanks to The Tennessee Star, this week we learned a whole lot more about Audrey Hale, the deranged 28-year-old woman who wanted to be a man named “Aiden” and who killed six people at Covenant School in Nashville before being shot dead by police. Among the revelations this week, we learned that Hale had been a “patient of mental health professionals at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC)” since she was six years old! Heck of a job, “mental health professionals.”

At the time she perpetrated the Covenant School massacre, Hale was under treatment by both a psychiatrist and a therapist. The distinction is important — a psychiatrist is an M.D., who can write prescriptions, whereas a therapist is basically a counselor, someone with a degree in psychology, to whom the patient talks about their problems. So medication and conversation are, in such a case, handled by two separate “mental health professionals” who, we suppose, consult with each other.

The fact that Audrey/“Aiden” Hale was not healed by this treatment — to the contrary, she became a worst-case scenario of therapeutic effectiveness — is not unusual. Most people who are subjected to treatment by “mental health professionals” never really become healthy. With the assistance of anti-depressants or other medications, they may be able to get through life OK, but how can you say turning someone into a drug addict is “success”? Excuse me for speaking so bluntly, but if the goal is “mental health” and you require Prozac (Zoloft, Paxil, etc.) just to make it through the day? No, you haven’t achieved “mental health.”

Two packs of Marlboro a day — is that an effective mental health treatment? Well, I haven’t committed mass murder, so in terms of therapeutic effectiveness, maybe my track record isn’t too bad. Certainly, I would argue that my record is better than the “mental health professionals at Vanderbilt University Medical Center,” but I digress . . .

The Tennessee Star has obtained dozens of pages of Audrey Hale’s journals, which have been called (somewhat inaccurately) a “manifesto,” and have been cranking out a series of headlines like these:

Covenant Killer Audrey Hale
Used Federal Pell Grant Funds
to Buy Guns She Used in March 2023
Mass Shooting at Christian School

Covenant Killer Audrey Hale Claimed
to Call Suicide Prevention Helpline
Five Times, Denied Being ‘Bi-Polar’
in Journal Entry

Covenant Killer Audrey Hale
Declared Herself ‘Most Unhappy Boy Alive’
in Recovered Journal

Vanderbilt Search Warrant
Revealed Prescription List
for Covenant Killer Audrey Hale,
Confirms Fantasies About School Shooting

This steady drip, drip, drip of headlines ultimately makes the point, as Ed Driscoll says at Instapundit, “No wonder the FBI and Nashville authorities have been suppressing her manifesto” — it’s an absolute gold mine of insight into the craziness that inspired this homicidal lunatic, and the feds don’t want you to know about it. That’s confirmed by perhaps the most shocking story released this week:

FBI Memo on ‘Protection of Legacy Tokens’ Sent to Nashville Police in May 2023 Opposed Release of Covenant Killer Documents, Cited Destruction Precedent
The Tennessee Star has obtained the FBI memo sent to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) on May 11, 2023 from a source familiar with the Covenant killer investigation.
The letterhead and heading used for the memo indicate it originated at the FBI’s Critical Incident Response Group in Quantico, Virginia. The opening paragraphs reveal it was sent by the FBI’s Behavioral Threat Assessment Center (BTAC), the home of the FBI’s Behavorial Analysis Unit (BAU-1). The memo was not signed.
The memo does not specifically mention Audrey Elizabeth Hale, who fatally shot three 9-year-old students and three faculty members in the devastating March 27, 2023 attack at the Covenant School in Nashville.
It was, however, sent two days after Star News Digital Media, Inc., which owns The Tennessee Star, and the company’s CEO, Michael Patrick Leahy, filed a lawsuit against the FBI in federal court to compel the release of Hale’s written documents, including those sometimes called a manifesto, and one day after Star News Digital Media, Inc. and Leahy filed a lawsuit against Metro Nashville Davidson County Government in state court for the same purpose.
The FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit has been involved in the MNPD’s investigation into the Covenant killings since the very first day, sources familiar with the investigation have told The Star. MNPD Public Affairs Director Don Aaron confirmed the FBI’s involvement in the investigation to The Star when asked about the FBI memo on Tuesday, though he did not specify the date at which that involvement began.
“As has been publicly acknowledged, the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit has assisted in this Homicide investigation,” Aaron told The Star.
“Any material related to that assistance that is part of the open case file is protected. As I referenced earlier today, our Homicide team is working to bring this matter to a conclusion,” Aaron added.
Addressed to Metro Police Chief John Drake, the memo “strongly discourages” MNPD from releasing “legacy tokens” left by a mass murderer.
The FBI memo explains those who commit mass shootings “often leave behind items to claim credit for the attack and / or articulate the motivation behind it.” The agency “refers to these items as legacy tokens.”
The term “legacy token” appears to be a creation of the FBI. A June 2018 FBI document studying pre-attack behaviors of active shooters defines “legacy tokens” as “a communication prepared by the offender to claim credit for the attack and articulate the motives underlying the shooting.” . . .

You can read the rest of that, but the upshot is, the FBI’s Behavioral Threat Assessment Center ordered a cover-up, deliberately seeking to suppress important information about this mass murderer.

That ought to make a lot of people angry. The basic argument for transparency about police proceedings is this — what the police do, they do on behalf of the public, under the authority of the government, at taxpayer expense. Because we are paying for the police, we have a right to know what they’re doing. There are, of course, many situations where maintaining the integrity of an investigation requires police to keep some information out of the public eye, so as not to hinder the apprehension and prosecution of criminals. We get that. But generally speaking, we want the names and mug shots of suspects arrested for crimes, and expect that such official court documents as arrest affidavits, applications for search warrants, etc., will be released to the public.

In the case of Audrey Hale, of course, the suspect is dead, and there is no argument to be made for protecting the integrity of the investigation of her crime, from the standpoint that it might prevent her from being convicted in court (which is the usual justification for investigative secrecy). Dead criminals don’t file appeals. However, given the fact that Hale was being treated by “mental health professionals,” there is some reason to think that the people treating Hale failed in their duty to report her as presenting a danger to public safety. It is being alleged that Hale told her therapists about her fantasies of shooting up a school, and the therapists neglected their legal obligation to report this credible threat. So there are some people who may be in legal jeopardy and, if Tennessee authorities are actively investigating that angle with an eye toward criminal prosecution, there arguably might be justification for keeping a lid on this stuff. BUT IT’S BEEN MORE THAN A YEAR ALREADY!

This slow-motion foot-dragging approach by Nashville police ought to be the subject of action by state authorities in Tennessee — the governor, the legislature, the state attorney general. Something has gone badly wrong in how authorities in Nashville are handling this case, and I think the FBI’s involvement is part of the problem. Merrick Garland and the powers that be at the Department of Justice have a political agenda, and I don’t think it’s a far-fetched “conspiracy theory” to suggest that the DOJ wants to keep the Covenant School massacre case from getting the kind of public attention it deserves. Here you have a transgender-identified lunatic murdering innocent people, including three children, at a Christian school, and hey, maybe that doesn’t look so good for the Democratic Party’s LGBTQIA+ agenda, ya think?

Of course, we knew the basic facts early. They hadn’t even started mopping up the blood at Covenant School when we learned that Audrey Hale was a “high-functioning” autistic who “relatively recently announced she was transgender.” And these two factors — autism and a transgender obsession — are related in ways that are more than coincidental. The American College of Pediatricians released a statement urging medical organizations to stop pushing transgender treatment “for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex”:

Instead, these organizations should recommend comprehensive evaluations and therapies aimed at identifying and addressing underlying psychological co-morbidities and neurodiversity that often predispose to and accompany gender dysphoria.

Well-informed observers have known about this for years: A very high percentage of young people who declare a transgender identity also have a documented history of depression, anxiety, personality disorders, autism or some other psychiatric disturbance. You can’t cure psychosis with mastectomies and hormones. As I keep reminding readers — and “mental health professionals” — Crazy People Are Dangerous.

About That Book You Didn’t Read

Posted on | June 7, 2024 | 1 Comment

It is not my habit to criticize or argue with people in the comments, but I got a bit miffed by this today:

There’s a phenomenon called “political lesbianism.” That’s a situation where a heterosexual woman becomes so filled with feminist zeal, and political hatred of men, that she actually becomes a lesbian despite not actually being attracted to women. Her lesbianism is a political act, not a sexual or romantic one.

To which I replied curtly:

Dude, I wrote an entire BOOK about this.

This kind of thing makes me shake my head in despair. What is the point of writing about politics or culture, if your writing has so little impact that random strangers assume they are qualified to lecture you about subjects upon which your expertise is (or at least, should be) widely known?

There is, of course, a personal butt-hurt involved, an emotional pain in not getting credit for my work. But I understood, back in 2014 when I started writing about radical feminist and readers kept saying “you ought to write a book,” that such a book might be largely ignored. Why? Because everybody considers themselves to be an “expert” on feminism, even if they have never read a single book on the subject and cannot name even one important feminist author. Part of the problem that Sex Trouble was meant to address was the yawning gap between the public perception of what “feminism” is and the reality of what feminists actually advocate, especially in academic Women’s Studies programs.

That’s why I spent more than a year accumulating a library of feminist literature, including multiple anthologies used as textbooks for introductory Women’s Studies courses, books by leading professors of Women’s Studies, and hard-to-find early radical feminist tracts which — although long out of print — were foundational to the 1960s Women’s Liberation Movement, and frequently cited in footnotes of later feminist works. Let me share just this one relevant quote:

“[Charlotte Bunch’s 1972 manifesto] ‘Lesbians in Revolt’ argued one powerful and uncompromising principle: because sexism is the root of all oppression and heterosexuality upholds sexism, feminists must become lesbians and lesbians must become feminists if we are to effect a revolution. . . . To state that feminists must become lesbians assumes that lesbianism is a matter of choice and conviction, not biological conditioning or sexual behavior. Moreover, lesbians must also become feminists, that is, they must ground their sexuality in a political discourse if any social change is to occur. . . .
“Lesbian criticism of any and all varieties was constructed by flesh and bone lesbians starting in the early 1970s. For us, feminism was not a distinct discourse that spoke ‘for’ lesbians but an epistemology used by lesbians to speak for ourselves. . . . I believe it can be shown that, historically, lesbianism and feminism have been coterminous if not identical social phenomena.”

Bonnie Zimmerman, “Confessions of a Lesbian Feminist,” in Cross Purposes: Lesbians, Feminists, and the Limits of Alliance, edited by Dana Heller (1997)

Does anyone dare dispute what this feminist said more than 20 years ago? Professor Zimmerman is rather important:

She became one of the founding members of the Women’s Studies College at State University of New York Buffalo (SUNYB) in 1970. She was offered a temporary position as a lecturer at San Diego State University (SDSU) in their Women’s Studies program (the first in the country), and used this opportunity to begin teaching lesbian literature in 1979. In 1983, she became Professor of Women’s Studies at SDSU. She was President of the National Women’s Studies Association from 1998 to 1999, and acted as the Women’s Studies Department Chair at SDSU from 1986 to 1992 and again from 1995 to 1997.

Professor Zimmerman was a pioneer and recognized leader in the field of Women’s Studies, and notice who she cites as an authority on the link between heterosexuality and the oppression of women: Charlotte Bunch founded and led a feminist group known as The Furies, and her 1972 manifesto “Lesbians in Revolt” was included in a 1975 book she edited.

Guess who bought a copy of that book in 2014? Me, because I considered it essential to understanding the subject. And it proved worth the cost, as it included an essay (“Lesbians and the Class Position of Women”) by Margaret Small, who was a member of The Furies and who, perhaps not coincidentally, was a colleague of Professor Zimmerman in founding the Women’s Studies program at SUNY-Buffalo. To quote Margaret Small:  “In terms of the oppression of women, heterosexuality is the ideology of male supremacy.” Yet in 2015, this woman was actually employed by a public school system in Buncombe County, North Carolina!

Did I mention that Charlotte Bunch, who founded The Furies and edited the book that included Small’s denunciation of heterosexuality, became a distinguished academic at Rutgers University and in 1999 was honored with the Eleanor Roosevelt Award for Human Rights by President Bill Clinton? From the introduction to Sex Trouble:

Those who would attempt to separate “mainstream” feminism from the more radical aspects of its ideology cannot avoid the problem that the faculty and curricula of university Women’s Studies programs — where feminism wields the authority of an official philosophy — are disproportionately dominated by radical lesbians. This hegemonic influence is not merely manifested in the fact that outspoken lesbian activists are employed as directors and professors in Women’s Studies programs everywhere, but also plainly evident in the textbooks and readings assigned in their classrooms. Even if a moderate heterosexual feminist were to become a Women’s Studies professor, she would find it nearly impossible to assign a textbook that was not crammed with radical anti-male/anti-heterosexual readings from lesbian feminists like Charlotte Bunch, Adrienne Rich, Audre Lorde, Janice Raymond, Judith Butler and others.

So when Disney hands over the Star Wars franchise to lesbians — in order to kill the franchise, of course — I can perhaps be forgiven for saying, “I told you so.” From the moment I began exploring this subject in 2014, it became obvious that the reason why everybody was suddenly talking about feminism was part of an orchestrated operation to mainstream feminism, in order to boost Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. It was not a coincidence, to cite one obvious example, that in 2014 “Harry Potter” star Emma Watson was recruited to be the United Nations “ambassador” for feminism, promoting the various slogans and hashtags to her millions of young fans. You’d have to be a damned fool to think #HeForShe was anything other than part of a Democratic Party propaganda campaign laying the groundwork for electing Our First Female President. Most people, however, did not connect the dots, just like they didn’t connect the dots between this pro-Clinton operation and the notorious 2014 rape hoax at the University of Virginia. (“Haven Monahan” could not be reached for comment.)

Do you see how events of 2014 are connected to what’s happening now at Disney? Once you make feminism “mainstream” — and many millions of dollars were spent to do that, circa 2014-2016 — certain consequences can be expected. “We must have more women directors!” And, “We must have more LGBTQIA representation!” Next thing you know, lesbians have destroyed the Star Wars franchise, deliberately. “At Long Last, ‘The Acolyte’ Gives Us a Star Wars Series Made by a Lesbian” is the review headline at the lesbian blog Autostraddle, celebrating the destruction of a franchise (for which Disney paid $4 billion — that’s billion with a “b” — in 2012) by making a series that includes exactly zero white men in the cast, and which has exactly zero heterosexual romance plot-points.

Was this specific outcome predicted in Sex Trouble? No, but as I kept saying: Feminism Is a Totalitarian Movement to Destroy Civilization as We Know It. The destruction of your favorite movie? Not a coincidence.

Maybe now would be a good time to read that book.

‘The Acolyte’: Disney Now Dancing on the Shattered Ruins of ‘Star Wars’ Franchise

Posted on | June 7, 2024 | 1 Comment

‘Gayest Star Wars EVER!’

You’re not going to watch the new series The Acolyte because it’s only going to be streaming on Disney+ which costs $7.99 a month. Disney+ is the third-place streaming service, behind Netflix and Amazon Prime, and trust me when I say The Acolyte will not boost Disney+ in the rankings, because the people involved in making The Acolyte are proudly boasting of its anti-white, anti-heterosexual agenda. Just watch:

With avowed lesbian Leslye Headland as “showrunner” (executive producer) and avowed lesbian Amandla Stenberg as the star, The Acolyte could scarcely be more explicit in its intent. No doubt the executives at Disney greenlit this project as a political “gotcha” against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and an in-your-face gesture against Republicans in general. Basically, Disney is weaponizing Trump Derangement Syndrome as a business strategy, and the results . . . Just a quick Google search: “Reports show that The Walt Disney Company lost $123 billion in market value in 2022 alone.” How long can a company continue losing that kind of money? And yet the people running Disney nowadays seem to think they can keep turning out woke garbage, destroying once-valuable franchises, with no repercussions. Ace of Spades has much more on this, including this quote from a critic who’s seen previews of The Acolyte: “The third episode of The Acolyte will finally kill Star Wars for the vast majority of Pre-Disney Star Wars Fans. Based on LucasFilm comments of late, they are OK with that.” In the immortal words of Iowahawk:

On MSNBC ‘Kerosene Maxine’ Labels Republican Voters ‘Domestic Terrorists’

Posted on | June 5, 2024 | 2 Comments

Of all the people to be criticizing inflammatory rhetoric! Some readers may not be old enough to remember why California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters got the nickname “Kerosene Maxine.” During the Rodney King controversy leading up to the deadly 1992 Los Angeles riots, Waters was one of the most irresponsible voices in the South Central district she represented — pouring kerosene on the flames of hatred, so to speak. Her entire career has been built on smearing white people as “racist.”

“I believe George Bush is a racist. I believe he’s a racist for many, many reasons. . . . [Bush] is a mean-spirited man who has no care or concern about what happens to the African-American community in this country. I truly believe that. . . . I think that Bill Clinton is much better on the race question than George Bush. Not good enough, but most whites in America are not good enough on the race question, and we all understand that. I just think that George Bush is worse than most.”
Maxine Waters, July 8, 1992

She’s talking there about the first President Bush — you know, the mild-mannered country club Republican who advocated for a “kinder and gentler America.” And notice what she’s saying: Most white people are “mean-spirited” racists, but Bush was “worse than most.”

All that is necessary preamble to her latest insult:

Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) said on this week’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Saturday Show” that former President Donald Trump’s rhetoric on “revenge” was so divisive she is worried it could start a civil war.
Host Jonathan Capehart said, “Congresswoman Waters, your name has been invoked several times. We will give you the last word. What do you think?”
Waters said, “Let me say when I tweeted about Trump talking about the Constitution, I basically said in my tweet that he had disregarded the Constitution he doesn’t have ant respect for the Constitution, I got over a million hits on that. I think the American people see through him and, they will be guarded in how they deal with the election.”
She continued, “Let me just say this, I am worried that he is so divisive and that he is talking about retribution and about revenge and I think that is dangerous. He has even mentioned civil war saying there will be bloodshed. I will spend some time with the criminal justice system, with the justice system asking them, tell us what’s going on with the domestic terrorists? Are they Preparing a civil war against us? Should we be concerned? What is he doing with this divisive language? It is dangerous.”
Waters added, “It is not just that he is a criminal, this is a man who disrespects the Constitution and democracy and we have to figure out what they are doing as domestic terrorists tried to take over the government January 6, how far is this going to go? Are they going to be attacking?”

This is deeply ironic, coming from a woman who notoriously called the 1992 Los Angeles riots a “rebellion,” “understandable,” “acceptable,” “a spontaneous reaction to a lot of injustice.”

Maxine Waters thinks Republicans are threatening violence? She thinks Trump is “divisive” one? Trump “disrespects the Constitution”?

As I say, this is an insult, not an argument. Political rhetoric, properly understood and properly exercised, is about persuading people, and should be directed toward matters of public policy. Maxine Waters is not seeking to persuade anyone, but is merely name-calling, making defamatory smears against her opponents. What she and other Democrats hate most about Trump is that he delights in playing the same game Democrats habitually play. You want to turn politics into a name-calling competition? You think it’s OK to label any and all Republicans “racist”? Donald Trump will see your bet and raise you a thousand.

The co-founder of the Black Panthers just endorsed Trump. Deep in my heart, I do believe, we shall overcome the Democratic Party some day.
