It’s really hard to grasp Cheney’s position on the fellow, under all the spin and whitewash:
“He has been an unmitigated disaster to the country,” Cheney said of President Barack Obama.
via Liz Cheney
Update: thank you, Instapundit!
Update II:
Too bad he wasn’t healthy enough to run. Can’t say I like him on everything, but there’s one guy who knows how to tell it like it is and lets the chips fall where they will. And he’s better and more consistent at it than Newt at his best.
“An unmitigated disaster to the country” sums up BHO’s presidency in just six words. No parsing needed.
Short, sweet and to the point.
And it takes one to know one.
Reading between the lines I think he said Obama’s a SCOAMF.
Dick Cheney should have been president in 2000.
Like if you agree. He could have twittered this. I wonder which part of the people he’s divided think this way.
Perhaps the greatest American book ever written, How To Win Friends And Influence People, uses the term “unmitigated ass.”
Cheney says “unmitigated” dis”as”ter.
Which is close enough for me.
Here’s some Critical Race Theory deconstruction: the word “an” is raaaaaaaaaaaacist!
/sarc off
It would’ve been hilarious if Cheney actually said that!
Really? Pray tell, do tell us just why Cheney was such a disaster.
I am disinclined to acquiesce to support Obamanus with my franchise…
….means “vote no” /Capt. Barbarossa
Pray tell us Charles…from whence comes your enlightened opinion, or are you also one who knows one?????
So, you’re admitting that Obama is an unmitigated disaster?
From the title alone, I was guessing Cheney’s opinion of King Joffrey Baracktheon would be reducible to three syllables, including two hard ‘k’ sounds.
I was not disappointed.
Ann Coulter:
“3000 years of beautiful tradition, from Moses to Sandy Koufax?
You’re G&^*%( right I’m living in the … past.”
– W. Sobcjeck
Too blunt to make it any farther in this day and age. Still, like Mrs. Palin, Mr. Cheney will draw rock-star level crowds at gatherings.
While still serving in the USN, I had a chance to brief SecDef Cheney on his farewell tour through our overseas location. He was then and clearly remains today the epitome of political altruism; relaxed, confident, a true gentleman and a great intellect.

Dick Cheney was an unmitigated disaster as Vice President. First, we all know he was Bush’s puppeteer, and had Bush start two illegal wars in order to give Halliburton no-bid contracts so that their stock prices would go up. Since Obama threw Bush and Cheney out of office in a landslide victory in 2008, we have heard nothing about Halliburton. Mcheney had political prisoners detained without charge and tortured at Guantanamo Bay, which outraged the world. We never hear about that place anymore thanks to Obama being President. Cheney spent 8 years instituting policies designed to harm women, children, minorities, blue collar union workers, atheists, and gays, and destroyed the economy. Obama might need 5 terms to fix what Cheney did to America. Cheney should be arrested and sent to the Hague, given a fair trial, summarily convicted, and spend the rest of his life in jail, while denying health care to him like he would to women, minorities, and gays.
Perhaps you don’t realize that George Bush was constitutionally limited to 8 years and that Obama did not throw him out of office, but then the Constitution doesn’t matter much to you lefties, does it?
Might want to check your sarcasm-detection sensitivity settings…
Just in case anybody misses the sarcasm, I’d point out that both wars were duly authorized by Congress months ahead of time. But if you’re really interested in two wars that actually were/are ILLEGAL, than you might want to look into the conspicuous lack of Congressional Authorization for the US participation in hostilities in Libya (which greatly exceeded 60 days without further authorization as required by the WPRA) and sending in advisors to help train an African regime to track down Koni.
That Dick Cheney sure is subtle! 🙂
Your a funny guy bagofwhatevryournameis. Do you scribe these tomes of wisdom at daily kos everyday or just when your off your meds ?
I’ve always thought Cheney was one of the most qualified men in history to be President – a decade of solid conservative leadership in the House, was Chief of Staff at age 34 under Ford, served as Secretary of Defense, and a successful CEO of the dreaded Halliburton. He would have made a stellar President, certainly better than those he served.
Or 1996. Or 1988. Or 2008.
The reason Halliburton got no-bid contracts under Clinton and Bush is that there was no other company in the world who could have done the work they did. The French firm Schlumberger could have done much of the oil-related work, but not the broader construction needs, and France wasn’t even supporting our Iraq operation.
I don’t hold it against you, though, idiots can’t help their ignorance.
And succinct!
anyone selling “I agree with Cheney” bumper stickers yet.?
I was thinking the same thing. I know he’s an honorary Moron, but now I think the reads Ace.
Hum…I’ll see about it. Have some “vote him out while you can” stickers on ebay.
Perhaps you missed the note of irony in bggatbdl’s comment?
I’m not sure, but I think he may be making a reference directed toward the proposals, decisions, and policy positions taken by someone elected to the presidency three years ago. Just guessing.
Obama has failed
The worst President ever
Jimmy Carter smiles!
Well, now we know that Cheney’s a racist too.
I would have to agree to all of that. And I would add, in response to all those who insist that Bush was Cheney’s “puppet”, I only wish he had been.
In the closing days of his second term, Bush was given a ready-to-launch attack plan on Iranian nuclear sites by the Israelis. All they needed was a green-light from the US. Cheney agreed, Rice and Powell were afraid it would redound negatively to US efforts in Iraq. In the end, Bush went with Rice and Powell.
Nuff said.
I couldn’t better have said it myself.
Suggest the more concise 3 words: “an unmitigated disaster”.
The harm from this administration extends well beyond our borders.
Perhaps the reason we don’t hear anything about Halliburton these days is because, since the end of 2007 billionaire George Soros has quietly invested $62 million in the purchase of more than 2 million shares of Halliburton, the major government contractor criticized by his own Open Society Institute and the activist group he funds, MoveOn.org.
So let’s see how this works, you relentlessly fund the leftwing attack machine which targets Halliburton, drive the prices of the stock down, then invest in the company and then call off the attack. Perhaps Michael Moore will no longer have to hide his Halliburton portfolio. If George Soros was a Republican the SEC would put him in jail for doing something like that.
Perhaps it is just a coincidence, that with the possible exception of a few uninformed individuals such as you, the Halliburton attack was called off in early 2008. You really need to get an updated list of talking points, using four year old talking points is an embarrassment. The official party line is that Halliburton is now a good company.

To complain about the job that President Obama has done and/or is doing is equivalent to watching water flow over a dam. As an independent conservative, I hold the entire Bush Administration (including Vice President Cheney), Sen. John McCain, Karl Rove and the entire Republican Establishment responsible for completely failing to educate American voters as to what, Senator Obama’s political leanings were leading up to the 2008 election. It is inconceivable that they were not aware of his leftist leanings. Nor could they not know about the virtually endless capabilities of the left’s political machine funded by George Soros and his various political enterprises.
President Obama has merely set out to implement and accomplish his left leaning political goals and his agenda by using the resources made available to him.
On the other hand, the Republican Establishment could have easily headed off this “disaster” had they put their hearts and minds to it rather than taking a pass during Bush’s last term and during the 2012 election campaign.
If political observers want to lay this debacle at the hands of our independent FREE PRESS, which is permitted by our Constitution, I would concur with their assessment but insist that the Republicans had to have their heads in the sand.
I actually wrote him a letter when he was at Halliburton, begging him to run in 1996 (the year Dole was the nominee). Got a nice note back which declined, saying he was out of politics.
I had no trouble at all understanding Mr. Cheney’s opinion, as I happen to agree wholeheartedly.
Powell was long gone by the end of the second term. However, there is no doubt that W listened to Rice and had tuned out Cheney.
I have to admit, I sure did, because it sounds just like a lot of leftist rants I’ve read over the years, ones which I knew were not meant in irony, at least not intentionally.
I met Mr. Cheney in spring 2009. He is a total gentleman, rather humble and gentle in person. I agree with those here who say he would have made a great president. He is nothing at all like he’s operated by the pathetically rude American Left.
That was supposed to be “portrayed” not “operated”. Stupid smart phone.

Oooooo! Look! Bunnies!!!!!
we need a good, strong patriot like cheney…where are they?
