Pregnancy Is Not a Disease and Contraception Is Not ‘Health Care’

Why, therefore, does Obama want to make insurance coverage for birth control mandatory?

Virtually all health insurance plans could soon be required to offer female patients free coverage of prescription birth control, breast-pump rentals, counseling for domestic violence, and annual wellness exams and HIV tests as a result of recommendations released Tuesday by an independent advisory panel of health experts.
The health-care law adopted last year directed the Obama administration to draw up a list of preventive services for women that all new health plans must cover without deductibles or co-payments. While the guidelines suggested Tuesday by a committee of the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine are not binding, the panel conducted its year-long review at the request of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

Maybe Mr. “Catholics for Obama” Douglas Kmiec can explain this to the idiots he duped in 2008. Meanwhile, this looks likes a good occasion to mention ForRepeal.com:

What total clowns.  They truly understand nothing about America.  For that matter, my wife (an M.D.) and I are often mystified as to why normal childbirth is covered under insurance.  As noted, it’s not a disease.

The disease is womens’ votes walking away from Obama. The cure is abortion-on-demand and abortion-is-paid-by-taxpayers, stat.

Well, I can understand and (as a father of six) appreciate maternity coverage. Delivering a baby can be very expensive, when you consider the possibility of complications for mother and baby. Covering access to obstetric and pediatric care therefore is arguably a public good, although I would never approve of government mandating coverage for that, or for anything else. Health insurance ought to be entirely a private contracting arrangement between consumers and providers.

But mandating coverage for contraception is a telltale move. As I say,  treating contraception as “health care” requires us to view pregnancy as a disease to be prevented. Furthermore, the simple fact is that relatively efficient contraception – the combination of condoms and spermicidal foam – is quite cheap and available at your local CVS pharmacy without a prescription. (For that matter, you can buy 100 condoms via Amazon for $12.)

Nor should we forget that the cheapest method of contraception is absolutely free: Don’t have sex.

For some reason, liberals never think of that option.

I am not for government funded abortions, but I do not mind paying for Democrat birth control.  The less of them the better.  Meanwhile folks like you, Smitty and me can breed a new generation of patriots.

  • Anamika

You have been duped that there is an issue pro-life vs. pro-choice as if a father considering his 16yo (raped or else) pregnant daughter would have a more loving and more fitting to circumstances reaction according to his belonging to one party or the other ….
:) are you a bit naive-funny sometimes in your haste to be political animals with opinions that matter?

The duping of would be patriots by filling time and space with trivial, but emotionally charged issues is the most common way to avoid having to talk about more important things.

Strange pairings that people take on as their own important matters should be a clue that duping is going on.

Strange pairing such as guns good, abortion bad, or abortion good and guns bad, practically rule every campaign, but rampant gang violence and some of the worst and least accessible and most expensive health care in the modern world, etc. etc. is glossed over quickly…instead it’s just either please don’t take away our big guns that no one needs, or please don’t keep us from medically ending the pregnancies that the most simple contraception would have prevented.

Perhaps one of the unstated goals of ObamaCare is population control – i.e., saving Gaia by saving the people from themselves: on the front end, discourage family formation; on the back end are the death panels.

In addition to lowering total population levels, use other draconian Luddite policies to reduce the carbon “footprint” of the (now smaller in size) masses.

What they don’t realize is that environmentalism is bad for the environment; and if Watermelon-ism corrupts and destroys, absolute Watermelon-ism corrupts and destroys absolutely.

Your post makes no sense. I think you have something to say, but your colloquialisms and construct aren’t American English.

Anamika, you are a walking example why Democrats should not breed.  I would never impose that on you.  But I am happy to put you on the pill so your damaged genes are not passed down to future generations.

Too easy.  Plus Libtards can’t control themselves on any other aspect of their lives, what makes you think they can control their sexual urges.  Let them rut like pigs, but let’s fund their breeding control too.  As for cost it is minimal and the less of them over time will prove to be invaluable.

  • Joe

Heck, I bet we can pass the fedora of freedom and get a collection here to get you on the pill girl.

Stacy, I agree on all points– people should be free to contract privately for whatever health coverage they wish.  And of course “free” maternity care paid for by third parties drives up prices for everyone.  I know if there are birth complications that things can get very expensive– it is those unexpected complications that are the sorts of things insurance should be used for.  But if you can’t even afford basic insurance to pay for  maternity care, how are you going to pay to support a child?  In those cases, people need to start taking a hard look at their “romantic” practices.

Why do you think Democrats have abortions in such large numbers? Deep down in their diseased souls they know they do not have the right to pollute the gene pool with their alien DNA.

Anamika is a European. She came over here evidently because it was a fucked up place and she wanted to start a new life. That’s why we should close our borders to all immigration. People like her come here, get homesick and immediately set about to make all our lives as miserable as her own.

    Dear Comrade Barry:

Which part of “We’re out of freakin’ money!” was unclear to you?

    Respectfully yours,

I don’t think that democrats or otherwise have abortions or use contraception in order to avoid children altogether. I think it’s just to put it off until they feel like they are in a good enough situation (mentally and financially) to raise a child. So unfortunately (for you), eventually democrats ‘rutting like pigs’ will lead to more democrats.

In order to achieve their goals, the Left must make Chaos rule the land.  They desire that individuals not be in control of anything so that they can move in and impose order.  This is why the term David Graham came up with to describe them, ‘Chaotics’, is dead solid perfecy.

  • http://thecampofthesaints.org Bob Belvedere

And they would take a look at those practices very carefully if they were deprived of the welfare safety net, if they could not count on the gummit to bail them out.
