Recently a marketing genius on X yclept Mike Alfred came up with a notion reminiscent of the old Big Johnson Brokerage T-shirts.* He proposed an advertising campaign for Treasury Bonds featuring the extremely attractive Sydney Sweeney. In response, I proposed that they put Ms. Sweeney on the $100 Savings Bonds, resume printing said bonds on paper, and watch them sell out in a week. Secretary Bessent may be gay, but he’s a long way from stupid, and one hopes he sees the merit in harnessing Ms. Sweeney’s beauty in the national interest.
