“Walking Dead” Shocker: Frank Darabont To Step Down

this could only improve on the series.. It was good, not great, to start with.  There was one event that went nowhere that was mind boggling stupid.  Was the episode where it showed the gang bangers taking care of the old people  at the care center.   It was clunky and very out of place. And the redneck brothers were annoying..Darabont never leaves a trope alone..

I’ll take your word for it; with the sole exception of the “Game of Thrones” HBO series, which I’m seeing on the insistence of an old friend, all I ever watch on TV is baseball.

The only problem with Thrones is that is has too many stories going on at once — otherwise it’s damn good.

Oh…and the gratuitous T&A and violence is much appreciated.

Nitpick: “Only” 14 of those Ks were C.C.’s work–and if not for the rain delays he looked like he would have ended up with 20 and a perfect game.

It’s being pretty faithful to the books in that regard.

Gratuitous? Sir, all that sex and violence is essential to the plot! Especially the dwarf sex! 😉

The main character had a bag of guns he dropped when he stumbled upon a street full of zombies..

He escaped and found help to go back and pick up the guns..  A bunch of Vatos (the episode name in question) showed up out of nowhere and claimed ownership on the bag of guns.  After Rick (the main character) had them in his possession.   A show down ensued and they each took a member of the other’s group as hostage.

The final showdown happened and a granny stumbled into what was to be the inevitable brawl and broke the tension..

Turned out all the normal caretakers fled the facility and one of the bangers Granny was there so they stayed to take care of the old folks.

It didn’t advance the plot of the show at all and played up to the PC crap that the bangers were just victims of their surroundings rather than dirtbags at heart..   It was insulting, to be honest.

And there were two redneck brothers with Rick’s group..  Wearing sleeveless flannel shirts, having bad teeth and being a general menace to their group of survivors.

Everyone else is getting along fine for the most part but the rednecks are the assh*les of the group.

Those were the two most egregious  faults the show had.

If you want to see just how schlock Darabont can be, rent The Majestic  with Jim Carry.  Set during the McCarthy Trials and censorship and being blacklisted are major themes through the flick.

The end of that movie is damn insulting to any number of the senses.

Sorry for going all Ammika on you with this..

The one redneck, I think his name was Darrell, wasn’t so bad. It was the other one who was the real asshole, a typical redneck bigot. Darrel’s attitudes aren’t really that fleshed out, he is just devoted to his brother, who ended up being left chained on top of the roof as the zombies made their way to him. It was left up in the air as to whether he escaped.

I have one major problem with the show. If you get eaten by a zombie, how in the hell are you going to have enough inside of you left to come back as one? Coming back after merely suffering a zombie bite, I can see that part, but damn, there seems to be millions of zombies out there, which means bite mark survivors. Zombies seem too damn hungry to settle for a light snack.

I want to see some mad human on zombie sex. Ramp it up a notch or two. One of the zombies could have been a nympho in her previous life and still can’t stop. Bring back bicycle girl.

  15. ThePaganTemple
    July 27th, 2011 @ 2:30 pm

Just don’t make it male zombie on human female sex, please. That would be disgusting. Those falling body part could be, er, problematic.

  16. ThePaganTemple
    July 27th, 2011 @ 2:35 pm

And I know Bicycle girl didn’t have any lower female remains, but the dude just wasn’t thinking. If he had just thought to knock out all her teeth that would have been some great head.

The Majestic was nothing but maudlin Bolshe agitprop.  Two hours of my life I’ll never get back — thank God I was drinking throughout it.

I saw it as an inflight movie..  So glad I didn’t have to rent it or see it at the theater..

So much was just flat out wrong with that movie..

  21. Dave C
    July 27th, 2011 @ 4:05 pm

Again.. they wasted time with ‘Vatos’ rather than developing characters..

With Frank gone, maybe it can go from just good to great..

    July 27th, 2011 @ 4:16 pm

I guess I just didn’t take it the way you did. So some gangbangers decide to take care of the old folks. What else are they going to do in a world consumed by a zombie infestation? They sure can’t go on with life as usual. Granted, in real life they probably wouldn’t give a crap about a bunch of old folks, except for the one granny. On the other hand they might figure a bunch of old folks might if necessary make a good enough distraction for the rest of them to be able to get away, so why not take care of them? Plus if the oldsters dies on them, THEY might come back as zombies, as far as the bangers know. At the very least, being in that kind of situation might just make you a little more circumspect about things.
