@JanetheActuary is an outside-the-box thinker you should follow on Twitter, and her musing today on Patheos deserves notice:

The increasing unmarriagableness of men is often identified as the reason why the rates of unwed motherhood have climbed so much . . . Women report thinking of the father of their child as “just a child himself” — whether because young women tend to be more mature than their same-aged counterparts or whether motherhood itself makes those women more mature. . . .

She then notes an apparent tendency toward bisexual/lesbian “experimentation” among young women and considers the possibility of women forming what might be called pseudo-lesbian families:

If women, to a significant degree, give up on men and form all-female households, no specific woman has harmed any specific man. But the harm to men, and society, in general, would be significant.

She asks if this is “too far-fetched,” but in fact this is already happening in various ways. Most women in their 20s nowadays are unmarried, and most of those women share apartments with other young women. Although the vast majority of these women do not think of themselves as bisexual (and certainly not lesbian), the shortage of marriageable males results in these young women experiencing conflicts and instability in their relationships with men, so that their female friends and roommates are a more enduring emotional influence in their lives than are their on-again/off-again boyfriends. We should not be the least bit surprised if some women in this predicament “give up on men,” and feminist theory would certainly encourage women to do this:

“In terms of the oppression of women, heterosexuality is the ideology of male supremacy. In order for men to have a justification for exploiting women and an ability to enforce that exploitation, heterosexuality has to become, not merely an act in relation to impregnation, but the dominant ideology.”

That was first published 40 years ago in a book co-edited by Charlotte Bunch, who subsequently became a distinguished academic at Rutgers University and in 1999 was honored with the Eleanor Roosevelt Award for Human Rights by President Bill Clinton. (Click here to see C-SPAN video of Hillary Clinton’s speech at the December 1999 ceremony.)

You must never forget: Feminism Is Queer!

Feminism is Queer is an introduction to the intimately related disciplines of gender and queer theory. While guiding the reader through complex theory, the author develops the original position of “queer feminism,” which presents queer theory as continuous with feminist theory. While there have been significant conceptual tensions between second wave feminism and traditional lesbian and gay studies, queer theory offers a paradigm for understanding gender, sex, and sexuality that avoids the conflict in order to develop solidarity among those interested in feminist theory and those interested in lesbian and gay rights.

You see this is not “fringe” feminism or “extreme” feminism. This is simply what feminism means for university students in the 21st century. Feminism is Queer is a 2010 textbook whose author, Mimi Marinucci, is a professor of Women’s and Gender Studies at Eastern Washington University. Accepting feminist gender theory, as I’ve explained, requires the de-normalization of everything:

To be a feminist means that you cease to believe that there is anything natural about the human condition and, furthermore, you must reject everything “normal” as inherently oppressive. . . . By constantly sharing everything, all their feelings and stories and selfies, feminists forge the bonds of Radical Sisterhood, as they struggle to overthrow the power of Male Supremacy.

My book, Sex Trouble: Radical Feminism and the War Against Human Nature, explains this in depth. Based on the writings of dozens of feminist authors — Kate Millett, Susan Brownmiller, Dee Graham, Judith Butler, Sheila Jeffreys, et al. — who are quoted at length, Sex Trouble exposes the anti-male/anti-heterosexual ideology of what can only be described as a Totalitarian Movement to Destroy Civilization as We Know It.

A quick note: The issue about Amazon reportedly prohibiting sale of the Confederate flag — see my article “A Dangerous Precedent” — has caused ironic harm to the conservative movement, and to me in particular. Online sales through Amazon Associates are an important source of revenue to my blog as for many other conservative bloggers who derive commissions from these sales. Amazon has been very good to me over the years, and so you can see why I am disturbed when I see people demanding a boycott of Amazon. Whose fault is it that Amazon was directly attacked by Democrats and the news media (but I repeat myself) with demands that they cease sales of Confederate merchandise? If executives at Amazon unwisely folded under this pressure, who is to blame? We can discuss these things reasonably, but how does it make sense to punish me by attempting to punish Amazon? Please do not deprive my family of income in the misguided belief that you will hurt Amazon more than you hurt me. God knows my family has already suffered a lot on account of my stubborn willingness to speak unpopular truths and defend unfashionable traditions, and I ask that readers not add to this suffering. — RSM

Sorry RSM, but we do not sacrifice principles for convenience. Amazon was the one who made the decision, they were the ones who acquiesced. If they aren’t to blame, who is?
Did Democrats hold a gun to their heads?

On the bright side, I don’t buy much online so it’s hard to boycott them.

OK, then. Fuck me out of income — the means by which I am able to do this work — in order to spite Amazon for a decision that is beyond my control. Do you see how the harm you do them is extremely minor, while the harm you do me is most grave? How does this “principle” help anything?

Not to mention the screwed-up children.

But it’d come to a grinding halt as soon as men collectively are unwilling or unable to pay for it all via Daddy Government. Who’ll keep funding the “free” schools and subsidised healthcare and pointless HR/marketing/public sector non-jobs for the girls? Lesbians? Heh.

This is the problem with post-60’s-freakout Western society in general. It’s not sustainable by any measure: demographically, financially or politically. We’re eating the seedcorn.

The long term future is Patriarchy: the kindly Christian type or the beheady Muslim type.

Modern feminists are singularly stupid people. They claim to be oppressed in the only societies on Earth (or history) which tolerates them. Amidst all the celebrations of M. Luther King and Gandhi, few seem to have realized they’d have disappeared in Nazi Germany or ’60s Brazil or Argentina. That aside, taken to its logical extension, Queer Theory is an extinction event. Contrary to its fundamental thinking, Queer Theory only survives with the tolerance and hard work of ethnic European men. You can only push reality so far and these women have pushed it to the limit. They literally produce nothing but gripe but get Nobel scientists kicked out of work.

If men have become increasingly unmarriageable, one has to ask why this is so. Allow me to be blunt here: men in previous generations had to be mature enough to be serious candidates for marriage, or they weren’t going to get any pussy.

In times when young women didn’t give it up just willy-nilly, but were looking for a suitable husband, men had to be suitable husband material: they had to be responsible, and either stably employed or college students with serious prospects, because it was culturally unacceptable for women to have had a large number of sexual partners before marriage, and men did not want to marry women with too sordid a past.

Now, when it’s apparently nothing at all if your prospective wife has copulate with 132 other men, there’s no cultural downside for women screwing 132 different men, and they have become willing to do so. And that makes it far easier for men to choose not to become serious and responsible, and still get laid.

A friend of mine has said that the sexual revolution is over, and men won. I think that he’s right.

If one boycotts retailers which have decided to no longer sell the Confederate battle flag, one is going to be boycotting a lot of retailers.

Sooner or later — usually sooner — these boycotts peter out. As for me, amazon is my bookseller of choice, because I get all of my new books on my Kindle. Of course, I go through my own site to buy, so that I can make a few pennies myself!

If men have become increasingly unmarriageable, one has to ask why this is so. Allow me to be blunt here: men in previous generations had to be mature enough to be serious candidates for marriage, or they weren’t going to get any pussy.

That is true, but not a sufficient explanation. From observation, without personal experience, I believe that marriage and fatherhood are powerful maturing forces for men. Therefore, women choosing to forgo marriage in their twenties and early thirties leads very directly to men developing habits that make them unmarriageable.

The former 92% marriage rate was not because men were born better.

  18. DeadMessenger
    June 28th, 2015 @ 9:20 pm

I agree about marriage and fatherhood being maturing forces.

Up to a point. But I would add two thoughts here.

First, I think young men need a maturing influence while they grow. Back in the days when military service was considered not only honorable, but a duty – you know, before the Occupant got rid of military ethics like that, in favor of bloodthirsty, Call of Duty-addicted assclowns – a young man was either expected to join up himself, or his father had, or both. In that way, a guy got indoctrinated with things like self-discipline, rational thought, and typically, Judeo-Christian moral values.

Now what you see are guys indoctrined with the “values” of thuggery provided to them by their dope-addled, thieving, criminal-wannabe buddies, because Dad was KIA, MIA or AWOL.

As an example of this, I counseled a young woman – absolutely gorgeous – two little ones, a boy and a girl, both cute as could be. She was married to a guy who could only be descibed as a complete sh1tbag. The wife had to beg money from her parents to feed herself and the kids, and to pay the rent because Sh1tbag used all the money he earned souping up his Camaro, buying bling for himself and his cadre of tramp hangers-on, along with booze and dope for his b1tches.

I saw pictures of this assbag that he posted on his social media, of him with his car and a used-up skank on each arm. He had his ubiquitous oversized gold chain Merc hood ornament hung on it, the pants belted under his ass cheeks, and two pairs of undershorts: his actual underwear – the tighty whities – and the “show” underwear, which were the boxers. And of course, his UNIF “Hell Is So Hot Right Now” shirt, and Li’l Wayne grill and tats.

Frankly, I wanted to go there and pistol whip that stupid punk, take a bat to his spinners, burn the car down to the chassis, and narc out the tramps to Vice.

The wife, understandably, just wanted a happy Christian marriage, where her husband was, you know, the provider. But he’d come home every two or three weeks long enough to brag about what he was doing, and make sure she’d seen his Facebook pictures. They’d fight about it, then he’d threaten to divorce her and take the son from her. He didn’t care about his daughter.

Nice guy, huh? His own dad didn’t give a crap about him or his grandkids, and his mom worshipped the ground he walked on, even though he treated her like crap, too.

And this guy wasn’t 18 – he was 30! But he hadn’t had any influence except his adoring, subservient mother.

This is the type of BS I’m talking about. I eventually talked the wife into moving out of state with both her kids, back in with her parents. That lasted about a year, before she went back to the loser. So while he was both dumb and an asshole, she was pretty dumb, too.

And so I guess maybe that people are dumber than they used to be? Or is it the parents? Because if I were the wife, no matter how dumb I was, my Dad and brothers would have “taken care” of the situation, and that jerk never would have been heard from again.

I honestly don’t understand my fellow men sometimes. That guy took my lifelong dream of marriage and babies, and shit on it. But then, she was apparently down with the program, so what the heck? It’s not like she was an inanimate object.

I agree. I got pretty disgusted with her after awhile. And I had to keep repeating over and over, that it wasn’t about her anymore, or him. It was about the little lives – a blessing from God – that they were responsible for.

Personally, I’m flabbergasted that you haven’t found a nice woman who wants the same things as you do. Underemployed or not; some things are way more important than material goods. Some people say you can’t live on love, but I’m here to say, yes you can.

If you were younger, I’d kick my daughter in the butt and then FedEx her to you. She’s 23 and she needs to get on with things and start having kids, LOL! I deserve grandchildren, dammit!

The way see it is that Amazon by selling the flag in the first place was jsut doing what they do- trying to sell everything and anything they can to me before someone else could.
Their caving in on this now is nothing more than grandstanding not a show of their supposed ethics or solidarity. The Confederate Battle Flag didn’t mean sh¡t to them before else they wouldn’t have been selling it.
I shop Amazon out of convenience and thrift and will keep doing so. It’s not like they were the Confederate flag supplier to the world.

As an aside to RSM- I don’t know how your thing with Amazon works bit if I could send you my Amazon wish list and you could put that on your site it’d be win-win for us both.

My wife’s family is from central Louisiana and her uncle told me a story of the good works the Klan up there back in the day.
His family lived next door to the same type of scum bag that you describe above- to be clear here, a white fellow. One night several local Klan members paid a visit, asked the man to step outside and then kindly explained why it would be in his best interests to straighten up, fly right and start being a better father and husband lest they had to come back and explain in it different terms.
Community involvement is sometimes all that is needed to make a fellow see the error of his ways.

That’s very sweet. I coincidentally put some thought into it the last few days, and came to the conclusion that the most unattractive thing in the world is an insecure man.

I do not believe for a second that 92% of men were confident with women back in the day. I’m pretty sure that it was just that at some point, some gal would notice that a guy who seemed to be out of her league was still untaken, and then it wouldn’t be too hard for her to figure out how to fix that.

The environment has changed and natural selection is a powerful force. I expect that by the end of this century, all American men will be born confident with women, since the rest won’t have any progeny at all.

Ever heard of MGTOW it pisses feminists off no end. They know that they cannot form these female collectives without being heavily supported by a government that uses male resources for the job and males for protection. They also know that male sperm will be needed to qualify them for assistance. It’s great to remove yourself from a beneficial relationship when you can take the benefits with you. MGTOW doesn’t do that.

Maybe, just maybe, you might inform Amazon that “Due to recent “administrative” choices, until this changes,THIS sales outlet will be CLOSED! All click through links will be terminated. No consumer economic boycott has ever worked. The few cases public opinion influence corporate business decisions are based on public relations judgements, not boycotts. If the prospect of taking a few bucks out of RSM’s pockets don’t matter, how about the sheer and utter futility of the act itself? In the end, it only shows the retailer how very impotent you are.

In previous times (*), most boys and young men desired to be husmands and fathers. It’s not simply that they “wanted pussy” — that is a lie of the cads and leftists/feminists, and even today it takes *years* of indoctrination to convince a boy who grows up with his father that all he really wants is no-committent sex — it’s that they wanted to be fathers and husbands: they wanted to be patriarchs

(*) For that matter, even today — a few years, I was visiting one of my sisters back in my homestate. Out nephew came over to show me his just-born daughter. My great-nephew (and nephew of my nephew with the baby), who was maybe 11 at the time, was also there to visit with me. Anyway, watching the great-nephew watch the nephew cuddle his baby, I realized that he desires to be a father, just as I did at that age.

I have reached the conclusion that Feminism is politicized Borderline Personality Disorder. It’s a mysterious mental illness that I never understood until I saw an episode of Law & Order: MSW and the shrink described it as “pathological fear of rejection.” In spite of that very dubious source, it all made sense, all the extreme crazy that I had read about or encountered in various true crime books. And then, last week, I realized the the entire feminist movement suffers from this malady. The hysterics, the rage, the utter terror of not being liked: I don’t think there’s anything else you can call latter-day feminism.
