I’ve been critical of Michelle, but this is great.  Unlike certain other female, bomb-throwing self-promoters, she still has an understanding about what conservatism is supposed to be about.

I agree with paulzummo.  Michelle understands conservative principle and sticks to it.  Santorum’s electability is a different issue.  Unfortunately Santorum has been maligned for years by Dan Savage and Andrew Sullivan (he is sort of like Anita Bryant, except the truth is he is not at all like her and is in fact not the person they claim him to be).  But the only way to disinfect Santorum is to have some sunlight…starting in the Sunshine State.

I linked this to this since I knew RSM would be thrilled.  http://evilbloggerlady.blogspot.com/2012/01/michelle-malkin-makes-case-for-rick.html

One little point MM seems to overlook, Ricky-boy opposed TARP but was ALREADY defeated in PA.   So boys and girls, lets nominate the guy who lost by 18% = the largest margin of defeat for any incumbent in modern history.  Why? Of course, he opposed TARP (while he also helped put in back in place Snarlin Arlen who as I recall also voted for TARP and Obamacare).

Sigh. Are we going to have to keep arguing this same old arguement right up until Chief Justice Roberts administers the oath of office to President Santorum?

As much as I like her and respect her work, this is not going to change anything one way or another.

Does anyone’s endorsement really change anyone’s mind?  I doubt it.  Palin’s been singing praises of Newt, but it hasn’t changed my mind one bit.  I think what endorsements do is to satisfiy the people who like that candidate anyway.

Although you may not agree, there are other points of view, “Right here in river-city” as they say, or rather from voters and writers in PA.

Well yes her endorsement would mean something, if it was a real endorsement. But its not, its just something she’s saying to drag it out as long as possible. I get her point and agree with her, but lets face facts, people who are inclined toward one candidate aren’t going to vote for another one just to keep it going longer.

Oh, yeah – HUGE!  All the swarms of anti-vaccine nuts will be flocking to Santorum – UNLESS they hear the buzz of black helicopters, in which case they have to take cover under tin foil.

I don’t usually see endorsements (at least from some people) as changing opinions so much as a barometer.

I take Malkin’s comments that way, and believe she is on to something.  The rank and file were not happy with the GOP at the start of the primaries; they aren’t getting any happier either.

Meanwhile the president sits on what is it now? Billions of dollars of campaign funds, and he seems more concerned about his coming campaign (notice the media focus — and look at what is happening in this country and around the world) than on anything else — our little Capt. Schettino indeed….with a wife who seems to like her shopping sprees as much or more than some other notable political wives (while half of our countrymen are on welfare of some kind — and I am having a hard time believing that they just suddenly decided this way a good life for them, so it must be caused by something else).
I’m afraid things could get very interesting this summer, and the GOP will be as much to blame as the Dems if they continue to play unserious (from the standpoint of the country and its people) politics.

As for the ignorant, uninformed voters — I have my theories on this as well — but the time may be fast running out for them to keep to the lotus eating (and this includes some who consider themselves politically active).
Maybe this is a baked in conclusion after all.

True, to some extent.  But, it gave him some good short term press.  It also insulates him from the purity police, somewhat.

I agree.  Palin was my first choice, but if she endorsed Newt, it wouldn’t influence my vote.

I’ve been having the same argument over at Rightscoop for quite awhile.  It’s also interesting that Newt’s various endorsements in 2010 are never dissected nor criticized.  That’s why I can’t take the Specter thing all that seriously … b/c the intellectual consistency is not there.

And of course we all know you’d be saying the exact same thing if Malkin endorsed Flipper.

  25. rosalie
    January 30th, 2012 @ 5:55 pm

I don’t know if she’s on to something or not, but we know that Santorum was well vetted before she endorsed him, and that a good thing.

Let’s wait and see what happens with the two frontrunners.

And let’s see what happens in the following weeks with the blowout between the Catholic Church and Obamacare — the Catholic vote is not a small one in and of itself, but this development also threatens the 1st Amendment (as well as the existence of  many institutions, such as Catholic Charities, which have served a very large community — in my area they would be sorely missed) so there may be some non-Catholics who will side with the Church;  Obamacare is at the heart of this — this isn’t a strong suit for either Romney or Gingrich.

This could play very well for Santorum or Paul, but I think Santorum might have a bit of an advantage.  They would both be foolish not to at least nibble on it.
