‘The Worst in Demagoguery’

Certainly, Joan Walsh is an expert in demagoguery:

Consider, if you will, the recent behavior of Salon’s Joan Walsh, who yesterday suggested in earnest that the conservative-led condemnation of the “climate” that supposedly provoked the shootings in New York City represented the unconscionable “politicization” of murder. “To blame the peaceful movement against police brutality that’s emerged nationwide,” Walsh wrote, is “the worst in demagoguery.” “Right wingers,” she added, “are using a terrible tragedy to make sure that no one can find middle ground.”

Charles C.W. Cooke goes on to cite in great detail Joan Walsh’s partisan demagoguery over Jared Loughner’s Tucson mass murder.

Never let it be said that liberals have no standards. In fact, they have two — one for them, and one for everybody else.

The topic was the mid-term elections and the prospect of Republicans taking over the Senate and, as you can see, the chyron used for this discussion was “Revenge of the Haters,” i.e., liberal journalists operate on the assumption that all opponents of the Democrat Party’s policies are motivated by “hate.”)

I’ve not commented too much about it one way or the other because it’s always:

The right is to blame.
Either for causing the killings or for saying someone on the left did.

When you’re guilty no matter what, what’s the point?

By Joan Walsh’s irrefutable “Sarah Palin Cross-Hairs Map” logic, John Walsh is attacking herself. An oddball methodology to be sure.

And Rachel Maddow is prancing the halls of the Bely Dom – Oops! I mean MSNBC studios – feigning outrage that conservatives are connecting the murder of two NYPD cops by a black man who actually said he murdered them to show solidarity with the I Can’t Breathe / Hands Up Don’t Shoot protesters.

Maddow conveniently doesn’t remember accusing conservative rhetoric of causing the 2009 murder of U.S. Census Worker, Bill Sparkman, even though there was zero evidence of it. Sparkman, it was later determined, committed suicide.

Actually they were surveyors marks. When ”crosshairs” are depicted the lines at stop the circles edge as in a scope.

When it comes to ‘The Worst in Demagoguery’ I usually think Sally Kohn. She doesn’t get the exposure Joan Walsh gets but when it’s time up the demagoguery a few notches she’s there for the left.

They count on people having a short attention span and generally being uninformed. Getting people to hate somebody else is pretty easy: it doesn’t take much more than shrillness and perserverence, both of which lefties have in spades.

This is a clear example of the projection strategy: condemning violent rhetoric in general (while ignoring whether it had any bearing on the actual incidents at hand), then engaging in it themselves and turning the dial up to 11. Now that they’re being called on it, they can ape previous conservative protestations, thereby drawing a subconscious false equivalence in the minds of the public.
