‘Emerging Awareness’ Update

Eric Gates (left) fathered two children with his daughter Chalena Moody.

In the 2003 Lawrence v. Texas decision that abolished laws against sodomy, Justice Anthony Kennedy declared, “our laws and traditions in the past half century … show an emerging awareness that liberty gives substantial protection to adult persons in deciding how to conduct their private lives in matters pertaining to sex.” In dissenting from that opinion, Justice Antonin Scalia warned that this “emerging awareness” doctrine would open the door for the legalization of incest. Welcome to America in the Emerging Awareness era:

A 25-year-old woman and her 49-year-old biological father have been arrested in Oregon for carrying on an incestuous relationship that resulted in the birth of two children. . . .
Chalena Moody spent most of her life with her father in and out of prison, and the two did not meet until she was already an adult. . . . Shortly after reconnecting, Moody and her father Eric Lee Gates, 49, moved in together and subsequently had two children. As reported by Gawker, the authorities became aware of the couple’s incestuous affair after an elderly neighbor suspected the couple of committing elder abuse. When the claim turned out to be false, police discovered something equally shocking: incest.
Under Oregon law, incest is a Class C felony and punishable by up to five years in prison and a $125,000 fine, The Daily Mail reported. . . . The crime is not commonly prosecuted, with a local detective telling The Register Guard that he can “recall only one or two incest cases in the last 20 or 30 years in Springfield in which charges were pursued.”
Although Moody received a 10-day jail sentence, she received credit for time served and is currently on an 18 months’ probation. Part of her probation is that she is not allowed to see her father, who currently is serving 60 days in jail for his offence of both pleading guilty to incest and violating his probation, The Associated Press reported.

They should address this on Portlandia.

And the Open-Mindedness Army laughed and laughed at such a silly claim.

No one (or should I say not a lot of people) are advocating for making incest legal…yet. But we have seen society norms degrade to the point, no one is prosecuting it much. Give it time and there will be equal protection challenges of why can we tell consenting adults what they want to do…

The worst part is that she has got to be on welfare. So she has an incentive to have more flipper babies. The government will reward her for having more incest.

Dostoevsky said, “God is dead, everything is permitted”. We’re seeing this playing out in our post Christian society One of the Biblical sins of these days in which we live is men would be “without natural affection”. This is the Greek word “astorge” which is the opposite of “Storge” which is the natural love and affection that you find in families.
In sane, God fearing families; fathers love and protect their daughters. In amoral, godless and twisted degenerate families, fathers copulate with their daughters. It seems there’s no bottom to the downward spiral that we’re in.

Dostoevsky has a character say that…who ultimately paid the price of such nihilism (although was on the path of redemption in the end).

I think incest is second on the list, after normalizing pedophilia.

In our defense, they were actually charged and sentenced. If anything, this story is evidence that it has not been normalized here.

Back when he was a Vermont state legislator, Howard Dean voted to allow a woman to marry her uncle.

(He was not alone; the motion passed the legislature. And the couple were ~65 and ~85, so…)

Then there is hedge-fund billionaire Bruce McMahan. He unknowingly begat a daughter in a youthful fling, who was put up for adoption. 20 years later, the girl found her birth mother, who pointed her to McMahan. He paid her way through college and grad school.

Then he initiated an affair with her, and even went through a pseudo-wedding with her in Westminster Abbey. (Really.)
