MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.
Having been in some media filing centers where we were lucky to get a cup of coffee, I just wanted to give a shout-out to the Myrtle Beach Conventions and Visitors Bureau, which provided the press a wonderful lunch today, with homestyle food and sweet iced tea. We didn’t get anything like this in Iowa or New Hampshire, that’s for sure.

A sand sculpture of the six Republican candidates who will debate here Monday night on Fox News.

The sign at the media hospitality tent.

My 12-year-old son Jefferson, serving as my assistant during this trip, chows down on fried chicken. You see my own plate — roast beef, rice, green beans and broccoli cheese casserole — in the foreground.

Yeah, really!  First thing I noticed, after the Smile of Repletion from Jefferson.

Well, at least Coke is headquartered in Atlanta, which was once a Southern city.

Broccoli and cheese casserole?  In South Carolina?  Not that I have anything against it, just never seen it here before.  Who catered this affair anyway?

In today’s news, lest you get the idea there are sane people in charge down here, the largest paper in the state endorsed . . . Huntsman.

Yeah, you read it correctly.  Of course, McClatchy owns them so they can’t be expected to make any sense.  The locally-owned Post & Courier is just as bad; the left has taken over the newspaper business, which is hastening its demise.

Hey, us Southrons are known for our hospitality and mostly good manners.

At least RSM is drinking the national beverage of the Confederacy instead of that Atlanta swill.

Friends in the Columbia area call “The State” “The Snake” for it’s Yankee proclivties. last I heard it was a Gannett paper.

I hear Gannett is having cash flow problems 🙂

Sometimes my dyslexia provides insightful anomalies.
When I saw the pic of the media hospitality tent billboard
I read it twice and saw Mental Retardation Hospital each time before my brain unscrambled the mass of M’s and H’s and R’s

No, it’s McClatchy, which is like Gannett except without a soul.

The sand sculpture is a nice idea, but, look at the full-size version of the picture: Perry looks like Reagan, Santorum like John Kerry, the guy to Perry’s right looks like Teddy Kennedy – only Newt looks like Newt.
