A Belated ‘Roll Tide!’

Posted on | September 5, 2010 | 10 Comments

Yesterday, I was so excited by Jax State’s upset of Ole Miss that I forgot to blog Alabama’s 48-3 season-opening stomp of San Jose State. My buddy Tookie sent me the highlight video. At the 30-second mark, you’ll see ‘Bama’s backup QB throw 39 yards for a touchdown to Julio Jones, who makes a spectacular one-handed catch:

When Alabama scores 48 points without their Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram — including 111 yards and two TDs by redshirt freshman Eddie Lacy — that makes me think I need to start planning for a trip to Arizona for Jan. 10. But before we start thinking ahead, next up is my trip to Delaware.

We’re talking about SJSU football here, it would’ve been worrisome if Alabama hadn’t scored 40+ points.

I am an alumnus of San Jose State. It’s obvious that Alabama pulled this one out simply because they had home field advantage!

What the H*ll is SJSU doin on Alabama’s schedule?

The season does not really begin until the first conference game in the SEC. EVERYBODY KNOWS IT.

Oregon stomped a tougher opponent 72-0. I wouldn’t make those plans for AZ until after Thanksgiving.
