Hunt Family Values: #FreeKate’s Underage Sister ‘Went Out and Drank’?

This March 17 Twitter message sent by Kaitlyn Hunt’s little sister is something that was called to my attention nearly three months ago. At the same time I received a copy of the message in which the sister, 16, boasted about her mother, Kelley Hunt Smith, being a “f–king badass.” As I wrote on May 30:

 I had to think whether it was fair to post this. After all, Emily is a minor and not really competent to . . . Oh, wait.

At the heart of the “Free Kate” argument is the claim that Kaitlyn’s 14-year-old victim was competent to consent to sex with an adult, and if one buys that argument — in effect invalidating the legal age of consent — then who is to say that Kaitlyn’s sister’s public boasts about her going out to drink are off-limits? In fact, one Hunt family acquaintance claims that nothing has been off limits for these girls:

[Kelley Hunt Smith] has always allowed her daughters to do as they please. I know for a fact that the 2nd oldest dated a 20 year old when she was only 14! The mother would allow these things. The girls [were allowed] to have boys over for parties, that would turn into a sleepover, where there would be drug and alcohol use. This was a few years ago, but the kids at that time ranged from 13-15.

Hmmm. Permitting her minor daughters to have sleepovers with boys “where there would be drug and alcohol use“?

And then, in March 2013 — a month after Kaitlyn was arrested on felony charges of having sex with a 14-year-old — the younger sister is bragging on social media that she’s about to go out drinking?

Do you see where this might be relevant to the case, especially when the mother who allegedly permitted this behavior, Kelley Hunt Smith, was the original character witness for Kaitlyn Hunt, writing a 1,500-word Facebook post to praise Kaitlyn as “exemplary . . . wonderful . . . she truly is the model student and child”?

Considering the description of Kaitlyn’s behavior, and considering what has been said about Kelley Hunt Smith’s parenting, don’t these dots form a pattern? Also, remember that two-on-one beatdown?

“Beat her f**king ass, Emily! Beat her ass! Get that bitch!”

Twin terrors of the Treasure Coast, the Hunt sisters beat up a girl at the beach — an assault on a juvenile captured on video by a Sebastian River High School classmate who said of Kaitlyn:

“She is known as a whore throughout the school . . .
my whole school knows she’s not a good person.”

Kaitlyn Hunt’s character as “the model student and child” was central to Kelley Hunt Smith’s May 17 Facebook post that began the “Free Kate” movement. But who is Kelley Hunt Smith to judge anyone’s character, considering what hooligans she has raised? And remember what prosecutors said in their petition to revoke Kaitlyn’s bond?

In addition to the contact by the defendant, the state is in possession of text messages from the defendant’s mother, Kelley Hunt Smith, sent to the child victim on March 26, 2013. These messages were sent after the court issued the “no contact” order. . . . In the messages, the defendant’s mother tampered with the child victim. She solicited the child victim to obstruct the judicial process, instructing her to destroy the evidence of unlawful contact. Specifically, Kelly Hunt Smith texted the child victim, “Destroy EVERYTHING . . . My # is 512-924-4145 my email is [email protected] PLEASE destroy everything and make sure NO ONE finds out you’ve spoken to Kate at all.”

Oops. When this was presented to the court last week, Judge Robert Pegg declared that the “evidence is overwhelming” Kaitlyn violated the no-contact order and sent her to jail, with a new felony charge against her for her own communications with the minor victim:

Hunt sent more than 20,000 text messages to the younger girl after the no-contact order was issued, and also sent the victim “lewd” photos and an explicit video of herself “masturbating by rubbing her vagina with her fingers while moaning.”

Yeah, that’s a felony in Florida, and her mother allegedly also “tampered with the child victim . . . to obstruct the judicial process,” so that Kelley Hunt Smith is now also in jeopardy of felony charges.

No more plea bargain for Kaitlyn, and her mother’s whining that Kaitlyn’s in real jail with real criminals. Kaitlyn’s father Steven Hunt is a disgraced ex-cop who once “pressured a victim not to file a battery charge,” and now it seems the Hunt gang wants to shut down this blog.

Maybe this makes the behavior of @MLE_Bitchess kind of relevant.

  5. If you ever needed a lab experiment for what is wrong with permissive parenting, the Hunt girls are perfect examples. The jury may still be out on Emily, but Kaitlyn appears to be a textbook sociopath. It appears that the apples aren’t falling too far from the tree in the Hunt family.

  6. We have all this and more to look forward to once the left is finished with its ‘adjustments’ to the nuclear family.

  7. The Good Book says “a child left to himself will bring the mother to shame” Of course if you’re a reprobate like Kelley, what’s shame got to do with it.
    And so her demon spawn continue a long slow public self destruct. Tragic or pathetic or something.

  8. Most people go to the beach to have fun. Apparently for the Hunt girls brutalizing people is a good time.

    These girls are damn near feral.

  11. I feel sorry for them in the same way that I feel sorry for a dog turned dangerous by years of neglect and abuse. The fact that it should be isolated or put down doesn’t lessen the tragedy of how it came to be that way. The same for those girls: their parents failed them, and now any promise that they had is gone. They’re going to suffer in no small part because of the failure of others to provide guidance and discipline.

  12. Nothing like posting your illegal activities online for everyone to see. “Everyone” like the cops. The Hunts really are not the brightest bulbs in the lots, are they?

  13. I feel bad for the rest of the girls. They are truly being brought up to think this kind of behavior is ok. Extremely sad!!

  14. And where has Florida Child Protective Services all these years. Kelly Hunt Smith lets Emily drink in violation of law.

  16. Social services needs to take these kids away from these parents, so they have some kind of chance at rehabilitation. They need an upstanding father and mother guiding them, showing real love and care and assertive discipline. Kelley Hunt needs to do time for her tampering with the 14 yr old victim. Seriously, why haven’t there been any charges brought up by the authorities for that yet?

    Y’know, liberals like Brian Beutler get angry when conservatives pay attention to crime committed by black people — it’s racist or something. Yet the issue is properly about culture, not race, and here we see Thug Culture exemplified by young whites, but again liberals don’t want us to notice it. Why?

    Because the same culture of lawless hedonism that fosters crime also produces Democrat voters!

  20. The Emily Hunt tweet and I believe there are other examples of similar conduct. If I’m not mistaken and when her social media profiles weren’t private I remember seeing her having uploaded photos of herself drinking high alcohol content Four Lokos too. The fact that Kelley Hunt-Smith follows her daughters on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram give credence to the anonymous comment that she lets her kids run wild.

  21. What still boggles the mind is that the mother here, Kelley Hunt Smith, didn’t put all of her girls on lock-down after the first arrest back in February, or particularly when she decided to make them all famous in May.
    Before launching a public campaign for your “model citizen” daughter would not a mother make sure to scrub social media sites. It’s not like she can claim she didn’t know about their twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vine, Tumblr accounts because she was friends with her daughters on all of them.

    I think a mother would sit her girls down and have a hard talk with them and say something like, we are going to be under public scrutiny so stay off social media and at the very least command them not to be posting anything incriminating or illegal?
    But no, not Kelley Hunt Smith. Obviously in her world, she and the daughters following in her example, have no regard for the law.

    What is insane is that this mother, Kelley Hunt Smith, knowing that her daughter had already violated the No Contact order, advised her daughter against taking either of the two very lenient plea deals offered by the State,
    This is something I will never understand because clearly this mother was not ever acting in the best interest of Kaitlyn or any of her sisters.

  24. Pay attention to Kelley when this all began as she frames Kate’s behavior as normal or typical.

    Wild teens attract other wild teens. Kelley thought her daughters were popular and this was great. Kelley was either too poorly raised herself or had become too decadent to understand how inappropriate all of this was. It was a home of loose women.
