Damn You, #FreeKate Liars! UPDATE: Parents of 14-Year-Old Girl Speak Out

Posted on | May 23, 2013 | 52 Comments

Following up on Wednesday night’s post, Thursday morning I wrote an article about the Kaitlyn Hunt case at The American Spectator:

It is a felony in Florida to have sex with 14-year-olds. Hunt was expelled from Sebastian High School — where she and the younger girl had sex in a restroom stall — and charged with two counts of “felony lewd and lascivious battery on a child.” The charges could put Hunt in prison for up to 15 years. Prosecutors have offered Hunt a plea bargain that would spare her jail time, but her supporters have organized an online crusade to have her let off scot-free — in effect, nullifying Florida’s law, which sets the age of consent at 16. . . .
The apparent public-relations strategy was described by Matthew Philbin of Newsbusters: “If you can play the gay card, you immediately trigger knee-jerk support from the liberal media and homosexual activists anxious to topple any and all rules regarding sex.”
None of Hunt’s supporters seem to care about the possible consequences of issuing what Philbin calls a “Get Out of Jail Free” card to their teenage lesbian hero-victim. Some have deliberately falsified the narrative of Hunt’s crime, claiming that the sexual relationship began when she was 17, when in fact Hunt turned 18 last August and the incidents at issue occurred between November and January. According to the arrest affidavit, the 14-year-old ran away from home on Jan. 4 and spent the night at Hunt’s home where, in the words of a Sheriff’s Department detective, the two teens “put their fingers inside of each other’s vaginas, put their mouths on each other’s vaginas, and both of them used a vibrator on each other to insert it in each other’s vaginas.”
This is “behavior that is both fairly innocuous and extremely common,” the American Civil Liberties Union declared Tuesday in a statement condemning the prosecution of Hunt.

You can read the whole thing, but I’m trembling with rage at this particular moment because a number of journalists — including a reporter for Miami’s NBC affiliate — have deliberately repeated the lies propagated by the #FreeKate mob:

When she was 17 years old, Kaitlyn Hunt started a consensual sexual relationship with a fellow Sebastian River High School student, who was 14 at the time.
When Hunt turned 18, an adult, police arrested her on child abuse charges.

This is false. It is an outright lie. WTVJ-TV reporter Steve Litz deliberately repeated this lie, even though the truth is easily determined by reference to the arrest affidavit that states:

  1. Kaitlyn Ashley Hunt’s date of birth is Aug. 14, 1994, meaning that her 18th birthday was in August, before the beginning of her senior year at Sebastian High School.
  2. Hunt’s sexual involvement with a 14-year-old freshman did not begin until last November.

The #FreeKate liars, led by Kaitlyn Hunt’s dishonest mother, have purposefully created the “she was only 17” myth in an effort to deceive supporters into believing that some kind of trick was played, namely, that the parents of the 14-year-old waited until Kaitlyn turned 18 to press charges. This is part of an orchestrated campaign to smear the younger girl’s parents. It is wrong, and any reporter — such as WTVJ-TV reporter Steve Litz — who willfully assists the Hunt family in this dishonest smear ought to be fired for it.

I’ll be back to add some updates, as soon as I calm down. That lying son of a bitch Steve Litz should be shamed out of the industry.

UPDATE: Damned liars make me angry:

Now I am grateful to Heather Russo for informing me that there is at least one decent honest reporter left in Florida. Jana Eschbach of West Palm Beach CBS affiliate WPEC-TV interviewed Jim and Laurie Smith, parents of the 14-year-old girl:

“We are not the type of people to go in front of the media,” said Laurie Smith.
First, let’s set the facts straight. Kate was not 17, their daughter not 15.
“Our daughter was 14, and this girl was 18,” said Jim Smith.
The Smiths are portrayed by the Hunt Family as going to the law first.
“It’s not the way it was. It was quite different. We had actually told Miss Hunt that this was wrong,” Laurie told CBS12’s Jana Eschbach.
But, according to the Smiths Kate was warned, not once, but twice to stop.
“Another adult, a mother, came to me and said ‘Ms. Smith you need to know this…we told Miss Hunt to leave your daughter alone. But they are in a relationship, and she’s 18.’ 18? My daughter is only 14,” Laure said.
Their 14-year-old began to act out, and one weekend morning they opened her door and she was gone.
“It’s the worst thing that I’ve ever experienced,” Jim said. “Somebody took her is what we thought. Because her running away is the furthest thing from my mind. You hear kids getting abducted out of your home. That was heart-wrenching.”
Reported missing, and found safe, the Smiths found out she was with Kate, who picked her up even though she had been told to stay away.
“Didn’t stop, then we didn’t have an alternative but to turn to the law, use it as a last resort,” said Jim.
“This whole story about you blaming Kate for making you daughter gay…where did that come from?” asked CBS12’s Jana Eschbach.
“I don’t know. It didn’t come from us. That’s not how we feel,” Jim said.
Bloggers shred Laurie online as a gay-basher, abusive to her daughter.
“They made me seem as if I’m a monster,” Laurie said.
But says they will stand strong.
“I will be her advocate for what she needs,” Laurie said.
Under an intense amount of national media attention their daughter still goes to high school every day. Hearing now that her parents hate gay people, and their worse fear is that their own daughter will begin to believe these lies.
“That’s why I’m talking to you…The stories that people are saying…I love my daughter and I am willing to do whatever to protect her,” Laurie said.

You might want to click the image and watch the video:

Now, here’s the situation: The prosecutor offered Kaitlyn Hunt a plea deal, an offer that will expire today — Friday, May 24 — however, the Hunt family wanted to plead this felony charge down to a misdemeanor, a slap on the wrist for their Precious Darling Kaitlyn. When the prosecutor refused to play along, because of the aggravating circumstances that should be obvious enough, the Hunt family decided to (a) enlist the assistance of the gay-rights movement, and (b) start telling lies to make Kaitlyn look like a victim.

This attempt to make their daughter the Rosa Parks of Jailbait has backfired disastrously. Not only did the political pressure fail to sway the prosecutor but now, if Kaitlyn decides to go to trial, she will have to answer for the falsehoods and smears perpetrated against the Smith family by the Hunt family and her supporters. And if Kaitlyn decides to accept the plea bargain? Well, the decision of whether or not she’s compelled to register as a sex offender will be up to the judge at sentencing, and my guess is that judge is going to pissed at how the perpetrator has re-victimized the 14-year-old in this ridiculous, false and futile “civil rights” charade.

MSM isn’t about news anymore, just about promoting the leftist agenda – or as they like to call it, “making a difference.”

Now, it’s obvious little Stevie isn’t ready for prime time, but advancing the narrative is how insignificant little schnooks like him make to the big time when they lack the “talents” of a Mo Dowd or Soledad Ho’brien (IYKWIMAITTYD).

I personally would like a little more investigative reporting on the part of the liberal media on this one. A child runs away and is picked up by an adult (Kaitlyn Hunt) and taken where? A child is taken to Kaitlyn Hunter’s home where she loses her virginity to an adult. I wonder what happened January 4th at Kaitlyn Hunt’s home when everyone went to bed and what the sleeping arrangements were that night. Where did Kaitlyn Hunter’s Mom tell the victim to sleep that night? Now she stands before the media attacking the victims parents and wonders why the parents couldn’t talk this out. Did she want to talk to the victim’s parents in January when she may have been involved in the sleeping arrangements of their minor child with an adult?

All that needs to happen is to list the charges and punishment meted out to 18 year old boys who committed the same acts on those underage.

    Gander : Goose

When ever I encounter these rabidly militant sexual radicals, I always ask them: “where do you draw the line?”.

Where is line for when the State must intervene to protect the innocent and defend the victims? Who draws those lines but the State as the agent of the People?

The lack of intelligent response is usually deafening.

As I wrote in the comments of the Spectator article — because some of the commenters were so off-target in their arguments — ANY statutory age of consent is, in some sense, arbitrary. That is to say, on the day before someone reaches the legal age, they’re off-limits, forbidden fruit, “jailbait.” But then, at 12:01 a.m. on their birthday, hey, they’re fair game!

The law is the law, however, and a primary purpose of these laws is to empower parents to exercise supervisory authority to safeguard their underage children against exploitation.

The various “arguments” (one hesitate to call crude sophistry by that name) offered by the #FreeKate apologists are mostly variations on a few themes:

    1. “Consent” — The idea that consent by a 14-year-old is inherently legitimate, despite the fact that Florida law specifically says that consent is irrelevant to the crime of “felony lewd and lascivious battery” when the victim is under 16.

    2. “They were both in high school” — Exactly what this is supposed to prove, I don’t know. My own son was 13 when his freshman year of high school began; do the #FreeKate people really mean to argue that this should make my son fair game for a senior who might be 18 or 19? Are they actually so foolish or morally indifferent?

    3. Abusive prosecution — This is the last-ditch defense that such people (not just in this case, but in any similar case) invariably end up arguing. Somehow, the fact that other people have done the same thing or something similar and not been prosecuted for it is offered as a claim that this particular perpetrator should be let off scot-free.

There is an old adage: “Don’t do the crime, if you can’t do the time.” Some people get away with it. Some people get caught but manage to evade strict prosecution. And some people — through bad luck or stupidity but usually a combination of both — get caught and get the book thrown at them. The prisons of America are full of criminals who are convinced that somehow it’s unfair that they’re doing time when they know doggone well that there are people walking around free on the streets who have done the same crime, or worse.

    Three words: BULL. FUCKING. SHIT.

The outlaw cannot claim victimhood based on such “unfairness.” Law enforcement is not 100% effective and therefore, some bad guys evade punishment. But it is almost always the case that, by the time a criminal gets caught and prosecuted for the crime that puts him behind bars, he has gotten away with many other crimes. How many illegal drug deals or petty thefts did the perp commit, and get away with, before he finally got busted for assault? So how can he honestly say that his prosecution was “unfair”?

Same deal with Kaitlyn Hunt: Her supporters and media enablers are trying to portray her as a squeaky-clean honor student who never did anything wrong but is being unfairly prosecuted because of bigotry.

    To repeat: BULL. FUCKING. SHIT.

People who have monitored Kaitlyn’s social-media accounts have shown me a few tidbits that would tend to portray Kaitlyn as a familiar kind of spoiled arrogant little hell-raiser. Trust me, I know the type well. A fundamental disrespect for authority, the idea that they won’t get caught or that they can somehow sweet-talk their way out of any trouble they get into — Little Miss Innocent Green-Eyed Blonde Girl With the Perfectly White Smile had never encountered a situation where she couldn’t evade accountability.

Oh, such a tragedy. Do you now understand why, when the Smiths tried to tell Kaitlyn to stay away from their 14-year-old daughter, Kaitlyn didn’t take their warnings seriously?

What Cute Blonde Kaitlyn wanted, Cute Blonde Kaitlyn always got, and who were these people to tell her “no”?

Guarantee you, never once did it cross Kaitlyn Hunt’s mind on Jan. 4 — when she was picking up the 14-year-old runaway Smith girl for their unauthorized sleepover dildo session — that if she got caught for the crime she was committing, that it might actually lead to prosecution.

All of the #FreeKate lies and all the absurdly irrelevant talk about “civil rights” and “homophobia” are merely an attempt to prevent Cute Blonde Kaitlyn from having to deal with the consequences of her own illegal actions. And people expect me to feel sorry for her?

    Three words: BULL. FUCKING. SHIT.

Remember Eve Ensler’s infamous “Vagina Monologues”? This scenario was in the original version – many productions change the victim’s age to 16. Life imitates art.

    http://www.cblpi.org/programs/vday/factsfallacies.cfm

The child rape that occurs in “The Little Coochie Snorcher That Could” is presented as a sympathetic and spiritually redeeming experience for the young girl who is violated. She describes the rape as “surprising, unexpected, politically incorrect salvation” that “transformed my sorry-ass coochi snorcher and raised it up into a kind of heaven.” The monologue describes how a 24-year-old woman plies a 16-year-old girl (she is 13 in the original version) with vodka and then sexually violates her. And in the original version, this monologue ended with the line: “If it was rape, it was a good rape.”

The only thing you and I CAN agree about in this case is that there was lots of irresponsible reporting by the media. Ur an angry dude, huh? Dude, chill out, you’re gonna give yourself heart problems. Two highschool kids doin’ it does not warrant prosecution. And yes, from the arrest affidavit, it’s clear that the sex happened when they were 18/14, but the relationship began when they were 17/14. It boggles my mind that you are championing the felony prosecution of this young girl. And the snyde “little angel” remarks..??? I guess having sex makes a person “bad”. The “Smith girl” admitted to doing all of the same things. Guess I’m beat too, cuz I’ve been having lots of sex, starting… IN HIGHSCHOOL, continuing through COLLEGE, and now all the damn time in my adult life. Comparing what happened between these two children to “child abuse” or “child molestation” is just wrong. Everybody knows that what happened between these high school kids is NOT what child abuse/molestation laws were meant to punish. The younger girls parents are assholes, using the law to punish this child. But I guess you, and they..live in a very black and white world. “She broke the law, throw her in jail, make her register as a child molester, ruin her life forever.” If the parents would have gone to speak to Kaitlyn’s parents, chances are this would have been nipped in the bud. I can’t imagine the embarrassment, shame, and distrust they have brought on their own daughter…the price of their ridiculous crusade.

To the contrary. ALL high school sex should be shocking, disgraceful, and deplorable, and illegal. And any adults who enable such behavior, ESPECIALLY in the name of “education,” ought to be given absurdly lengthy prison sentences.

High school is where you learn about trigonometry, and start making plans for your future career. The minute you make it about sexual politics, none of that learning sticks and the only thing that lingers in the mind is who was having sex with whom, long after it no longer matters in the course of your life.

That is a despicable disservice to teens, designed solely to make them sex addicts for life so that Big Sex can profiteer off of them ad infinitum.

For all the Left’s talk of “evil corporations” that make “dishonest” profits, the most genuinely evil and dishonest cartels are the ones the Left itself is advocating!

MY MESSAGE ON THIS POST IS IN HONOR OF “C.S.- THE OTHER GIRL.” THE DAUGHTER OF LAURIE AND JIM SMITH. DO NOT LET YOUR PARENTS CONTROL YOU. THEY ARE TRYING TO. YOUR LIFE IS YOUR LIFE AND NOT YOUR PARENTS LIFE. THEY DO NOT OWN YOU. I KNOW YOU LOVE THEM AND BECAUSE YOU REALLY DO- THIS IS WHY YOU MUST STAND UP TO THEM- BECAUSE THEY ARE WRONG IN THE WAY THEY HAVE CHOSEN TO HANDLE THIS SITUATION. WRONG IN THE WAYS THEY HAVE BEHAVED OVER THIS RELATIONSHIP- MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HURT FROM YOUR PARENTS MISHANDLING, ARE BEING HURT STILL AND WILL BE HURT MORE IN THE FUTURE DUE TO YOUR PARENTS ACTING IMMATURELY AND WITHOUT INSIGHT, REFUSING TO LOOK IN THEIR OWN LIVES, THEIR OWN HEARTS AND THEIR OWN FAMILY DYNAMICS. NOW THEY ARE DOING WHAT IS CALLED” BLAME SHIFTING”-( LOOK THAT UP PLEASE) AND ARE USING KATE AND HER FAMILY TO TRY TO DISGUISE THEIR OWN SHORTCOMINGS AS PEOPLE AND PARENTS THAT HAVE NOT LOVED YOU WHOLEHEARTEDLY AS THEY CAN. WHEN YOU RAN AWAY YOU WERE TRYING TO TELL THEM THEY WERE ALREADY WRONG- ACTING WRONG-NOT SOLVING LIFE IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY. THEY ARE TRYING TO USE YOU C.S. AS A SCAPEGOAT. LOOK UP THE WORD AND STUDY IT AND THE DYSFUNCTION OF YOUR PARENTS- YOUR FAMILY. THEY SAY “YOU STARTED ACTING OUT.” I AM WILLING TO BET YOUR ANGER AT THEM STARTED WAY BEFORE YOU EVER MET KATE.People who suffer from personality disorders are particularly susceptible to showing dysfunctional differential treatment because they sometimes allow their feelings to override facts. For some people with personality disorders, their feelings become so intense that what they feel about a person or situation can receive more of their attention or take a higher priority than what they know about that person or situation. This can lead some to distort their own understanding of the facts of a given situation in order to rationalize or justify the way that they feel. This tendency to allow feelings to create facts is sometimes known in psychological circles as dissociation. SO NOW I AM GOING TO TELL YOU MY OWN PERSONAL STORY. MY PARENTS TRIED HARD TO CONTROL ME AND MAKE ME BELIEVE THEIR LIES AND DISTORTION OF MY LIFE AND THE REALITY OF MY LIFE. THEY ALSO CHOSE TO HURT OTHER PEOPLE – PEOPLE THAT I LOVED AND PEOPLE THAT I CONTINUED TO LOVE AND SEE AND MAINTAIN A RELATIONSHIP WITH FOR MANY MANY YEARS.I WATCHED THEM HURT PEOPLE FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND I DID NOT LIKE IT OR ACCEPT THAT IT HAD TO BE THE WAY THEY TOLD ME OR THE WAY THEY CHOSE IT TO BE- IT WAS MY LIFE NOT THEIRS TO LIVE. SO IN HIGH SCHOOL- I RAN AWAY. WHY- NOT BECAUSE I WAS” ACTING OUT” BUT I WAS STANDING UP TO THEM- YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE AN ADULT TO STAND UP TO AN ADULT WHEN THEY ARE VERY WRONG. I HAD A PLAN AHEAD OF WHEN I RAN AWAY-WHERE I WOULD OR COULD GO SO THAT NO ONE ELSE WOULD GET BLAMED. I TOOK MONEY I HAD AND WITH ANOTHER HIGHSCHOOL GIRL’S MONEY -I GOT A ROOM TO RENT. I WENT THERE AND STAYED THERE- TOLD NO ONE ELSE WHERE I WAS- BUT THE BEST WAS- MY PARENTS DID NOT KNOW WHERE I WAS FOR MANY DAYS. I HAD FOOD AND ALL THE THINGS I NEEDED BECAUSE I MADE A PLAN.. BY CHOOSING TO DO THIS- I MADE THEM DO SOME SERIOUS THINKING. I GAVE THEM A DOSE OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE. I LET THEM FEEL WHAT IT IS LIKE WHEN YOU TAKE SOMEONE OUT OF ONES’S LIFE. WHEN I FELT IT WAS LONG ENOUGH THAT THEY RECONSIDERED THEIR MEAN ACTIONS- AND THE WAY THEY WERE HURTING SO MANY OTHERS- I THEN PLACED A CALL TO ANOTHER FAMILY MEMBER AND AND MADE MY DEMANDS. I REFUSED TO GO HOME UNTIL MY DEMANDS WERE MET AND MADE IT CLEAR THAT I WOULD RUN AWAY AGAIN IF THEY WENT BACK ON MY DEMANDS. IT WAS MY LIFE- NOT THEIRS. I WOULD HAVE RATHER GONE TO A FOSTER HOME OR ANOTHER FAMILY MEMBER’S HOME TO LIVE- THAN TO STAY AND LIVE THE LIFE THEY THOUGHT WAS BEST FOR ME WHEN I KNEW WHAT WAS BEST FOR ME. WHAT WAS BEST FOR ME WAS NOT SITTING IDLY BY WHILE THEY HURT PEOPLE I LOVED AND CARED FOR- MANY PEOPLE WERE HURT BY THEIR WRONG CHOICES AS THEY TRIED TO “PROTECT ME” I AM HAPPY TO SAY MY PARENTS WERE SORROWFUL FOR THE HURT THEY HAD DONE TO ME AND TO OTHERS, AND I WAS ABLE TO RETURN HOME. NEVER COULD THEY EVER DECIDE MY LIFE. I HAVE NEVER FOR ONE MINUTE REGRETTED THE CHOICE I HAD TO MAKE AS A HIGH SCHOOL TEEN- 15, BECAUSE I KNEW THAT I HAD THE POWER TO CHANGE THE ENTIRE SITUATION AND I TOOK THAT POWER BECAUSE IT BELONGED TO ME!

I really hope this post was sarcastic.

“As I wrote in the comments of the Spectator article — because some of
the commenters were so off-target in their arguments — ANY statutory
age of consent is, in some sense, arbitrary. That is to say, on the day
before someone reaches the legal age, they’re off-limits, forbidden
fruit, “jailbait.” But then, at 12:01 a.m. on their birthday, hey,
    they’re fair game!”

If you know this, then you must know that statutory rape laws were first enacted in merry old England (Middle Ages) in order to protect very young girls from pregnancy and violence by older men (and that young boys started getting protected during the Napoleonic Era). Statrape laws are about protecting the very innocent from those who have physical power over them/potential for abuse and lifelong consequences.

Statrape laws have gotten out of hand these days though, and that is why the Romeo and Juliet provisions exist. When the younger girl/Kate’s girlfriend turns 16, it’ll once again be legal (since it was legal for Kate to be with her when she was 17…they met and likely grew close back in the summer when they had their varsity practice) for Kate to be with her, because Florida’s ridiculous R&J provision states that any 16-year-old can sleep with anyone who is under the age of 24, therefore defining an eight year difference superior to that of a 3+/- few months-year difference (because as you stated, Kate’s gf is incapable of consenting to a relationship with an 18-year-old at 14 or 15, but then magically assumes the capability to screw around with someone eight years older once she is 16).

The consequences for said younger girl–within the context of the original intent of the statrape laws–are nonexistent in this case as there is zero risk of pregnancy, and Kate herself has no physical superiority over the younger girl (and is much smaller than her, too). Had Kate been a male, the threat of pregnancy/life-ruining via child would have been there, and sorry equality champions, but there IS a gender disparity there and for good reason.

Oh, but I’m sure you neocons would’ve preferred the younger girl in this case to’ve slept with a boy and gotten knocked up so that Jim and Laurie would have a future in babysitting. Anything’s better than “being a disgusting homosexual” (except for when you hypocrites surf the web for girl-on-girl porn), right?

They didn’t even meet until after Kate turned 18. Kate turned 18 in august, the girls started dating in November and kate was arrested in Feb. AND the smiths DID talk to Kate. Twice. They told her the relationship was wrong and told her to stay away. Kate refused.

Not really. Just do what Croatia did: ban any sex ed curriculum that gets its information from the Kinsey Institute, whether directly or indirectly. Ban Planned Parenthood and most LGBTP activist groups from schools. Don’t use schools for sexual movement recruiting. Don’t encourage kids to rebel against parental authority.

If those simple steps to curb sexual miscreant youth from being created are asking too much, then yes, more homeschooling very much is the answer.

Yes. Blame the victim…the child could have initiated illegal sexual contact with an adult. Completely absolve the adult predator of all blame. You’re sick.
