The #FreeStacy Story: Why Was My @rsmccain Account Suspended?

Posted on | February 20, 2016 | 427 Comments

Unexpectedly, and without explanation, my @rsmccain Twitter account was suspended Friday evening. Based on past experiences, my guess would be that this resulted from a complaint by one of the leading “social justice warriors” (SJWs) who have been at war with #GamerGate since August 2014. However, there was no reason stated for the suspension, and who knows? So I’ve switched to the @SexTroubleBook account I created to promote my book and meanwhile, friends who are fed up with Twitter’s bias and censorship started the #FreeStacy hashtag. This morning I shared some thoughts with a blogger friend who followed the #GamerGate saga:

As I have said for years: Being notorious is not the same as being famous, but it’s better than being anonymous.
That is to say, I don’t often complain about being hated or misunderstood. It comes with the territory. I started out in the news business as a $4.50-an-hour staff writer for a tiny weekly newspaper in Austell, Georgia. Most people have no idea what I did before I got involved in political journalism as an assistant national editor for The Washington Times in 1997, or even have any idea of the work I did there. The vast majority of people who read my blog or follow my Twitter feed have no knowledge of or interest in my personal “backstory.” It’s not about me. I am not the story. I am the guy telling the story, or I am the guy making jokes about the story. I understand that. But I think some people in the New Media era lose sight of this reality.
Politics is like football. It’s a team sport. Until I was in my mid-30s, I was a very partisan Democrat. Bill Clinton (who I voted for in 1992) cured me of my Democrat loyalty. During the 1990s, I began a rather deep autodidactic study of politics, history, economics, philosophy, etc. My politics are conservative, my economics are Austrian, my faith is Christian. It’s that simple — and certain people HATE me for it. But those people hate everybody who is not a Democrat. Fine. I understand that kind of hate, having once been a Democrat myself, but Democrats think of their personal hatred as “social justice.” And so I understand them better than they understand me.
However, it’s not about me. . . .

You can read the whole thing at The Ralph Retort.

This has been a crazy experience, but then again, my whole life has been a crazy experience, so I’m cool with it.

UPDATE: Linked by Darleen Click at Protein Wisdom, Legal Insurrection, Da Tech Guy Blog, Battleswarm, featured at Twitchy, Vox Day, now a Memeorandum thread and welcome, Instapundit readers!

UPDATE II: Robby Soave quotes me accurately at Reason magazine, and they’ll probably never forgive him for it.

UPDATE III: Here’s a podcast I did today:

UPDATE IV: Linked by Donald Douglas at American Power and by Dean Esmay at Dean’s World. Arguably the most interesting post, however, is Ken White at Popehat explaining why he really, really dislikes me and yet . . .

Well, he hates me with every fiber of his being, which is OK. It is a free country, and nobody is required to like me, or even to pretend to like me. However, if Hillary is elected president and our nation descends into anarchy and civil war, and from this chaos emerges a military junta in need of a Supreme Leader as figurehead of New America, I’m available for the gig.

Under such a regime, Generalissimo McCain will not only be obeyed, but also respected and, in fact, it will be the duty of his people to admire and praise the Generalissimo.

Is such an outcome . . . likely? Probably not, but you can’t say it is impossible. You are my people, America, and should circumstances require me to rescue our beloved nation — a swift coup d’état, at a time of crisis — then you understand it will be my duty to answer the call. The Enemies of the People will tremble! And the enemies of the Generalissimo are also the Enemies of the People, obviously.

Blog wars? The Generalissimo will be merciful. It would ill behoove the junta to be settling personal grudges and besides, our manpower will be strained to its limits, rounding up Women’s Studies majors and feminist Tumblr bloggers, giving them a few days’ training, loading them onto C-130s and dropping them by parachute into places like Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, etc., as part of our effort to bring about world peace.

    There is no “obsession” here

That’s why Republicans and their libertarian cousins spend all day and night posting repetitive, whiny and paranoid complaints about SJWs on obscure fringe-blogs. White Republican (and libertarian) males remind me of the American Christians who complain of persecution in 80%-Christian America.

It’s comical to witness Republicans abandoning the concept of private property when a couple of girls get a loudmouth dickhead banned from a private social network. It’s even funnier when these Republicans use the old leftist idea of “public accommodation.” Are you sure you’re not a warrior for social justice?

The concept of private property was abandoned by the left when it pushed the so called “civil rights’ movement. The idea of a public accommodation is now firmly ensconced in case law, and trying to deny that now marks you as a n idiot and hypocrite. The left made the battlefield and they are about to get it shoved down their moronic throats.

The idea of an obsession on the matter is a concept that originated in that infinite space between your ears. Yes, there are a lot of posts about SJWs. SJWs make the moves and we point them out. You don’t like it, then don’t be an SJW.

SJWs are the people obsessed. It is, in fact, a full blown mental illness.

I can’t really tell what White’s beef with RSM is exactly. Is it specific arguments? If so, which ones and why? Is it the tone? His vitriol seems exaggerated compared to what RSM actually posts.

Hilarious how conservatives act against their free market fundamentalism when they’re the ones on the losing end of it. Twitter is a private company and they can ban whoever they want from their platform for whatever reason they want. You guys can always run along and create conservative Twitter, which undoubtedly will end up in the same landfill as attempts at a conservative film and music industry. Why is this, one might ask? It seems that all the tech, and artistic talent has a thoroughly liberal bias.

Yeah twitter is doing a bang up job of increasing revenues by alienating conservatives. Must be why their stock is at an all time high…no wait

Things like Twitter and Facebook lose a tonne of money when they start up and the venture capital companies also tend to be run by leftards as well. Conservatives aren’t interested in producing non-productive things like Twitter and Facebook, but don’t mind using them.

The problem for your ilk is that under the current law they are public accommodations and as such they can’t legally discriminate. Leftards like hiding behind the law when it is convenient, but suddenly drag out the very arguments that were used against them years ago and were discarded by leftard judges lo those same many years ago.

You leftard morons are simply getting hoist on your own petard. Frankly, it’s funny to see you twits whining and speechifying about it now. You’re seeing why useful idiots are always the first people to the wall when the left gains full power.

  13. Saltyron1977
    February 21st, 2016 @ 1:15 pm

    Exactly.

That results in the rise of competition that may/may not accomidate the ones refused, and the free market decides what thrives and what dies.

Here, Twitter is a private company that apparently advertises use by all, then they selectively ban people based on subjective standards. The obvious answer is to go to, or create, competition to Twitter, then flip Twitter the bird and tell them to go f*ck themselves.

But then you have to watch for Twitter to take action to stifle that creation and development of competition (usually using govt.), or watch its fellow travelers insert themselves into the competition’s managerial hierarchy.

    It’s insidious and constant.

When you are thrust into the role of Generalissimo Other McCain, you will find that there are unpleasant tasks which must be done and done well, thoroughly and dispositively.

You may find that Mark Zuckerberg is indeed a threat to national security (meaning precisely the Generalissimo’s continued tenure). You may be required to hire a gang of 15 year old junior varsity football players and send them to his home to negotiate with him and settle matters with some finality.

But hire Ken for your personal staff. No lawyer can resist being close to power. And keeping Ken close is better than his running loose on the internet.

Then there will be the matter of Anita’s increasing mental instability and determining whether she may pose an imminent danger to herself or others, including most especially innocent gaming programmers. If so, she may need in-patient care for an extended, even indefinite time. And perhaps a regime of heavy sedatives.

Or not, because of your hatred for Christ, his followers will be persecuted unto death and may no longer exist publicly. There will be a vibrant underground Church, just as there was in Russia for more than 6 decades, which came back roaring like a lion after the fall of the communist government.
A very real portrait of the validity and truth of Christianity. After more than 60 years of supression and millions of Christians murdered by the communist regime, to suddenly be restored and to have tens of millions followers come out of the shadows, lends credence to the power of the Church!

God bless you and your family my friend! You have taken the Christian directives to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, to care for the widow and orphan to heart and actualized them in your life. To personally do these things, not abrogate your obligation to an inefficient, bloated government agency. I applaud you! To abrogate your personal obligations to a government agency is to embrace government control over you, to become a useless drone of bureaucracy, to abrogate your very humanity.

Not only was he defending a child molester, he also wrote a blog where he stated that he was glad Hunt didn’t apologize to her victim. To me, it sounds like he was blaming the victim with that kind of statment. Very Schmalfedtian if you ask me. When someone like Mix defends a child molester and blames the victim, he has asked for all of the push back he has gotten. Not to mention, his role in aiding Nicole Bonnet in geting twitter users suspended who were pointing out Hunt’s lies. Yep, he asked for it.

I was inclined to dismiss this latest skirmish in the Culture Wars as a tempest in a teapot but, given the nature and character of the combatants, perhaps “a rain drop in a thimble” is more appropriate. The majority of Americans never use Twitter, the vast majority have never heard of Robert Stacy McCain, and more still have never given a moment’s notice to far-right, blog-squatting, undateable man-boys who think the nation’s girls are out to get them.

Two Indians (feather, not dot) wrote a whole book on cuckservatism. There is nothing racist, let alone supremacist, about wanting to retain the social capital that our forefathers spent centuries building up, and which can be destroyed in a matter of decades by importing millions of people from alien low-trust cultures.

There is nothing racist, let alone supremacist, about wanting to not only stop but reverse the largest invasion in human history — and yes, mass migration has globally and historically been what invasion was. The modern form with professional armies is a novel innovation that ultimately doesn’t work as well, generally resulting in reversal within years or decades.

I would go further and say the diaspora was made complete after Hadrian put down the Bar Kochba revolt in AD 125. Jews were not even allowed back into Jerusalem and Hadtian built a temple to Jupiter on the ite Fort Antonia and the actual Temple site in the City of David.

You may not have heard about it, but archeological evidence places the site of the Temple in the City of David National Park south of what has been called the Temple Mount. The story can be read in the book “Temple” by Robert Cornuke. The book has problems in editing, as so many seem to have now, but the evidence he publishes is absolutely fascinating. Israel can rebuild the temple without disturbing the Dome of The Rock or Al Aqsa.
