“If the question is which state has changed most in the last half-century, the answer might be California. But if the question is which state has changed most for the better, the answer might be South Carolina.”

    KIAWAH ISLAND, SC”

Dude. There’s your blogging payola right there. Kiawah Island is a very plush, very expensive private island right on the Atlantic coast.

Beautiful beach and a 4 different golf courses. One of them is even PGA Tour rated (I think that’s the correct term for it).

I couldn’t afford the green fees.. Only the driving range. 🙂 ($15 for an hour and all the balls you can hit during that time)

The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort is to have hosted the 2007 Senior PGA and will host the 2012 PGA Championships. The Ocean Course will become only the fourth course to host each of the PGA of America’s major championships.

    Sorry for the O/T diatribe.

Doesn’t South Carolina have to replace one of its Senators before it can claim that? Yes Senator Graham, we mean you.

If your argument is which state has changed for the worst, that would also be California

We really don’t give a rat’s patootie what George Will thinks, but we will gladly take his money.

Kiawah RESORT is private, but the island itself isn’t. It’s the adjacent Seabrook Island which is entirely privately owned. Both are the sort of places where, if you have to ask the prices, you can’t afford it and should just stick to Hilton Head.

By private I mean there was a gate and a guard house on the road before I could drive through there and I had to be on ‘The List’.
