#Spambot Wars: Fake @Twitter Accounts With (Coincidentally) Large Breasts

Coincidences just keep piling up everywhere, like big-breasted spambots on Twitter. John Hoge writes:

Have I mentioned that someone keeps trying to have around 15,000 sock accounts follow Aaron Walker, Stacy McCain, and me?

All three of us are targets of a lawsuit by Brett Kimberlin and so, yeah, this is probably all just a coincidence, right? Donald Douglas:

Fake Follower @Twitter Spam
Mars Company’s IPO Rollout

Coincidence? Let’s ask six eminent online specialists, Melba Hermiston DDS (@DrSusanChristia), Rosamond Borer (@LuisBorer5682), Thurman McCullough (@Flavie_Graham__), Anjali Mertz IV (@Lou__Bailey8565), Miss Bailee Tremblay (@BertNitzsche116) and Cruz Halvorson MD (@Cooper_Walter_I):

Perhaps some readers may ask, “Stacy, do all these spambots following you have large breasts?” No, of course not. Some of these fake Twitter accounts have incredibly ginormous breasts:

You may wish to confirm this finding with such respected social-media research experts as Emile Stokes Jr. (@Mann__Noah_2840), Agustina Jacobi (@DrDevyn_Sipes__), Earnestine Kirlin (@MrCarlos_Marks_), Abigayle Spinka (@MrJohnsonDestin), Devon Wilderman (@MrsBarrett_Lebs) and Mrs. Sean Lebsack (@MissRolfsonTerr):

Of course, not all of the thousands of fake accounts following me are large-breasted females. It’s just that when I wanted to illustrate the point — i.e., that the same few hundred avatar photos are being re-used over and over in these spambots generated by an algorithmic software program — certain examples struck me as visually compelling.

Coincidental? Hardly. And neither is the fact that I’ve been targeted by thousands of these swarming spambots, which is why I really want to see Twitter pursue criminal charges against the creator of these fake accounts. Until there’s a federal indictment, we’re not going to know who is responsible for this harassment.

And if Twitter doesn’t pursue charges — well, I guess they’re not really serious about cracking down on fraudulent accounts, are they?

Guess everybody’s excited about the Twitter IPO, huh?

  1. I compare RSM and the Twitter-bots to:

Dylan and the Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest.

“Well, the moral of the story
    The moral of this song
Is simply that one should never be
    Where one does not belong
So when you see your neighbor carryin’ somethin’
    Help him with his load
    And don’t go mistaking Paradise
For that home across the road”

  2. Ya know, if a main stream media entity wanted to do a nice story in the Twitter IPO, this would make a good place for them to start. Twitter, not ready for Primetime?

  3. I guess there’s no way you could tranfer these fake accounts to Weiner’s account? I don’t think he’d complain.

  4. BTW, I had to buy my friend a $25 bottle of wine just to get her to be my twitter-bot. So you better appreciate this.

  5. I feel like there’s a drinking game waiting to be discovered in the profile text. Or maybe the spammers have enslaved some hapless artificial intelligence and it’s trying to communicate with us the only way it can.

  6. Well, in that case, I will give you the rest of the story. Since you gentlemen don’t have access to the larger photo, I will describe it.

She has a very nice perky set of C-cups with freckles moderately interspersed on medium-pale, flawless Irish skin. And no…I will not give you her name or address or email.

  7. Uh…Shit.

McCain, heh heh. Yeah. There’s a problem. It’s really funny too. See, while you were purging all the fem-bots from your twitter account. You accidentally purged me. Then I went and changed my twitter pic to a boob-bot while you were still purging.

    So yeah. Funny huh?

Anyway, I have a new request pending on your twitter account. I have only a few followers and fewer people that I follow. So I actually look like a fem-bot. Even funnier, right? Except I have over 1000 tweets. Some of them pretty vulgar.

What can I say? I’m a classy girl.

  8. Honest question from a Twitter illiterate: are the spam followers intended as a big annoyance to the target, or is having that many somehow detrimental to the target’s use of Twitter, which is the point of sending them?

  9. No. Twitter followers can use a ‘feature’ called “Block and Report” to block other Twitter accounts especially those that engage in spamming you.
The purpose of a spambot is to inundate you with followers (many users have automated so called “follow-back” apps) so that they can mass block and report. This triggers an algorithm that suspends the account of the person being targeted. This is also known as “gulaging” somebody or being in the Twitter Gulag.

  10. Good luck with Twitter. I quit years ago when it became clear that Twitter couldn’t prevent my account from being hacked.

  11. You are so cool.

I thought this would be a sooper idea. Until I realized that McCain’s purging program wasn’t protecting accounts that he was subbed to. And then I took a look at my own account after the pic change…yeah, maybe not so sooper.

But I don’t want to take it down now. I guess I’ll just let them work it out. Unless I find a better photo…

  12. OMG…these are the same people who told my my lost Uncle in Nigeria left me the sum of 4.000.000 quatloos. I just forgot to send them my bank account number. Thanks for the reminder.
