Really, this Pelosi not debating her under dog opponent is not a surpise at all. That’s what any clear front runner of either party would have done any year. But this year is different in magnitude, courtesy of Republican candidates:

With a month left until the midterm elections, there is something noticeably absent from some key statewide races: the candidates.

They’re ducking public events, refusing to publicize the ones they do hold and skipping debates and national TV interviews altogether – out of fear of a gotcha moment that will come back to haunt them.

The business of minimizing exposure to the public, and thus risk, has extended to skipping or limiting the number of candidate debates — a common theme this year among Republicans hoping to ride the wave of conservative energy and not give their rivals a platform.

Avoiding or limiting the number of debates is a time-honored front-runner’s practice, but this year candidates appear to be taking it to a whole new level.

I’ve watched this guy’s campaign ever since I first saw him on the Right Networks’ “Running” series… if there was a better guy to run against the Wicked Witch of the West than Mr. Dennis I can’t think of him.
