Billionaire Prepared to Spend $20 Million on My Blog Newt Gingrich’s Campaign

Posted on | December 15, 2011 | 11 Comments

Is Newt a better investment?

Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson is planning to direct $20 million to an outside group backing Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign, multiple sources told POLITICO – the first answer to urgent pleas from allies to the former speaker’s long-time billionaire supporters.
After leaving Congress, Gingrich cultivated a network of a few dozen uber-wealthy backers who poured tens of millions of dollars into a network of groups that helped him maintain a foothold in politics. Now, operatives supporting his presidential campaign are asking those same donors to write fat checks to a suite of new super PACs they hope can spend big on ads to offset Gingrich campaign fundraising that had lagged behind his rivals.

Hey, Mr. Adelson, wanna buy a blog? C’mon, I’ll throw in a perfectly good sidekick and a slightly used Wombat. But wait — there’s more! My vast list of e-mails and phone numbers of bloggers — that’s gotta be worth something, right?

Right? Hello? Is this thing on?

Never mind. Guys like Sheldon Adelson don’t read blogs. He probably hires guys to read blogs for him.

Now you know the path to that Vanuatu ambassadorship. Or at least one in Vegas…

$20 million would be overkill.  I’m guessing $1 million would be more than sufficient to get you Vanuatu.  We’re not talking the Court of St. James.

Ladd said it best, Republican donors love to throw their money in a landfill, rather than even notice that Conservative bloggers even exist.

Republican operatives, pundits, and big money donors don’t like the blogs, because they don’t want them to have influence. I wonder why that would be.

LOL – If they only knew. Mainstream reporters are lazy, they get all their ideas from blogs and Twitter. But blogs have too many words, not just big words, but any words. In fact, now they spend a lot of time writing about what they are reading on Twitter, they don’t have to think, or read much. Just skim, laugh, copy, paste. (Not counting the ones that get their directions from Journ-O-list.)
