The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Good
Close friend of this blog Mike LaChance blogs over at Breitbart’s about the brain trust in Braintree, Mass. The sound of all of the Lefty sphincters slamming shut has to do with the crowd of intrepid citizens, who, realizing that the difference between themselves and the bozos in office is that the citizens have greater integrity, are running for office. He concludes:

With the election of Republican Scott Brown, Massachusetts became the subject of national interest over the last month. If this new wave of average citizens turned candidates follow through with their goals, Massachusetts may set a new standard in politics which hearkens back to America’s roots.
A government truly of, by and for the people.

Beyond, the Founding Fathers smile in approval, one surmises.

The Bad
Makes My Brain Itch has an example to the south of LaChance’s, in the People’s Republic of Maryland:

So the Democrats want to amend the Constitution…
Congresswoman Donna Edwards (D-Md) has
introduced an amendment to attempt to overrule the Supreme Court’s decision on Citizens United vs FEC. The proposed amendment will read:
“ARTICLE—
“SECTION 1. The sovereign right of the people to govern being essential to a free democracy, Congress and the States may regulate the expenditure of funds for political speech by any corporation, limited liability company, or other corporate entity.
“SECTION 2. Nothing contained in this Article shall be construed to abridge the freedom of the press.”

It suddenly occurs to me, after a good workout, that ‘tool’ is ‘loot’ spelled backwards. Rep. Edwards, if you watch the clip, truly believes that this, rather than, say repealing the 16th & 17th Amendments, or snuffing the Federal Reserve Act, is what we should be doing. I’ll go ahead and register sadness. I simply think she has no significant grasp of organizational behavior, and doesn’t realize she’s pissing in the wind here, or she understands all too well that the result of this amendment would end up the opposite of its stated intent.
Gillespie at Reason TV offers the good representative a trio of sedatives for her tension:

The Ugly

Now, I shouldn’t pick on Stacy, but a jolly swipe completes the triptych. The excellently named Caught Him With A Corndog (whose secret origin remains mysterious) has a post offering a bit of Skynyrd and an entreaty to support RSM. Now, while we can’t invoke that title without an Ennio Morricone reference, the need to support Stacy’s latest madcap adventure stand before us. So please consider the tip jar while this blog grips you with the Ecstasy of Gold:

I would be happy to support Rep Edwards Amendment if she would add in a Section 1A also denying free speech to any Leftist Billionaires who use their *private* fortunes to buy votes, rig Presidential and Congressional Elections, register dead and imaginary voters, fund ACORN, etc. and generally corrupt the electoral process in this country. I suspect she doesn’t see that as nearly as much of a threat.

    @ George-

Those groups are specificaly NOT included. It would be odd if they were, considering the organizations behinds Edwards are staffed by union officials, ACORN’s legal representatives, MoveOn emplyoyees and more. Please check my post. Names, links, more:

Spaghetti westerns…that’s my Dad’s department as I could never get into them much. Here’s hoping Stacy collects enough to enjoy the electrifying effects of the gourmet coffee ala Jack-n-the-Box as opposed to the midnight-at-Circle K kind.Woot!

    @ Scratch-

Actually, I thought that’s exactly what I was implying (that she would never offend those corrupt groups that are backing her).

    Maybe my sarcasm needs work?
