Stephen K. Bannon, who directed the Sarah Palin documentary The Undefeated, has been named executive chairman of the board of Breitbart LLC, the conservative New Media company announced today. The parent company of Breitbart.com also announced that Larry Solov, an attorney and longtime friend of the late Andrew Breitbart, has been named as CEO and President.

“Andrew and I were like brothers our whole lives and have been business partners since 2007,” Solov said in a press statement (full text below). “Steve was a great friend of Andrew’s and has been there the last several years helping us build Breitbart News. Andrew possessed a very specific vision of what he wanted the company to become. Steve and I share that vision, which we will pursue relentlessly.”

Bannon praised the company’s founder for his “unique visionary leadership,” and vowed “to pick up his torch and forge ahead.” The company also made official announcements of a number of other top management positions at Breitbart.com: Joel Pollak as editor-in-chief, Alex Marlow as managing editor and Ben Shapiro as editor-at-large.

Company is focused on realizing Andrew Breitbart’s New Media Vision
Los Angeles, CA (March 19, 2012)—Breitbart News Network, LLC, the parent company of leading media website Breitbart.com, announced today that the company’s Board of Directors has appointed Stephen K. Bannon as Executive Chairman and Laurence G. Solov as Chief Executive Officer/President, effectively immediately.  Andrew Breitbart, the company’s founder, held these positions at the time of his unexpected passing on March 1st.
Breitbart News Network LLC is one of the country’s leading news and information corporations – a blend of technology, content, and capital dedicated to fulfilling the New Media vision of Andrew Breitbart. At the time of Mr. Breitbart’s death, the company was putting the finishing touches on an overhaul and re-launch of the Breitbart.com website, a project he had shepherded for more than a year. The company took the newly revamped Breitbart.com live on March 5.
Mr. Solov, a former partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman, LLP, previously served as the company’s outside counsel until 2007, at which point Mr. Solov and Mr. Breitbart became business partners. He served as a member of the Breitbart News Board of Directors since the company’s inception. Mr. Solov is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Stanford University and received his law degree from the UCLA School of Law.
“Andrew and I were like brothers our whole lives and have been business partners since 2007,” said Mr. Solov.  “Steve was a great friend of Andrew’s and has been there the last several years helping us build Breitbart News.  Andrew possessed a very specific vision of what he wanted the company to become. Steve and I share that vision, which we will pursue relentlessly.”
Mr. Bannon is a former Naval Officer, serving aboard a destroyer with the Pacific Fleet and as a Special Assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations. In addition, he is a former M&A investment banker at Goldman Sachs. He is a film writer/director. Mr. Bannon was most recently the Chairman/CEO of IMI Exchange, one of the world’s largest digital asset exchanges. Like Mr. Solov, he has served on the board of Breitbart News since the company’s founding. Mr. Bannon has Masters degrees from Georgetown University and Harvard Business School.
“Andrew Breitbart’s unique visionary leadership can never be replaced,” said Mr. Bannon. “Our duty is to pick up his torch and forge ahead, as he would have expected of us.  Every member of management is dedicated to ensuring that Andrew’s voice is heard through the pages of Breitbart News.”
The company also announced the appointment of Joel B. Pollack as Editor-in-Chief. Mr. Pollak previously ran for U.S. Congress in Illinois, worked for Alan Dershowitz, and worked for Tony Leon in South Africa.  He is a graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Law School.
“The company’s highest editorial priority during this important election year is the continuation of a project to which Andrew Breitbart was passionately committed,’ said Mr. Pollock. “Andrew was vocal about organizing a presidential vetting campaign, with Breitbart News offering a systematic and thorough review of all the major presidential candidates. That will be a large part of our focus in 2012.”
Alexander Marlow will serve as Managing Editor. Mr. Marlow, a graduate of the University of California-Berkeley, worked closely with Mr. Breitbart since coming aboard as the first Breitbart News hire in 2008. He offers a continuation of Andrew Breitbart’s editorial vision and passion for groundbreaking investigative journalism.
Ben Shapiro was named Editor-at-Large. Mr. Shapiro is a graduate of UCLA and Harvard Law School and the author of multiple bestselling books, most recently Primetime Propaganda and Brainwashed.

From the interviews I’ve seen of Bannon, he has a very similar sense Andrew’s of boiling outrage at the Democrat/Media complex.  He also seems to have Andrew’s ability to show folks exactly what is wrong in few words.

(For example, Andrew’s famous remark: “They accuse YOU of doing what THEY do TO you.”)

The right people are in charge over at Breitbart: all of them very close and very loyal to Sarah Palin.

Could you please be correct and consistent in spelling Joel Pollak’s name. There it is: Pollak. Any other rendition is incorrect.

Glad to hear the good news, though!
