Matt Barber is describing another dangerous progressive cause:

So much for the left’s “consenting adults” rhetoric on sex. Forever the consummate conservationists, our self-described “progressive” friends at the ACLU, MSNBC and elsewhere have been ramping-up efforts to downsize from “consenting adults” to merely “consenting” — a far less cumbersome qualifier in the noble struggle for unrestrained sexual license.
Tolerating “intergenerational romance” for “minor-attracted” adults is all the rage these days.
Ever hear of Kaitlyn Hunt? Over the past year or so this poor, misunderstood lesbian woman’s “anti-gay persecution” has become a cause célèbre among “gay rights” activists and other left-wing purveyors of perversion.
Despite mass rallies and online petitions signed by hundreds-of-thousands of the uber-”tolerant,” the clearly “homophobic” Florida criminal justice system has, nonetheless, convicted Ms. Hunt of multiple felonies for sexually assaulting — repeatedly — a 14-year-old girl. . . .

  1. Barber conflates paedophilia with pederasty. I doubt the gay lobby cares much one way or the other about the sexual violation of prepubescent children and would likely eschew any association with such people as bad optics. Just a guess, but I would wager a sociological study of true paedophiles would discover that they are modally idiosyncratic characters not plugged into gay social networks.

    The goods they want their hands on are adolescent males.

  3. Given what we see now, they’re not far from their goal. In the end, however, the atmosphere they create will consume them as well. Anarchy has a way of doing that.

  4. What is extraordinarily frightening is how a very, very small part of the population can succeed in forcing its goals upon society as a whole. As we’ve seen with the gay “rights” agenda, which has morphed into mandatory celebration and approval for the rest us to the point where our schools are laboratories for indoctrination and recruitment, so shall we see the same with the desire to sexualize children for the benefit of twisted, emotionally destroyed adults. It is not about keeping sex in and government out of bedrooms. It is not about “being” something; it is about creating, nee procreating, more twisted, emotionally destroyed humans.

    But let us not over-intellectualise the matter, lest we descend into the trap of the hair-splitting debate over the merits and criminality of “hebephilia” and “ephebophilia” versus “paedophilia”!

    And are you really that certain the “true paedophile” is a “modally idiosyncratic character not plugged into gay social networks”? Even if it is not, it is riding on the gays’ coattails!

  7. Stacy, I’m reading a really interesting book about mental illness that ties into some of what Barbour is saying about the reclassification of homosexuality in the medical community/lexicon. If I can get my laptop working, I’ll expound further!

  8. No, I am not certain, just guessing. I assume that social research has been done into the question and it may figure in Edward Laumann’s Sexual Organization of the City. I no longer have access to Sociological Abstracts and other databases where you would find references to these studies.

    I think the historian Phillip Jenkins (of Penn State) did some research some years ago into emerging paedophile networks (made possible by electronic communication). I think he did publish a monograph on the subject. Sociology is not part of his book, so caveat lector. There might be something there.

    I am speaking impressionistically, but I think until very recently, people whose kink was a sexual attraction to prepubescent children had little social contact with each other outside of prisons. (The grotesque Jesse Timmendequas met his housemates in prison). The homosexual population form (what has been) a society (completely sub rosa 70 years ago) with its watering holes, party circuits, vendors, and patronage networks. Homosexual men in groups have signature ways of interacting distinct from ordinary men or adult females (closest to teenage girls, Midge Decter once observed).

    The better part of a generation ago, I was shown an advertisement for a matching service which appeared in the local “gay” paper where I grew up. IIRC, it was an ad with photos about 5″ x 5″, not some squib in tiny print. This was for a service which catered to specialists. They offered introductions to ‘leathermen’, transvestites, black guys, and ‘young guys’ (“? – 25”). So, yes, an acknowledged market segment of the homosexual population in a provincial city ca. 1990.

    The last time I saw any data on this question, I think it had it that about a third of the prosecutions for molestations of juveniles were for male-male contact. Splitting the difference on the bisexual population, the ratio of normal to deviant men in the population at large is north of 30 to 1. Allowing for a certain number of female perpetrators, that suggests an odds-ratio of about 18 to 1 [ (32/1) / (57/33)]. Common figures on the extent of male homosexuality in the Catholic priest corps have it that 20% are homosexual and 13% bisexual. North of 80% of the accusations against priests concerned male-to-male contact. A similarly calculated odds-ratio is thus 12 to 1.

    So, yes, a gay thing in spite of Andrew Sullivan’s unhinged denials.

  10. You have to ask what’s in it for the bourgeois (the legal profession in particular) who did this to us. Two suggestions:

    1. The haut bougeois commonly lack the independence and trade skills of less well-heeled men.

    2. They are disproportionately drawn from the ranks of youngsters who lacked masculine social skills as adolescents and as young children.

    The solicitude for the male homosexual subculture is a consequence of alienation from manly competition.

    (This hypothesis can also cover an explanation for the abuse of husbands and fathers in divorce courts. It is a matter of professional class men kicking around working class men).

  13. Yes very disturbing on how a small part of society can have so much power over certain agendas. It’s kinda like what the Tea Party and Ted Cruz are doing to our government right now. Very, very frightening to say the least. Same type of shit just a different smell.
