#FreeKate? Local Teen Says Kaitlyn Hunt Was ‘Bully … Calling Me an Ugly Dyke’

One of the things about the “Streisand Effect” which the Hunt family has unintentionally triggered (read the story of their threat to shut down this blog) is that more people have begun sending me information, such as this social-media conversation involving one of Kaitlyn Hunt’s schoolmates at Sebastian River High:

“I support gay rights, but Kate Hunt is a terrible person
so yeah f**k her . . . actually no, I’ve known Kate since
6th grade, she used to bully me and pick on me everyday,
calling me an ugly dyke. Kind of ironic, huh?”

WHOA! Ironic, indeed: Bullying and homophobic slurs from someone who, just three months ago, was being embraced by many gay-rights activists and progressive media figures including Chris Hayes of MSNBC? (Speaking of which: Cat got your tongue, Chris? Could we get you to admit that you were totally misled by these grifters?)

The “Free Kate” narrative was a lie from the start. Any reporter with a functioning bullshit detector should have recognized this as a classic “Story Too Good to Be True,” and yet thousands of people — including many journalists — fell for it hook, line and sinker.

By God, it’s time these fools start confessing their folly. Please send a Twitter message to Chris Hayes and politely urge him to return to the “Free Kate” story and tell MSNBC viewers they were misled.

There aren’t very many journalists any longer. J-School teaches what is the party line of the left not real journalism.

People like @/little_hart are asking “do any of you care one whit about the “victim?”

First, notice the square quotes around “victim.” To be blunt, a 14 year old was finger fucked in a school rest room by a legal adult. Yes, that is a victim, despite romantic notions to the contrary. Her PARENTS said “no” FOR her because she is a minor. What about “no” do you not understand?

Second, the publicity for this lies squarely on the shoulders of Kaitlyn Hunt and her family. They chose not to take the plea deal. They chose to create a media firestorm. They chose to name the family NINE TIMES. They chose to go on the TV morning shows and give interviews. Therefore, the sole reason to ask this question is to suppress criticism on this issue.

As Stacy has said before, the FreeKate supporters are not offended by her actions, but they have the vapors over people accurately describing those actions.

Finally, those of you, especially those of you in your 30s, 40s, and above, who are living romantic fantasies vicariously through Hunt and her victim in a vain attempt to re-write your own histories of abuse and exploitation, SEEK HELP IMMEDIATELY.

When Hunt’s attorney issued a statement that defamed the victim’s parents she opened a door that should have been left closed. It had nothing to do with the case.

I think the problem *is* J-school.

In the “good ol’ days”, reporters were good at finding people, telling stories, and if they had a degree, it was probably English. Most didn’t.

Then we got all serious about “studying” journalism. So we teach college kids “how to journalism” (Error on purpose).

These kids go out to “Make A Difference”, not tell people what’s going on, and so telling people what’s going on is _boring_. Getting people to change their mind? (Getting things changed even if people don’t? Eh, same difference.)

That’s exciting.

You don’t have to be a reporter to have smelled the BS from the get-go of this. First, KH was 17 and the evil!parents of the other girl waited until KH was 18 to press charges. I guess the trailer trash didn’t know or comprehend that, you know, her arrest affidavit was PUBLIC record. It just goes to show that the vast majority of people will believe anything fed to them by the mainstream media rather than taking some kind of initiative and doing some independent research on their own.

I think shoes are going to start dropping more quickly. I’ve always believed this was some sort of twisted hazing/initiation. There’s more going on that high school than meets the eye and it will come out, especially in this day and age where adolescents tend to have unlimited access to media and the restraint of, oh say, adolescents.

I wonder what would have happened if Mr and Mrs Hunt had started telling the truth right from the start. Admitting that their daughter was 18, and her too-young girlfriend was 14, does sound worse than what they used (17 and 15) but that would (probably) have been the end of the revelations. If the first thing that you say is the truth, (most) people stop looking for lies in your future stuff.

Most of the people who were sympathetic to the young love story when the numbers were 17 and 15 would have been sympathetic at 18 and 14, had they been told the truth from the start. But think how many people who were sympathetic of the 17 and 15 story completely turned against the Hunts just because they lied from the start.

That counterfactual would require a level of self-awareness and an inclination toward introspection on the part of the entire Hunt family, evidence for which is obviously non-existent. Even assuming such an admission on the parents’ part, you still have the Hunt media circus to fold into the mix and even then, the subsequent revelations have not been kind to them. The better course would’ve been to shut-up, demonstrate contrition no matter how false and hope the thing died a quiet death. Of course, given the nature of the Hunts, such a result was never in the cards.

Maureen Dowd doctored another quote and quite a few people are defending her even after the audio was released, because what Dowd put in quotation marks was what the speaker “meant.” Evidently jschool now teaches that you get to put a paraphrase in quotation marks with no punctuation showing where you edited it, and claim that’s what the person said. Just another step toward the Ministry of Truth.
