$118.9 Million

Posted on | December 6, 2012 | 11 Comments

In the final weeks of the 2012 election season, Mitt Romney’s campaign collected $85.9 million in contributions.

During the same time period, casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and his wife donated $33 million to two Republican “super-PACs.”

They lost.

Maybe you noticed.

Suggestions of more helpful uses for that money are hereby solicited.

Sheldon Adelson never hit my tip jar. Just sayin’ . . .

Right. I mean, what the hell? If you’re gonna blow $118.9 million, at least do it in a way where there’s some reasonable prospect of winning.

More personally, for me, buy one of every pinball machine ever made and a building large enough to put them all on permanent exhibition. After all, ipdb.org only lists 5,553 machines.

You must be kidding, right? If not, what an about-face! You were the one who was telling us how the polls were wrong, Nate Silver’s 60-90% O win odds were so biased and that based on your superior on-the- ground journalistic instincts and intuition Romney always had a way better chance of winning than what the polls suggested or Silver and others projected.

You must choose a career as a politician. You would excel in that.

May it take him as long to find it as it’s taken so many of the rest of us thanks to his undeserved reputation as a campaign genius.

On a serious note, believe we need to be funding policy ads throughout the next 4 years. For example, we should have ads on why tax increases will harm the economy and, if we have to have higher taxes, why the fiscal cliff might be the best alternative because it cuts the deficit in half rather than the 15% Obama is offering (even if he actually gets the spending cuts he promises).

In other words, we should be prepping the ground for 2014 ad 2016.

It would have been more useful for every American to shove an equal portion up his arse.

If that kind of money ever hit your tip jar you’d take a powder. We’d prolly find you in a cabin on Vanuatu and your blog would be history. We can’t possibly have that, so we must keep you poor.
