Wedding Day

My 21-year-old daughter, Kennedy Catherine McCain, is getting married at 10 a.m. today to Martin, which means that my attempts to bribe the couple into eloping have failed.

When I saw this headline, I misunderstood for a second and thought the judge had ruled weddings unconstitutional but . . .

Several months ago, I remember being told that this would be what is called a “small” wedding. For reasons that have not been adequately explained, we have only an estimate of the number of guests who have RSVP’d, but it’s somewhere between 130 and 197. And they must be fed.

As you might guess, I won’t be blogging much today. More on the happy occasion here.

  1. Hahaha, I laughed out loud at the eloping line.

Congrats, Stacy! I wish your daughter the best of luck 🙂

P.S., tell your sons I’m still single and have no problem being a cougar/sugar mama.

  3. Congratulations, Stacy!

There’s a silver lining in all of this – grandchildren 🙂 Here’s wishing the happy couple may years of love and laughter.

  7. Please pass on hearty congratulations for a life of happiness and love from Mrs. Belvedere and myself.

You’re not losing a daughter; you’re gaining another son who can rattle a tip jar.

    Te Salute!
    Bob

  9. CONGRATULATIONS to the lovely couple and your families!

Now, in the tradition of The Godfather, I seem to remember that you, Robert Stacy McCain, cannot refuse any request on your daughter’s wedding day. Since you’ve already blog-rolled me (thank you!), which would have been my request, can I instead ask for gg to be banned?

  11. Stacy:
This must be a very bittersweet moment for you; your little baby is all grown up and going out and making a life of her own.

I am sure that you will have a tear or two while you walk her down the aisle.

Best of luck to the bride and groom, may they have many more good days than bad.

  13. Don McCaineone, I am honored and grateful that you have allowed me to comment on your blog at your daughter’s wedding…on the day of your daughter’s wedding. And I hope their first child will be a conservative child. I pledge my never-ending loyalty.

No conservative can ever refuse a request on his daughter’s wedding day, so I would ask you, with all respect Blogfather, to let me whack Conor.

Don McCaineone, I will leave you now because I know that you are busy…

  15. Congratulations, Stacy. Remember, you’re not losing a daughter, you’re gaining valuable storage space.

  17. gg, it’s just not my fault, nor Stacy’s fault, that you are so pathetic that you can’t even get your own left hand to have sex with you.

Just on a side note: you should have picked a different week to trash me for being unmarried. Between two dates with the MD and dinner out with a CEO friend who flew into town to wine me and dine me, I’m loving the single life! You should have picked a few weeks ago, when things were falling apart with Mr. High Ranking Military Officer (whom Stacy et al. met).

  19. Congratulations, Stacy. Blessings to your daughter and new son-in-law for a rich and happy marriage.

(And banning gg ain’t a bad idea.)

  21. Congratulations to the happy couple, Stacy!

Add my name to the list of those partial to seeing gg banned– opposing views are one thing, crass trolling is another. Leave the trolls on Slashdot, where they belong.
